Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU sniper replica. This rifle was made in 1938 by Izhevsk in the Soviet Union. It was carried by a Soviet soldier in the 1941 Winter War when the Soviet Union invaded Finland. The rifle was captured and refurbished by the Finns. They reworked the trigger, front sight, sling attachments, and re-blued all the metal and refinished the wood and reissued the rifle to the Finnish army. The rifle was imported into the USA by Century International Arms and expertly converted to a PU sniper replica with the correct PU 4 power scope and scope mount in the early 1990's. In this video I describe and shoot this rifle.

Love the old Mosin Nagant rifles. My collection includes ones made in Russia, Finland, Yugoslavia, Romania, Poland and China. I started out wanting to buy "just one or two" I now have 22 of them including a sniper rifle conversion as yours is. They are getting WAY to high priced for me to buy any more. I also have a 1953 model NAA Ford tractor that has been in the family since 1957.

You definitely have "Mosin Fever" and I hope you can shoot all of them regularly. Thank you for watching my videos involving my 1953 Jubilee. As you know, they are excellent machines.

I bought a Mosin Nagant on a whim (made in Tula in 1936) for about $109.00 if I remember correctly. I had great fun restoring it. Took it to the range and was shocked to see it knock holes through solid steel at a pretty good distance. But since I am left-handed it was awkward to shoot so I ended up selling it.

Thank you for watching this video too. My metal targets are 1/2-inch armor plating so no round will penetrate unless it is armor piercing. The Tula military surplus full metal jacket rounds I was shooting will go through 1/2-inch mild steel.

I am pretty sure it was armor-piercing ammunition. It was surplus from Bulgaria as I recall, came in a big sardine can. I didn't even realize I was shooting through the metal until the rangemaster pointed it out to me and politely asked me to shoot at some railroad ties instead. @@kensshowtell

I’m currently making one with a 1942 91/30. I got a Raven muzzle break, Finnish shim kit, burlap wrap to free float the barrel, and an older Ukrainian made PU scope instead of a cheap Chinese one as well as a proper bolt handle

Thank you for watching. Yes. All I've read about those Chinese made "PU" scopes is bad. The Soviet made scope on my rifle is very nice given its age. Your build will be very nice.

Fascinating gun with a fascinating history. Pretty good marksman pulling the trigger too. I want to be on your team. 😜

Anytime. You remember that I was on the West Springfield High School Varsity rifle team? 22's at 50 feet is nothing like this rifle. I figure if one has seen the movie "Enemy at the Gate" then they have seen one in action. Thank you for watching.

You are hitting those targets very good for 160 yards! Some of those Mosins can't hit very accurate at 100 yds.

Thank you for watching and commenting. One reason I purchased this rifle is the positive report from the seller reading how well it shot for the previous owner.
