Mossberg 930 SPX 

Before buying a new gun, I always do my research and then I have to come to get the hickoks wise opinions and demonstration before I lay my money down. Thanks for what you do do sir! :)

As we all know, this man is a national treasure. I wish Hickok would go on tour and allow his many fans the chance to shake his hand and thank him for all of his work and for being just a great American!

Had my 930 for many years now. Not 1 failure. Will fire any shell I put through it. Have 2 barrels for it. 1 for hunting, 28" and 1 for home, 18.5". It's my favorite gun.

I have had my SPX for about 3 years now. I have not had any failures. I find it very comfortable even shooting heavy loads, unlike my pump. I love it.

I own one and it’s dead on, total power in the hand love everything about it. Mossberg knocked it out of the park... Awesome 💪💯🇺🇸

I've had my full size 930 for some years now, and I have put well over 500 rounds through it in about 2 hours or less. It's never once misfired, jammed or anything else until I went and tried to shoot it as fast as I could, and that's only because I have an extension for 10 total rounds, and eventually I still being able to hold it well enough. When you tether it to the table and blast off as fast as you can, it never fails.

A Mossberg fan all my life . I have collected 500, 590, 930SPX with a pistol grip, and finally the 940 pro: Sweet Shotgun. For me a Mossberg is dependable and affordable. MOSSBERG FOREVER !!!

I've had the exact same shotgun for about 4 years now. clean every 3 to 4 hundred shells. never a single issue. it impresses the friends for sure.

Really glad to see you finally review a 930SPX. I've owned one for a couple of years now with the pistol grip and in coyote tan. I think you'd love the pistol grip if you'd try it on this gun at least, really tames the recoil and control. You did pick one of the hardest kicking shells I know of but like you I love to shoot them once in awhile. No doubt they are very powerful and would be an excellent choice for close range deer. I prefer any of the Federal Flight Control ammo in mine. It more than doubles the effective range of buckshot. Amazing stuff. The first thing you do with a 930 is shoot and shoot and shoot some more. They do require quite a bit of breaking in and you'd be amazed how dependable they are after that. Also one of the first things to do take it apart and throw the factory pusher tube in the gas system in the trash can and put in a 3-Oragun perforated pusher tube in it. Will increase dependability by 99%. I love mine, excellent sights, nine shot capacity if you ghost load it and this is one of them that you can do that with and very dependable. With all that said they do like a lot of cleaning and if you will use something like wonder lube 3000 plus, (Which is pure carnauba wax) , instead of petroleum based oils the carbon will not stick nearly as much in the gas system and they will run much longer between cleanings.

I like the ability to keep your eyes on what's happening and load with left hand keeping hand ready to shoot. No replacing mags or running out at the wrong time.

I took my 930SPX out to the range two weeks ago and used 3" slugs and it felt like someone was punching me in the arm. It sure was accurate though and it shot flawlessly! It's a very reliable shotgun and is a poor man's Benelli!

Hickok45, you talk about folks from Kentucky like we Norwegians talk about out lesser brothers, the Swedes. I love it--all in good fun!

Absolutely have enjoyed mine now for 4years...even for clay shooting lots of fun and reliable.

My 590 has been upgraded with an 590 A1 trigger group and some magpull furniture. Could not be happier with it . Over 3000 + rounds and have never had a failure on a wide range of shells. Looking forward to and saving up for a 930. Thanks Hickock for the review. Aloha from Hawaii.

I love my 930 SPX Tactical 👍 Mine does have the pistol grip (which I prefer) and it is my favorite shotgun, by a mile. Great video, as always!

Ive been running a Mossberg 500 for years as a shotgun. I have an 18: and full length barrel for it. Primarily running the 18", but the barrels change out ridiculously fast!

I'm poor. only got a rifled 590a1 and a Taurus .45 acp semi-automatic high capacity pistol that's why this channel is my go to for all the firearms that I'll never be able to own. pretty happy with what I have and I know when shit hit happens, I got more than enough hardware to defend myself and my family

I have the exact shot gun and I love it . Runs flawlessly everytime i take it out

I ran this gun through a 4 day tactical shotgun class at Frontsite. Over 500 rounds in 4 intensive days of training with no unintended failures. Slugs, Buckshot, and Birdshot. After that I sold all of my pump guns. This is my favorite shotgun of all. Accurate, reliable, and less recoil than a pump gun. However, it is substantially heavier.

Once again one of my favorite videos/review. Once the 930 is broke in it does feed reliably. I can shoot low brass and high brass with no issues. I have even run different rounds , field,slugs,buckshot and so on loaded in the tube at the same time with absolutely no issues what so ever. I do own a Blackwater version which I prefer due to the lower sights. I have added a LPA rear with green fiber optics and a Wilson's combat front red fiber optic. And I have replaced the stock with a Mesa tactical with the limbsaver option. I had to break it in once again. I have added a better safety magazine and shotgun follower with a OR3GUN as well as a Magpul barrel clamp with sling attachment and a accessory rail for a light. Not a forend tactical rail but one that fits on the magazine tube and can be placed in 3 different positions. And of course a Mesa Tactical side saddle. I do trust this shotgun in a defensive situation where lives are at stake. But I have trained , drilled if you will and I understand what rounds feed well and work under pressure. A jam is always a possibility. So training on reloading and clearing is a must. With a pump you could short shuck it in a tense situation. So whatever you choose train and re train and shoot the shells you plan to use for self defense.

I bought a 930 a few years ago and had nothing but problems with it. Sent it back to Mossberg and it took them over a month it get it to shoot right. Got it back and still had problems with it. Been in the cabinet ever since.

I'm watching this thinking, "I wish Saturday morning cartoons were more like this when I was a kid." Further thought reminds me of other Saturday tv programing like Gallagher specials, then all of a sudden, I see Hickok45 put a slug through a watermelon! The Sledge-O-Matic has evolved!

I destroyed my back at work and found it really hard to shoot a 3 inch shell with a pump shotgun. I would end up barely being able to walk out of the duck blind at the end of the day. I picked up the Mossberg 930 hunting shotgun semi auto gas chamber and I can shoot it all day long. Excellent shotgun for me. I am in the market for a home defense shotgun and I believe the one being demonstrated here is what I’m going with. Very reliable.

Cool how you can see the slug traveling to the steel. Love my 930 SPX. Mossberg shotguns are bulletproof and reliable. Their performance far exceeds their price. My father has had a model 500 pump 12ga since the early 70s and is his favorite hunting shotgun. It came from the factory with a twist adjustable choke (cylinder to full).

Have had this exact shotgun model for some years and it's been perfect. Very reliable and it shoots 2 3/4 slugs very accurately. Great shotgun for the money, plus it functions perfectly with light field loads. Also have an old Benelli M1 configured exactly with LPA sights just like the Mossberg and similiar length barrel. They look like one another. The Benelli functions well too even with field loads but it is much older and has been broken it until it now functions with everything. Great shotguns, both the Mossy 930 and the Benelli M1. Life is good.

My favorite thing aside from it being a good, reliable, and affordable semiauto shotgun is the safety switch. There's something about putting the safety switch next to the trigger that makes a safety less safe compared to the thumb safety switch... that and it makes it much easier to operate with either hand without breaking cheek contact with the stock.

I have the same shotgun. Little tweaks here and there and its been awesome! Big one was the OR3GUN spacer tube, functions much better with lighter loads for practice. Still trying to get the lifter welded up but its been a great shotgun.

Never been a fan of semi auto shotguns, but this one is a beauty and definitely one to consider.

I tell ya what, Ive shot clays and hunted with an 1100 rem since 1984.. my go to shotgun forever.. and about 4 yrs ago a friend asked me to go goose hunting, told me I needed a "3 inch at least".. I bought the 930 for $559.. let me just say I think it is my new favorite! Runs flawlessly, any loads.. light, easy to point, sweet low recoil..

Finally made a purchase of a new gun and I used Bud's. Super excited to see how smooth the process will be.

I have one of these and I love it. If you use 2 3/4 or 3 inch shells don't worry about one popping out onto the elevator... It won't affect the cycle...

I love my 930. I have a jm pro. Its been reliable for 1000 rounds. Ive played many games of trap it has never failed me. i wouldnt mind picking up a sfx

I’ve owned a 930 Blackwater edition for about 5 years, it’s an awesome weapon.

I got a 930 home defense with just the bead sight from Walmart few years back 399.00 on clearance for 299.00. Just got a ruger mini 14 ranch rifle 767.00 on clearance 599.00 . My local Walmart doesn't put much effort into selling firearms so they sit unsold in the display case for a year. They got a Henry big boy 357 and a 44 magnum waiting for them to go on clearance.

Mossberg is one of my go-to shotguns. I own a 500 20 gauge with a full choke. I like to do skeet shooting when I can and I go up against some of my buddies with a 12 gauge using the 500. Hits the target every time and easy to bring up from a low ready. Has yet to let me down. Shotgun is balanced and fun to shoot.

ive had my mossber 930 spx for 2 years, the only hang ups ive had were with the cheap bird shot roungs. 2 total failure to extract. but once i cleared it, I didnt have that problem. but with premium ammo, NOT ONE hang up. keep it clean, and you will be golden, I love this gun so much! if you are thinking about getting one, DO IT!

I love my SPX, it is an awesome shotgun. I keep the magazine loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 00 Buck.

In my opinion the first company that comes to mind when I think of shotguns is Mossberg. They are the best shotgun on the market hands down for the money

Also, shotguns just seem better with regular stocks.

I finally pulled the trigger on this baby I've been dreaming about for as long as I can remember. I feel like a child the night before mas and I'm not at all ashamed. Tried to get it delivered on the 4th being that it's my b-day but the 6th wil be fine. Happy 4th of July Sir to you and your family. Great video as usual. I’ve had my 930 “blackwater” edition for 4 years now and love it. Yeah, “blackwater” and a buck and a half will get me a cup of coffee at Denny’s. It has the pistol grip. Got it for a really good price. Shoots great.

Great review as normal. Recoil is why most LE agencies are going to reduced recoil loads. Follow up shots and not getting beat up is the reason.

We had the 930 and the M4 Benneli . Both are Marine proof. I preferred the Mossberg due to the top thumb safety.

I nabbed a used first gen SPX for $430 at a pawn shop. I've since read that the 1st gens were nearly nightmares for a lot of folks but I must have finally gotten lucky with a firearm purchase. Mine runs FLAWLESSLY

Bought 2 940’s….a buddy and I ordered them. One would hold 7 2 3/4” and the other, only 6. I field striped the one that held 7…..and after reassembling, it would only hold 6 ! Both have been sent back to Mossberg for examination, at their direction.

I got the 930 Tactical 8 shot, which is $300 less than the SPX. Spent the difference on a rail and reflex sight for it.

When i buy any firearm i usually ask them to pull out 3 or 4 firearms in the box and pick the best out of the bunch. You'd be surprised of both the differences in smoothness of the action and the quality of the finish between units of the same gun.

Owned 6 Mosbergs in Liberia, .22cal. 12g. 410.g. never a problem. This is in mid 1960.

13:25 made me save some money, it didn’t cycle the heaviest load you can put in it and they claim it has problems with lighter loads

It's a great shotgun. Installed the or3gun spacer tube and it makes this shotgun reliable!

probably shot around 250-300 shots with my new one, seems great so far never failed to cycle even the cheap walmart crap. The magazine is a bit tight at first.
