Very nice.. I'm also in the decision making phase regarding mosquito xet's. I'm an A&P with about 11 years of rotary wing experience (also with several years of Solar T-62 operations).. My number one concern, as i'm sure most everyone else's is, is safety and training. I think i'm going to go ahead and pursue my pilot's license before i do anything.

Me too, just the non turbine XE version though. Slightly less top speed but 4 hour flight time with extended tank so I can fly across state and between towns.

The little pod under the belly, is that the fuel pod, if so can get a bigger one ( longer range) awesome clip.

the belly pod id the aux fuel tank. The main tank is the bulb behind the pilot's head. The XET burns gas so fast that you need the extra tank. Can't add any more tanks or you exceed max gross weight limit.

@@aeroengguy448 i've seen an aux tank mod that looks like something you'd see on a fighter jet. As long as the pilot is light enough to include the additional weight.

Sure, it's an experimental airworthiness certificate, so you can do what you want. However, what you're suggesting would be considered a major modification, and would require an inspection, documentation and a new airworthiness certificate from the FAA or DAR (in the U.S.). For other countries you'd have to consult their regs. Keep in mind that the Mosquito is not really a cross-country aircraft, and extended time in the cockpit becomes uncomfortable. The XET can carry 20 gals (with aux tank) and burns 12-15 gph, so plenty of flight time before a break IMO.

@@aeroengguy448 agree completely, I just thought it was interesting someone actually added an additional tank. I'm not sure how much fuel it provided. Certainly didnt seem like something Composite designed.

That was simply awesome, the only way to make it better would have been a full power down auto and why risk it coming in that hot. That turbine sure seemed to have allot of power to spare.
