@@dr.s.choudhury8089 dreams! Just as the stars are limitless our children will make a grand and epic story to tell! “ the children are our couture “ what we will continue to build until mankind fades an I don’t think we are going anywhere!
I am convinced the person that directed and wrote this scene and the person that directed and wrote the rest of the movie are not the same person… It had such potential and started so strong.
The director wanted to go with a more lore accurate film, but if I remember correctly, WB basically forced him to rewrite it with Cole as the main character, otherwise they'd give the movie to a different director.
The plot went South.. completely agree though they should have made the movie based off of the most Iconic characters in Mortal Kombat which were Subzero and Scorpion
Hiroyuki Sanada makes being old look cool. Dude is the man when it comes to this kind of stuff. I just watched "Bullet Train" and he was just as awesome there. Truly a GOAT in his craft.
That part was pretty neat. For years Chinese and Japanese languages and cultures were treated so interchangeably. Yet somehow Mortal Kombat manages to make their differences be almost a plot point.
@@carlycrays2831That's what a lot of people don't realise. Though there are some similarities, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and other East Asian cultures are more different from each other than people think.
IMO Hiroyuki Sanada is a living legend and one of the most perfect "representations" of a fierce warrior in most of the roles he plays. He always picks good roles and portrays those characters so well....."The last Samurai" was a great movie of his....he was good in Rush Hour 3 also but I am a zombie fan so seeing him in "Army of the dead" was pretty awesome for me too. You see him in a moviem you know its going to be good. Dude is such a stud!
hiroyuki sanada deserves more credit then he gets. hes been in some of my all time favorite movies with The Last Samurai being the obvious one that comes to mind. also would have been cool to have Ken Watanabe play shang tsung for that icing on the cake
Scorpion doesn't give a crap about all those dudes screaming and dying. Movie looks awesome. Love the fact that there's no shaky cam during the fight scenes.
This scene is amazing, for a second i thought the film was only based on Scorpions story. That would be phenomenal, the character deserves it since he's been carrying the game for 3 decades now.
They should've went the scorpion revenge way and just base it around hanzo before he became scorpion I hate how he needs an Alice character to defeat bihan
What were the writers thinking? Hey we just gave Scorpion a compelling origin and an awesome fight scene. Now let’s spend 2 hrs on a guy named Cole Young who can punch moderately hard.
I didn't even know about Cole until watching it, I really would have preferred a MK9 story adaptation instead of this new story. Everyone knows the characters and the basis of Mortal Kombat if they're watching, what's the point of making an entire movie following a basic ass protag with a brass shirt and knives instead of multiple Main characters being the og cast. Cole Young was one of the most forgettable parts of the movie and it could have done a lot better without him.
It was a makeshift weapon. He needed something with range that he wouldn't lose after throwing it. Much like his short sword that he had earlier. Which I'm surprised he didn't go and grab.
@@spacefish2548 he did carry a sword tho. Great for one on one close combat. but when you are surrounded (which isn't likely to happen every time), a longer tool like that is helpful to keep them at distance. why carry unnecessary weight when at home?
@@kopite31 i expected more action and brutal style fighting like ln this video and less humour, that crap humour and very bad jokes were another authors which ruined this movie too i really thought i was watching an action movie of mortal kombat 11 game and style of it, but it was far from it. in my opinion ofc. 🙂 some1 like, other not. and btw this whole game, deserves it own series made by real directors like marvels the punisher, that would be really nice! netflix really handle that shit.
@@DefconSpy Typical western style. There's always got to be some idiot cracking up jokes, which some may find it an added bonus but it's not a comedy so I hate it when they do that. That's why I rarely watch western movies... it's cheesy and so predictable. You always know how it's gonna end... with the hero winning and getting the girl. The good guy always lives even against impossible odds and getting beat, stabbed and even shot dozens of times.
Fun fact: Joe Taslim (The actor who played Bi-Han/Sub-Zero in the 2021 movie) said that he wanted the character's backstory to be explored more in the movie, because he knew that Bi-Han in the games was more human with a deep personality.
@@KermitBinLaden911 Anyone who really played the games, knows about the lore or simply likes the franchise and it's verse, does not like this Fanfic made up character.
I maybe wrong. Ninjas are actually peasants who oppose the samurai rule. Since they know they're no match against a trained samurai, they use sneaky tactics, weaponize gardening tools and much more.
@fdasfasd fasfasdfa yes, kunai main purpose was never meant to be a weapon. same with pocket knife. It's just mostly depicted as Ninja weapon in movie and anime because peasant sometimes use it to defend themselves
After watching this movie it changed my view on Scorpion. He is a beast 💪 even before death. I grew up as Liu Kang and Kung Lao fan, but now love Scorpion. He was never a bad guy, Sub-zero was.
Not sure why you ever thought Scorpion was a bad guy. He’s sometimes portrayed as chaotic neutral in the story but he’s more like a tragic hero with a revenge plot.
Sub zero was never the bad guy either. The whole reason bi han sub zero wore a mask was because he felt guilt from killing scorpions kid. Kuai Liang sub zero is basically best friends with scorpion. Quan chi and Shang tsung are the actual villains
Can we just appreciate the fact that Hiroyuki Sanada is 60 years old and moves like a 25 year old? There should be a movie based on Hanzo/Scorpion alone! It would be epic!
He's not "60 years old", he's an *Asian martial artist* . That's a HUGE factor. Ever seen Ip Chun, (yes, one of THE MASTER Ip Man himself's very own sons)? This venerable old man Is 95 years old now and he kicks ass like a beast. He was training Donnie Yen as he was 80 and some years old. There is a huge difference between 60 and 95 years I give you that, but for starters the healthy lifestyle of a true martial artist allows them to harmonise their body, effectively prolonging its expectancy and peak efficiency time. Add to this the fact - and that's particularly true for Chinese martial arts - that they train in chi breathing from very early on too and correct their forms all along their lives in order to eliminate useless movements, they thusly spend their lives working on not wasting energy whereas all that ordinary people do is muster all the power their body can at a given time to achieve their goal and have unhealthy life practices on top of it (you know it's true), so when they get old enough, their body can't follow their mind anymore. With time human life expectancy has dramatically shrunk, and I don't mean to compare with the Middle Ages, times that were as unhealthy as possible with people pising and shitting under the stairs in the house then chucking the thing in the streets through the window and such. I am talking about Ancient times here. Men were in peak health and could sire children and fight until they were 60. The Bible in the Ancient Testament tells of men living healthy and strong until 80. What amazes you is nothing extraordinary actually. This is something that used to be common and was lost to most of Men due to the changes in the way of life. And this is so ironical too, I mean we now have better ways to care for our health than the Ancient did, we also know more about medicine supposedly, so we should be able to do what they used to, but this progress also came at the price of weakening us and cocooning us in a polluted environment where only breathing cuts one's life short.
. . . That's basically what the movie is going to center around lol. Hanzo seeking revenge on Subzero's brother and eventually finding out it was Chang sung.
Man, i'm glad Joe Taslim gets alot of praise in his performance. I loved him in The Raid movies and The night comes for us! One of my favorite actors out there. Hopefully they'll give him more projects in hollywood🙏
Dude absolutely murders this role for me same for sanada as scorpion and this won't be the last we see of his character signed up for 5 movies my bets he returns as noob saibot although I'd love a TV show of how the 2 clans became bitter rivals ending it with hanzo and bihan taking there positions as grandmasters of there clans
Not really an origin, he's clearly got a lot more history, plus there's no way he's using that choice of weapon for the first time and being that good with it, so he must have trained with something similar in the past.
Bi-han detailing how he finally defeated Hanzo by killing his family, his clan and stopping his bloodline, while at the same time proclaiming himself the winner. Hanzo: "i don't know what you just said, but fuck you anyways"
@@Tython82 I was thinking the same thing. My guess is they are not gonna touch on it in this movie, and they may explore this plot twist in a potential sequel if the first movie does well.
@@Tython82 seeing how they are going with the whole "birthmark" thing and introducing cole as the protagonist, i think they will just go with it being bi-han
Scorpion and Sub-Zero were really the main, if not only, redeeming qualities of this film. There were some other nice things too, like Josh Lawson's performance as Kano, but nothing else in the movie quite carried as much as Joe and Hiroyuki did.
I wish this whole movie would’ve been based around this type of theme for the movie, it would’ve been soooooo much better. This was by far the best scene in the entire movie to me
Entire movie should've been this!!!!! When this opening played I said "Oh man, this movie is going to be amazing!!!!!" unfortunately, I didn't realize this was the best part of the entire film.
Huge respect to Hiroyuki Sanada (plays Scorpion) who's worked on martial arts films all his life yet he's very capable of being an actor, expressing a wide range of emotions.
I really hope the MK game devs would truly give Scorpion/Hasashi a peaceful timeline where his family is alive, well, happy and his clan is ushering in peace, power and population. Scorpion deserves it man.
Decision of showing the opening scene on RU-vid was way more effective on making me want to see the film, than the actual trailer itself. Brilliant idea.
Yeah, sub zero and scorpion is the only one thing that i want to see in this MK, my fav char in ps2, i hope they will make movie that inside is sub zero and scorpion only, maybe spin off or something else
People are way to nit-picky this is so good in terms of the fighting choreography, and honestly that's probably what they should focus on. can't wait to see it
After watching this scene i was so ready for the movie to be amazing then just a straight up let down. But i did love how the scene showed its hard for a good man to run for his past and what happens when you give him nothing left to lose. Really wish they just kept it about scorpion and subzero
absolutely right. They got the tone and feel down with the violence what more do you want. Looked pretty faithful to the source material and didn't look cheap everyone playing it serious. I hope it does well and makes money.

@@Nick1253 nah he pissed cause said, insignificant details. fans like that, i like that. i know you were joking/trying to be funny, but it didn't look like to him that's why perhaps. and the hype around Black panther made him biased
What i love about this scene is bi Han didn’t look like he wanted to hurt the mother and child and seems genuinely happy with the kids moves, but he had no choice and had a job to do
I started to worry the moment I saw he had a family and said that he loves them too and he feels blessed at this point scorpion might as well kill them himself not waste time 😂😂
For the fighting and the directing of the movie. From this clip the fighting seems so fluid and clean and I am so happy that the director is actually smart and chose to go with wideshots for the fight scenes. If he didn't it just wouldn't feel right
This is one of those rare occassions where a franchise would be totally justified. Culminating in the "end game" with a Mortal Kombat tournament, maybe 4 movies focussing on 3 or 4 main characters each, then maybe a 2 parter finale. With an intro as good this, the potential is all there.
They know the lore and they know what the fans wanted. They cast amazing actors and the fight is amazing. My only complain would be about quick cut editing but we can follow and appreciate the action so i dont really mind.
I love the fact that the kunai he is using is like in the real feodal Japan, a gardening tool that some people turn into weapon but still a gardening tool.
I’ll say. The Lin Kuei picked poorly. They kidnapped kids and train them to be assassins since childhood due to their innate super powers and special talents. And after all that, none of them can hit him at least once.
Its nothing like the video game. The original 3 mk n ultimate video games has everyone's story. Jax didnt lose his arms to sub zero. He willingy got cybernetic implants. Sub zero never killed scorpions family either, it was quan chi. Quan chi hired sub zero to steal the sacred map of elements from the shaolin temple. It just so happened scorpion was there for the same thing hired by the same guy. Sub killed scorpion there in a fair fight. Quan chi then kills scorpions clan and then his family. Quan finds scorpion in the nether realm aka hell n tells him zero did it... so no ..no faithful at all... Then again its just a trailer n wgat we are actually watching is quan chi n not sub. Then again the way jax loses his arms is stupid. I wonder what else they changed...
I can't wait until the most obvious light bulb goes off over their oblivious heads that we've all already known for over a decade now: "Durrrrrr uhhhhh, wait a minute... if we actually make these movies GOOD... we can maka da BIG money offa these movies TOO??!! Likea da COMIC movies??!! But da MCU makes da BIGGY BIGGY money!!! We coulda makea da BIGGY BIGGY MONEY FOR YEARS!!" Welcome to common sense, Hollywood execs.
