Moss Poles - what they are, why you need one, and how to use one.

his video is all about moss poles and why our epiphytic aroids need them in order to achieve those huge split leaves very quickly. I explain the science behind why plants need this climbing medium to thrive, what they are made of, and how we can train our plants to climb up a moss pole on their own. I also show you how I install a moss pole for a golden pothos, and air layering a philodendron sharoniae to a moss pole using sphagnum moss. There’s a moss pole plant tour in the middle of the video to further show you what I am talking about. Enjoy!

I've realized once again how great the houseplant community is and how we're all on one world! We're all learning to help our plant babies thrive in our homes (you're pointing out the best ways to mimic their natural environments). And we seem to have the same pests even on opposite sides of the world. Let's keep learning to take care of plants and help them take over the world! 🌏🌎🌍

@@clos7238 Hi. I got them on Amazon. They are made of coco fibre. I am not sure about that medium. It doesn't hold water well, and my vines don't seem to be rooting in it. It is really convenient but maybe not as good as sphagnum moss would be. The Crazy Plant Guy on RU-vid has a video on making your own moss poles. I was too lazy! LOL Maybe see of you could do that.

My dad’s monstera has grown HUGE but it’s severely lopsided because of how heavy it is and lack of moss pole. Is it too late for me to introduce a pole in now? Or would you advise to wait until the warmer season, repot and then insert the pole? Ty!

After 1 week leaves started to yellow (i guess repotting shock), but today I've noticed that half of the moss is covered WITH WHITE MOLD! I've watered the moss only once, 5 days after replanting as it felt dry. I had a humidifier nearby as well, set to 65%. Any clue why did my moss "died"?
