Gone are the good old days of actually playing against a person at the Arcade and having that human interaction. There's something to be said about watching someone play, place a quarter on the glass and wait your turn. While I don't have any memories of playing MK2, I played a lot of MK and SF2 Hyper Fighting at my high school arcade Pockets. Today's kids will never know what it was like to face another player and bumping elbows on an arcade machine. Thanks for sharing Daryl.
Awesome comment my friend thank you. Oh how I miss those days lemme tell ya. I was 12/13 when MK came out and I still remember playing it in the arcades. It was a great time to be alive :)
I do miss having arcades for things like Initial D. Racing against three other people on a course or spend like two hours with friends going head to head and all. Or playing 4 player beat em ups.
Your opponent was pretty weak. He was having trouble throwing the spear many times but you're so proud of your friendships and the fact that he rage quit😂
When playing human opponents I always like to try depending on their skill. Some times I get absolutely destroyed trying though lol so it’s so satisfying when I can do it lol thanks for the comment 🙏🏽
Lol I’ll try. I never expected this kind of turnout though, but I do enjoy playing it ALL THE TIME so if people wanna watch I’ll gladly record it. Thanks for the comment 👊🏼
Really enjoying the content . How about some MK3 play trough with combo tutorial commentary. Can’t really find any videos on how to perform the MK3 character combos .
I’ve put this arcade1up cabinet on my wishlist for birthday/Christmas, have you thought about swapping out the stock buttons and sticks or do you feel the quality is high enough that it’s not necessary?
@@izhamsham843 I have seen people like you in over 20 years online-playing too. The point is: I leave the game/server whenever I want. We can play 3-5 matches, after the 5th match I will maybe say "okay, thanks for playing" and whatever happens, people call you a quitter. But it's still a fact: I leave the game whenever I want. By the way: You don't know people. Maybe some play on their work or they are freelancers. Their phone is ringing, a new customer maybe, that means money. And they give a shit for a dumb videogame, when it's about to make 5.000 bucks maybe with 1 contract that has to be signed. And customers want to talk before signing a contract. Whatever it is, don't judge people by quitting. As a student I played 6 hours in a row, but nowadays I am mostly done after 30-60 minutes. That's my daily dosis, and that's okay for me.
@@MrZillastoo many what-ifs, the opponent willingly took a penalty by cutting out early plain and simple, the penalties are in place to discourage this sort of thing and encourage courteous competition. Quite likely a sore loser, possibly something else, but probably not whatever story you cooked up.
@@MrZillas you try to justify your rage quitting as 'saving time' when really you just make the win cheaper for the other player. if you were good enough you could clutch a comeback, instead you just give up and rage quit like a baby instead
I always loved MK2 a lot but was never able to fully enjoy it at its peak It's really refreshing to see your channel focused more on MK2! I always felt it was overshadowed by other titles, and by being in the middle of the original trilogy. Have you ever played on fightcade? I had no idea there was an online mode on the 1up cabs
Thanks for the comment! I have heard fightcade is the place to test your online skills but I have never used it personally or even looked into it. I really should.
I was just being very aggressive because they would block a lot. My weakness is when people are overly aggressive on myself too. Could’ve went either way.
I have never enjoyed playing mortal kombat on account of how stiff it feels and i also hate the block button. I do really enjoy watching it though, great vids.
I remember getting my first taste of online fighting games back when I played Marvel Vs Capcom 2. People constantly rage quitted whenever they were about to lose. I stopped playing online fighting games since then, it's more frustrating for me to see someone leaving like that than losing myself IMO and it got me raging to see them rage quitting lol. Whenever I had the upper hand in a fight I'd always think "Is this guy gonna quit on me now?". And I wasn't that good, so it really sucked when I was going to win this one time and then that other dude would disconnect and the win wouldn't be registered. Then when I'd lose fights I'd think about all those rage quitters and hated that I had to endure the full loss unlike they did. So yeah it wasn't fun so that's why I stick to mostly online coop games now. It's way different when you get to play against someone next to you or in front of you IRL. They can't escape and most of the time even if they can get angry at the moment the loss is official, at least they gulp it down and you get along with them afterwards.
I just got an MK2 unit, and Im getting rocked online... Wired will be the first fix, but im curious; how do you play your cab? Do you have it lifted? Donyou hunch, or sit?
@@BushyStallion I see. I don't have a 1UP machine, so just trying to understand. So you just boot it up, connect the machine to your home LAN, and a proprietary online game menu is available?
@@StreetFighter2010 yep, all you need is an Ethernet cable which is by far the better way to play, or wifi and after you turn the machine on it connects automatically. You can turn the machines online on or off if you don’t feel like playing online.
Player looked pretty new . I’ve just started playing online matches . Seems I’m hella rusty. For sure fun though. The MK 2 online is pretty sparse. Hope with the new Deluxe Cab it grows .
I see this all the time in the KL league in MK 11. Some clown knows a 20 hit combo that will kill you if they manage to land it… But play as Cassie cage, subzero, someone like that who has projectiles, and they don’t know what to do. Then they get mad and message you cursing up a storm because I’m not stupid enough to walk into the 20 head combo or whatever 🤷🏻♂️
I never got people getting emotional about losing, I know no matter how good I am there will always be 1,000 people better so why worry about scores or rankings.
@@mikeg2491it's the result of people injecting their sense of self worth into these things. Sometimes it's intentional other times it sort of slips in because other areas of life are lacking, either way it's largely preventable by taking account of yourself.
Interesting watching diffy players play the 1up's. Everyone has their own style & techniques. I like your style ur calm, calculated and in control versus the players that are spamming like the buttons aren't working.
Apparently there’s an online community using Fightcade, that’s one way. And then the cabinet I use from Arcade1up, the Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary edition, and new Deluxe cabs.
Quitting out during a finishing move does suggest they were being salty. They could have waited a mere 20 seconds later for the match to officially end then left without facing a penalty or looking like they took things personally.
Sore loser doesn’t mean I’m being malicious and calling him an actual “loser” I’m just playing around as he quit during the fatality resulting in a penalty that could’ve been avoided.
@@thegreat1007 he quit before the input as finished he never seen the friendship! It registers on tsungs end tho! I mean you gotta be mad and hate life to not even want to watch the cool ass finishers in MK2 they are gold for sure. They make you enjoy losing as much as winning just to see the ones you can't do be pulled off! Which allows replayability slot of games don't promote this feeling very often so if your rage quitting on this classic them you shouldn't be gaming period! I mean Jesus MK2 doesn't even have a combo engine just learn a pattern and commit!
*I ACTUALLY PITIED HIM...........HE DID NOT KNOW, "HOW TO PLAY THE GAME"* The ONLY AXX-KiCkin' I took in MK was = I was visiting the Game Room inside Midway (plant) 1998 The guy there, kicked my axx sooooooooo bad in UMK 3 . He said, "I give you credit....you know the combos". I said "What about you" = I GOT THE GAME BOARD AT HOME (HUGE GRUNT)
Great video, but why did you just assume the other person was a "sore loser"? Maybe they had shit to do, maybe they were cooking something, maybe they were playing with pets, maybe they had a date....you never know.
This is true. But it would’ve taken another 3 seconds then they could’ve left with grace instead of backing out at the last second denying me my win for the standings.
It was obviously a sore loser, and this lame comment is obviously from someone from this overly sensitive generation that would've started crying and raging after an ass whoopin n the 90's arcades. Would've been hilarious to the big crowds that always surrounded MK. Go cry somewhere else loser!
You never know, either. Maybe they are indeed a sore loser. The more pertinent question is why the hell you care. Stop being emotional for no damn reason
@@BushyStallion This is also true. MK is an awesome series, but remember, at the end of the day, it's just a video game and "winnings" and "standings" mean absolutely shit so never take a game too seriously.
Mate, I've watched some of your videos, you are clearly VERY skilled with regards to games like MK1 and MK2, no doubt about it. But, I have to disagree with you on this one. You can't call someone a sore loser because they decided to quit at the end of their second match with you. If they were sore losers (a) they wouldn't have agreed to a second match with you and (b) they would have quit earlier during the match, so your assessment of them being sore losers is wrong. If anything you are being a sore winner, which in my view is just as bad, if not worse, behaviour than being a sore loser. Maybe you were having a bad day when filming this, but it's clear that you were the one who was "sore" that day. You won mate, you had fun, they lost and decided to stop playing and see if they could have fun by playing with someone who is at a closer skill level to themselves. so they can have fun playing the game, you know enjoying themselves, just like you do playing at a higher skill level. Learn to take the W, and remember it's all about having fun when it comes to video games.
Because he left before he would get a penalty, meaning he rage quit, hence sore loser. He could have easily wait the next, what, 5-10 seconds and left gracefully but he didn't. You understand what the term MEANS, right?
@@RyuuHou22 "He quit before he could get a penalty" Oh no, he didn't let himself get cucked...what a crime. Why is there even a penalty are you insane? Congrats on being good at some video game older than you are. It's probably the only thing you'll ever BE good at with that attitude. You're a ligma male where as the rage-quitter is a sigma. Ligma balls.
A lot of Mortal Kombat 2 is about range-finding got to be somebody who is very Adept at finding somebody's range and attacking within that range it's a big part of being an expert at that game.. that's why he keeps doing those sweeps all the time he's trying to predict when he's going to throw the spear then he does that jump kick is going to eat the jump kick every single time...STOP THROWING SPEARS BGL
@@BushyStallion I just know the tech of the game cuz I played it for so long especially Mortal Kombat 4 which has different kinds of tech but all these Mortal Kombat games play the same essentially..lol
@@BushyStallion I'm not just going to say that that's the only thing to win the battle you got to have very quick reflexes and timing to input those comnands promptly... which is a big part of it as well takes a lot of practice
