I was so puzzled even after watching other videos, this is the only video I've seen with a clear view of the mechanism that holds the shell in. Thank you.
Been doing this since I was 10 years old… Still doing it today at age 52 with the same gun 😆. If you drop the slide back a little, they’ll fall out easier plus the bolt is “out of battery” and is a bit safer. Just my $.02
That is interesting advice. I will have to give it a try. My gripe with that is that, I believe, buy pulling the slide back out of battery you are cocking the gun.
Indeed! But we are tripping shells out of the magazine and not in the magazine. After emptying the magazine I always drop the slide back and verify an empty chamber anyways
@@mikejensen6684 Correct. I don't worry about any bump. They just drop out. This is my favorite feature on the Mossy 500. The open loading port to unload the shotgun without cycling it. No loading gate.
I was pumping the shells out. And after a few, my bear rounds brass was getting chewed up. $2.50 per shell. Been unloading like this for last two years now. Saved me money, quieter and cooler looking😎
This same technique can be done on Remington shotguns. Use the shell retainer spring on the opposite side. You can do this on all Benelli and Beretta shotguns. Even on the Ithaca model #37. Ithaca shotguns do not have a side ejection port. Everything goes in or out of the bottom loading port. Don't know which side, right or left. Just press on the shell retainer spring. This is far safer than running the shell through the chamber.
Actually, If you bring the pump down about an inch or two, you can actually press on that side lever, and each shell will just pop right out and won’t get stuck on that bump.
this avoids unnecessarily loading your chamber and also saves a bit of wear on the brass. Say you’re hunting with some nice expensive sabot rounds and you load/unload it every day, or maybe you took the advice from your father and unload the gun before climbing over a rock or fallen tree to get to your spot. Wouldn’t want to chew the brass up so much that you worry about extraction. It’s also quiet and smooth.
I have a Mossberg as well....never been outta breath, loading it, unloading it, or firing it for that matter...seek medical attention...😬....P.S...its not a "round"....tis a shell 🐚...😁
