Thanks. I can't think of anything that's fake on here. Trying to keep it real. I like the gun. I found it wouldn't hold 7 rounds in the magazine. I contacted Mossberg...and they sent me two different springs. All were same length as original. I tore the gun apart 20 times. I guess I must have got the spring aligned because now it magically holds 7. Meanwhile, my friend bought the same gun at the same time and had same problem. They sent him a shorter spring for the magazine. Works great. Who knows?
I like semiauto tactical shotguns a lot…they are so handy and versatile…just picked up a 940 Pro tactical this morning from my dealer…have shot it about 20-25 times with high brass, medium loads, and lower powered loads…1 malfunction, a stovepipe with a light load…lost the front sling swivel stud…reckon it vibrated out…I really like it thus far in this short time…the choke tube capability is super…can do anything you want with this platform…did y’all get any extra choke tubes?…mine only had the cylinder choke tube…I have other choke tubes that fit it…The Browning Winchester pattern…I have a Holosun otw and I ordered the HB industries barrel/mag tube bracket as I feel its aluminum construction is more rugged and durable than the Mossberg polymer…I plan on using it on some turkey hunts this spring…should work perfectly with a turkey choke…more shooting tomorrow…I can shoot on my place too…country paradise!
Very cool. It's on my short list of semiauto shotguns I can afford that are actually made in the US. The Beretta A300 Patrol being the other consideration. I've been sitting on actually purchasing one for a long time and have been making do with my 18.5" Mossberg 590A1 which is great. But, at Shot Show this year, Mossberg unveiled a 940 Thunder Ranch version that actually has QD points for a sling vs. just sling swivels. So I'm glad I waited as having a means to attach a sling to it that enables defensive use is an important factor for me. It's just a preference, nothing wrong with the performance of the 940 that I can tell as it seems to be a big improvement over the 930. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! I'll checkout the Thunder Ranch as well. Pleased with the 940 performance. Only issue is mag capacity. Stated at 7, actually holds 6. Just bought the a300 ultima patrol today. Already have the 940 pro for several months now with the holosun. Haven't even shot the a300 and can already say I like the feel of the 940 pro so much more. I know a tactical shotgun is supposed to be light but the a300 feels cheap imo compared to the weight and stiff feel of the 940 pro. Just my 2cents.
Have you shot the A300 Ultima yet and done a more in-depth comparison with your 940 Pro? Just wondering how you think they compare. I'm trying to decide between the 940 and the A300 and I'm not able to compare them myself as none of my local dealers have either of them in stock. I've read that the A300 feels "plasticky" compared to the 940 which supposedly uses higher grade polymer for the furniture and I don't care for the nonadjustable rear ghost sight on the A300. The A300 is Beretta's "budget" model after all if that even means anything. For me, if it were a pump-action shotgun, it'd be Mossberg all the way, but for semi-auto...I don't know.
Thank you for the review. I pick mine up on Christmas Day (California resident, so had to wait the 10 days). I’m curious if you were able to actually load seven 2 3/4 shells in the mag. I’ve read some say that they can only fit 6. Thanks!
I could fit 6. I looked in manual and it may be something with the stopper in the tube. I'm going to dig into it and reach out to Mossberg as well. A quick search shows differences in shotgun shell lengths can contribute. More to follow..
@@ModernCountryLiving that’s what I was afraid of. It’s marketed as a 7+1 (using 2 3/4 shells), so that’s really strange. I’ve heard others on RU-vid had to release/extend the tube a little to allow 7 shells.
Thanks for the review! I just picked up my 940 Tac a week or so ago and haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I did add the velcro for the esstac shot cards, NDZ extended safety switch, and a sling to the gun, I do these mods to all of my tactical shotguns. Very much looking forward to getting it out and seeing how it runs!

Okay I just went in to do my background check and look at the gun and man the action was super stiff not smooth at all and it had something idk what it was but looked dirty inside the little whole at the base of the shell ejector. So just wondering if your guns action was stiff out of the box ?
@@woodson159 Solid. No issues with what you observe. Cycles nicely. I cannot get 7 into the tube and am working to get a new spring. Otherwise, enjoying it!
