Anyone else find it awesome that Robin knew the original Liu Kang before either of them were Liu Kang?

Linden's face when Robin is talking about all those reads he had to do, and then at the end his "I'm glad you got the part" is so happy and sweet, You KNOW he means it. These two are just a joy.

In my opinion, Mortal Kombat 1995 is the best video game movie ever made, and you can't tell me otherwise. The cast and set pieces were just so spectacular.

Watched it in the cinema. Everyone went crazy when you hear...REPTILE ! No one knew he was in the film, was hidden just like in the game. They nailed MK, just wish it was 18

Robin is so freaking awesome, He was born to play Liu Kang. I miss seeing him on the big screen.

Sadly, movies like MK2 and Beverly Hills Ninja permanently hurt Robin's career. Linden suffers from anxiety and would experience such terrible panic attacks at auditions that he nearly quit acting all together. These 2 are very talented and likable and could have had great careers if things had gone slightly different.

This made the 9-year-old me come back and I’ve been smiling so hard this whole video. So much nostalgia!

Back in 1995 I told my sister this was the best video game movie ever and she laughed at me. To this day she's still wrong.

I rewatched the 1995 Mortal Kombat yesterday and the fight scenes still hold up. The Scorpion and Cage fight was great.

One thing I loved about the original movie was the choreography. It looks brutal and definitely looks like it hurt.

The Robin Shou, Ho Sang Pak crossing paths story is the closest we'll get to two realms merging.

This movie and these actors were a big part of my childhood. This and Terminator 2 was two films I remember vividly as a kid. I really miss that era.

I was 13 when my granddad took me and my friend to see this film at the local cinema. It was like a dream come true. Even now, when Robin throws the lizard into the statue and the announce proclaims "Reptile" and that music kicks in...I'm transported back to 95 and I lose my mind.

And now Ashby-Cage is playable in MK11. Yolo.

I watched it in awe as a kid, I watched it on drugs, I watched it while I was sad, but no matter how many times I watch it, it is still one of my favorite childhood films

Linden played such a good Johnny Cage, that I started using Johnny in the games later and it's now one of my favorite characters. Great cast. Great, great cast.

These two breathed so much life into the characters they played. Robin Shou was an amazing Liu Kang and Linden Ashby practically defined Johnny Cage's portrayal for years to come.

Great to hear these two still keep in touch, Loved that movie when it came out! And of course, loved the videogames since day one! Amazing that the funniest lines in the movie were all improv by Linden himself, on the spot, sheesh! Mindblowing that Robin met the OG Lui Kang from the original video game, years before the movie xD

"There was so much more that could've been done with the films", that hit me cause that's just so true with how they missed the mark with the sequel. As an adult, watching the first MK movie, there's some campiness to it but the fight scenes were just so much more memorable and intense than the new one.

When people think of Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, or Sonya Blade, you think of these characters first, and THEN the in-game characters. That’s how much that movie affected us 90’s kids who were fans of the game. My inner child was so happy watching this interview, and seeing they are friendly in real life. As a game designer, this series and film (the first one, at least) meant a lot to me, and certainly had a hand in my eventual career. 🙂
