A scoped rifle in a bolt allows for percise bullet placement, unlike a ar platform that look for hits anywhere on the body/target. Bolt action rifles by their design are accurate way beyond semiautomatics in the hands of a skilled shooter. A true marksman can work with anything so weather a rifle is 2 thousand or 500 bucks if you work with what you got you are still deadly no matter what.
I just purchased me one last week it is Mossberg 100 ATR2 Night Train3 .308 win. It came with a LBA trigger, fluted barrel, free floating barrel, and a UTG scope 4-16*50 with UTG rings. As well with a Cladwell metal bi pod. Mines rifle is OD GREEN haven't shot is yet. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMs WITH THE OIL ARE the bolt like you did. I'm glad Mossberg fixed them problems.
I just got in a Remington 783 308 I put a Barska 4x12x50 on and sighted in for 100 yards with hornady 155 hp. I got good deal on it scope mounts and gun under $550.00. Since really no recoil on 308 I'm not to worried about losing my zero I got it just to play around with. I mount the scope as low as possible to the bore. Yours seems a bit high but good luck with it
Bore sight means a laser out of the bore and then the reticle is adjusted to zero on that dot. That doesn't mean it'll translate into take it put of the box and be on target. It just means you have a good place to start.
I don't think that's typical. I've had nothing but good experiences with Mossberg's customer service. Also my 100ATR was the first hunting rifle I purchased many years ago, and It served me well. I had no such problems. My biggest issue was bolt tilt.
Tikka T3 or Sako A7 in .308 very nice rifles IMO at decent prices. I'll stick to Shotguns when it comes to Mossberg. Good detailed video on this rifle though and very honest...I appreciate that honesty... Because some ppl try to make a gun out to be more than what it is in quality. I hope you enjoy it and it continues to function properly for you.
Mainly price, the Remington 700's are more expensive but you get what you pay for, the ATR is really a good deal for the price point it's sold at, you get a solid shooting rugged gun that will last you a lifetime, it will out shoot most shooters.
I liked your video because in the mean time, I got a AR, a shotgun, and a glock as well, and I just saved enough money for a bolt action target rifle, high five! but I will buy a Rem700
I have a ATR 308 also but I have a Bushnell on mine. My bolt was polished when I bought it. My gun shoots great it's a nail driver at 500 meters me and glockerbob kill steel chickens at that range. Granted I did have to zero my scope but other than that I love the gun.
@ lewisgrandall. I didn't catch what he paid for his but all IV herd about the 4x4 is that there junk not putting down ur rifle. Yours may OK but my atr. 308 is a tack driver. Best shot yet was a white tail Buck at 550 yards. Although I an running a mildot scope I couldn't have gotten a better rifle.
Simple upgrades, lock tight the screws on the rail, Harris bi-pod 6-9, Leupold Mark II Scope, Mark IV rings and have a gunsmith do your trigger. About $700.00 in upgrades but it will be a shooter and reliable.
Really should have gone with the Savage Package deal with the 4X12 optic. Much better, much more accurate and a hell of alot tougher. But, good luck with the Mossy, I own several myself both Shotguns and rifles.
All atr rifles come with the lba trigger and I have a 30-06 and 308 in this rifle and they shoot just as well as my savage 111 270, great rifle for a great price, way better then shitty remington and better than savage axis rifle. My cousin bought a remington 700 7mm rem mag and after 6 shots the trigger spring broke in 2.
If you go to Boyd's.com you can get an upgraded stock, I did that to mine and it looks like a high dollar gun when in reality it's just a 200 bucks gun
Idk if I accidently missed the part when you spoke about why it's a pain to add one to the chamber. Thinking of getting this gun, b/c I found it on sale. Plz reply quick if you read this brother. thanks
I put down 3 to 4 inch groups with mine at 200 yards(5 shot groups where heat plays a factor), I'm an ok shot but I'm sure someone a bit more practiced than me could do a little better, I did a review on my channel if you want more info.
I got one for $450 at big r with a flash hider, padded cheek rest, larger scope, metal bipod, camo stock and the "accu trigger". Buds f-d you in the a.
I would like to know how you did at the range, because I was thinking about getting the atr 100 night train 2 and I have a 500 yard range at my house so I can shoot long range practically in my back yard.
Did you have any issues with the safety? I have an ATR in .308 win with a nice synthetic stock in Mossyoak camo. Everything about it is great....except the safety. When it works it works great but it will lock the bolt or trigger even when it is released.
Im torn on weather to get the Mossberg 100 or the Stevens 200 for a cheap .308 bolt gun. how does the stock feel [texture wise] when you are holding it? also I know it's only been 4 days but have you gotten to the range? if so what kind of groupings are you getting? Thanks, Nathan MyBigFatAmericanDream
How so, "Fone Star"? It's a decent Barka scope, a $250 scope for a mere $100 price delta. Unless you are going to go for a 1.5 mile shot, you don't need to spend $2500 on an NX or $3200 for a Swarovski Z8.
only 400, id go to walmart, get theirs paint the stock black buy a barska scope, then next week go buy another with the change then id have 2 guns like urs, the same barrel and action as S&W and weatherby and howa, all based off of the sako L-61 Finnbear, then progressed to the howa golden bear model fsd 43 manufactured in Nagoya, japan then in the S&W 1500 weatherby's version differd by flutes cut in the bolt then mossberg bought S&W, thus there the same guns
So he "isn't qualified" to rate this based on his personal experience? You decided that there is some set amount of trigger time required to like or no like a rifle? OK, I've decided you don't have enough keyboard time to post comments.
