Hannah, thank you for solidifying my understanding of Joseph Smith. I always questioned whether he used seer stones. It always sounded spurious to me, but I didn’t take as much time as you did to find out by studying it. You have rekindled my love and curiosity for the gospel topics you have been teaching and I am so grateful.
I am a Filipino so far from where the first vision occurred and knew nothing at all about it and the whole process. We were in Carthage last week, the jail room where the Prophet was martyred has an overwhelming spirit that testifies of Joseph’s wonderful contributions and of his personal sacrifice. My wife asked the Sister Missionary who was guiding us how the Spirit in that room affected non-members. She said an individual who had been antagonistic during the tour said he could feel the spirit in that room and wanted to know why.

Parallels like all principles have many levels even down to paralleling our own lives. That is my understanding of the BoM. I found my life in there. I remember standing in the courtroom facing the judge and the no less than 9 adversarial lawyers ready to permanently destroy the relationship between our children and their parents. I layed down my agency to Jesus Christ and his commandments to keep our fathers as head of our household and not courts and judges and professional do-gooders. They killed us, literally, post traumatic stress ends life as we know it. It's is subtle but intentional. They kept coming at us and the Savior gave the command, "let go". Parental authority is at stake. They will burn parents by fire, symbolic of painful death. The BoM is true at all levels of our life. We can read it as an autobiography

I didn’t understand what the Joseph Smith Foundation was or who you are. I’m getting to know you through these videos. Personally I was excited to finally get out of the spotlight after I searched and searched and concluded that I could rely on Joseph Smith, trust the Book of Mormon, and my Savior is a fail proof Rock. All else are cherries on top, and you are good at laying out some of those cherries. I have been re-inspired to double down on my repentance and my obedience, thank you! Blessings!
I've been listening to and reflecting on Dave Butler's thoughts and there's a possibility that those in the "great and spacious building" in Lehi's dream represent apostates who essentially seized the "middle chamber" of the Temple and were attempting to block access to the Lord in the inner chamber or Holy of Holies in Lehi's day. It would be no surprise, therefore, to see religionists who adhere to a false doctrine regarding revelation (like the Deuteronomists) and the Covenant Path. It's also consistent with that view to see them attempt to impose their control by force of violence and murder as Josiah(?) did in the OT.

The fact that YHWH in the D&C through Joseph Smith stated that the coming Mighty and Strong One will put things back in order, shows there will be an apostasy after Joseph Smith started the restoration.

Citation and quotes used for discussion, content writing and sermon giving is more often problematic than not. That’s how we arrive at for example to misquoting even “stripling warriors” in the Book of Mormon, while Helaman referred to those young innocent men as soldiers and son. An even apostles and stake presidents fall into this bad incorrect habit. This is because people just don’t dig down enough to original content and about a correct bibliographic research as to who says what, why, where they got it from and what’s in it for the authors and publishers? This is one of the significant analytical critical thinking about identifying truth and credibility of what is said, who says it, where they got it from and what’s in it for the author ( or accuser aka liar). We are not necessarily always looking at liars or malicious slander, but more often false quotations passed done while innocent are done recklessly because one trusts too easily or is simply just a bad judge of character or too lazy to inquire truth from the source. I really liked your reference to the standard works and scripture. But even those should be reviewed critically with the very same analytical WHAT WHERE WHO WHY -s.

If truly that stones a source of unseen power finding gold, why Joseph never had a million dollars in his pocket as many labelled him a gold digger with a powerful gold detectors. Understand that Satan role is to destroy God's work.
The Book of Mormon parallels, as you progress chronologically through the history, quickly show that theory just does not hold up. The histories do not match up and instead, Mormon's parallels actually bear strong testimony to the integrity of Brigham Young and the early pioneers.
Brigham Young added to the very foundation that Joseph Smith Jr. established through the keys of the priesthood. If there is any parallel I would say Brigham Young was more like Alma who continued the teachings of Abinadi. What a marvelous work and a wonder the Lord has established here in the tops of the Rocky Mountains and beyond. This truly fulfills the prophecies of Isaiah. How firm a foundation...
@@JosephSmithFoundation that "chronological" theory doesn't hold up. If Joseph was the beginning of our dispensation and doesn't start until the Book of Mosiah, what parallel was Nephi and Jacob. When we look at the Book of Mormon as prophecy we see different stories start and restart over and over again about the same people and events in the latter-days. One needs to tie the appropriate pieces together to see the whole picture.
