Black Myth Wukong is an upcoming next gen RPG with sunning graphics and much more underneath the surface. Here's what we know. Subscribe for more: ru-vid.com?su...
Sun Wukong's staff is called Ruyi Jingu Bang, and it is a divine weapon given to him by the Dragon King I think. It grows to any size he wants. As tall as a mountain or as small as a needle.
It can also be as wide as you want… it’s really up to him what he wants to do with it. It was also written he could multiply the staff with magic and shit like that. Wukong is crazy
also its AKA "The Wishing Staff" in english, he literally just goes there beats up the guards and demands a magical weapon from the dragon king. i wonder if we can get that weapon?
This is exactly why there shouldn’t be any other weapons. I think a focus on the staff’s abilities gives opportunity for a very creative and fun combat system as a sole weapon.
I saw this game's gameplay few months ago and I thought that it's too good to be true. I really hope it becomes a reality because it literally looks perfect visually and I would love to experience an RPG game with new atmosphere and background.
I am sooo glad I found this channel!!! Not only do we get great creator and developer updates like this, we get great production value as well. Jake and Falcon and all the staff at gameranx thank you! Your work here just got me super interested in this game. I don't get to keep up on the industry that well so the daily content is very much appreciated!
As a Chinese gamer, I am excited for what this game can bring to the global gaming community. Chinese mythology is a treasure trove of wonderful stories largely undiscovered by mainstream game developers. Journey to the West is a very good introductory piece to the fantasy world of classical Chinese mythologies. I can't wait to see my childhood bedtime stories on a gaming screen. This is hundreds of millions of kids' dream come true. Absolutely looking forward to this. Fingers crossed please let this be good.
@@rickstorm4198 I’m not currently in China right now so I can’t speak to the truth of reports about Shanghai. Things do look pretty grim and I hope the situation gets better soon. That said let’s stick to the topic being discussed? 😅
Finally we’re seeing more about Blackmyth! It caught my eye immediately when they showed the first trailer. The setting is so unique, the visuals are amazing and the gameplay seems solid too! I will definitely be keeping up with this one.
I’m guessing this is going to be a “god of war meets dark souls” type of game. Where there’s very little customization because you’re not playing as a random NPC but rather a very specific character with very specific powers.
Sun Wukong in mythology can actually do almost anything.....can even shoot light beams like superman's heat vision from his eye......I think there will still be an equipment system, with powers they can do a lot of customization with the transformations alone
@@pieceofwood7064 Yeah, my guess is that these transformations will be our "weapon and armor" choices. For example, if you want to use a super cool fire greatsword you need to have the fire spirt transformation equipped. Maybe we will get to walk around with 4-5 transformations at a time before needing to find a bonfire to change.
This game, alongside "The Day Before" are both games that look incredible, but everyone should be very sceptical about, because they simply seem too be good to be true.
There hasn’t been an update on The Day before una while. I honestly believe they don’t even have a game. There’s no way in hell it’s dropping this June.
From everything I've been able to find since the first clip way back when gameplay was shown in order to help find people to work on the project, which in and of itself was a brilliant idea, Wukong is only the beginning of a series. They have many others that they plan to release under Black Myth.
Everything about this game till now is perfect. The lack of weapons holds to it's title myth. As in the myths sun wukong only has his staff. And the transformation aspect really looks good. Overall, I love mythology and would like to see it as mythologically accurate as possible. They can maybe add other storylines for charaters from the journey to the west.
1:35 you’ve actually missed a fourth one in the trailer. It’s the 齊天大聖 version. (The heavenly version of Wukong) so we don’t know if that’ll be the actual one we’ll get to play as either.
I love that there are more games coming out to compete with FromSoft, dont get me wrong I love all the fromsoft games. thousands of hours put into those. I am happy to see more people enter the space with good intentions to further the genre not just copy it.
yeah it would be nice to have a quality souls like, because all of them suck. The surge, lord's of the fallen, hell point, mortal shell, they all just feel too janky.
I loved reading Journey to the West. The Rise of the Monkey King, Trouble in Heaven, and The Immortal Peaches. It’ll be great to play a game based off that 16th century novel which also influenced the popular Dragon Ball franchise.
Despite how I loved Elden Ring I'd say open world could be a trap. It takes a lot of experience and resource to pull off right. I think for the best of this project it's better for them to follow a non-open world approach but focus on the level design and non-linearity instead.
This gave me more of a God of War vibe with the camera angle and combat. It’s probably a linear story, and it seems to have a reactive combat system like God of War
I do agree that some of the transformation maybe optional and kinda like a collectible or some sort considering the number, but making them randomly dropped like a weapon seem to be unlikely due to the transformations being a vital aspect/ability in the story of Sun Wu Kong.
No video game developer should ever consider the sales figures in just their country, especially if you intend on selling the title globally. Sure, 80% of the game market in China is mobile, but the global game market has millions of PC players as well.
China probably had as many mobile gamers in China alone as ps gamers in the world. Soo the video game industry seems like it's purposefully not including you
I remember when I saw the gameplay trailer for the first time, my mind immediately went to the show from years ago called journey to the west (as the name of the novel). I think there was also a film with Jackie Chan and Jet Li Which was loosely based on it. I'm very curious as to what the full game would be like.
Ruyi jin gu bang (i.e. golden staff) is the favorite weapon of Wukong. He stole the golden staff from the palace of the east sea dragon (east poseidon? whatever.). The staff weights around 68,000 kg and it changes size according to Wukong's will. Wukong will normally shift the staff to needle size and keep it in his ear.
I think with the weapons and abilities shown, it's reasonable enough to assume you do play as Sun Wukong. I've been so hyped for this game since the first teaser trailer. Feels good to see this game getting more attention in the west.
this game has looked CRAZY incredible since its first trailer - I really hope they're able to get a smooth movement and combat system with a lot of depth of combos/creativity, that's the most important thing for me - if the game feels good to play and interact with, I think it will help to draw people in, because atm NOTHING feels as fluid as a souls game
I have been very excited for this gorgeous looking game. The characters and enemies have been so interesting and I would love to see more. Plus the landscapes are breath taking
I think that your for certain playing as wu Kong as his staff which was actually a pillar (I think from the big boss dragon) that could change shape when needed and duplicates through god magic so is an extremely special thing as although journey to the west has many fancy and odd weapons (they literally have a sneer that sucks up anything and a jar that melts you) but these are all tied to specific demons/gods
My Girlfriend is Chinese, and because of her I got to read the books and learn deeply about the Journey to the West and how much this means to Chinese people. This tale is something it’s told to kids as a bedtime story, the original show is something carved in their hearts and it’s beautiful to see her excited for it, and now me! It’s crazy to me how insane this story is and no one has been able to make it real in any form of recent medium properly. People that don’t know the story, should go read some of this character’s feats and what he can do, that will get you excited for the game. Apparently there is a lot of theories that people make of the original story, and the characters and the world… some crazy theories, and I think this game aims to explore this darker side of the story, since the actual book are suppose to be a comedy and very philosophical.
Hey man, it's a nice change that this isn't a "10 things we want...." list kinda thing. I love your lists, I watch em everytime. But it's nice to just hear you talk about something, without the top 10 thing going on ✌ Best channel on RU-vid 4 sho 👏
My main concern is the Chinese government’s random approval/disapproval that can sink a game no matter what. Hopefully they can finish and get it past the censors and out to us.
It prolly had to get pre-approved to get started. Its based on a Chinese legend...should show an interesting side to Chinese culture and whatnot. So I think it won't be shutdown by the gov.
The game looks like something that is in-line with Chinese public diplomacy. They want to promote their ancient culture and mythology. From what I can see, this is one of the few types of games that can be released.
A lot depends on how closely they want to follow the lore of WuKong. The staff itself is mythical that can expand or shrink. For example he shrinks it down so small he can put it in his ear in the lore. Anyway personally excited to see how they do this but I'm ok with staying with the staff as long it stick to mythical status in the lore.
At like 8:55, I think this is a reference to the many times that Sun Wukong has challenged the heavens and fought them all to a standstill, I mean the title he's given himself is 'The Great Sage Equal to Heavens' so having him fight what looks like a celestial army would be very cool. Can't wait for its release it looks like so much fun and I can't wait to spend hours of my freetime researching the lore of the game.
The monkey king is an absolute unit!!! It took a few gods to take him out and when he got his powers back he was able to beat those same gods...game looks amazing
I have been chomping at the bit for this game to come out and been following it since the first trailer. The graphics are insane, the movement, the gameplay. The day I can preorder this game I am in ❤
If we’re being realistic in the time frame I speculate wu Kong wouldn’t have a health bar, like he’s eaten an entire grove/orchard of immortal peaches I think a bunch of immortal booze and a bunch of other things that grant immortality
considering how nearly unkillable the monkey king is in the actual myth i think it would be good to make him lose through other medium, maybe failing to protect the monk or be sealed by some strong magic, i dont really know honestly.
The transformations are really cool. There's not a lot of action games nowadays where you can do something like that on the go. The staff extending upwards when the ground is being electrocuted is also awesome. The mechanics and physics of this game has me hyped, the beautiful graphics is just a plus for me. Still, I want to keep my expectations low because what we see in these trailers might not be what we get in the final product.
I've been excited for the game for a while, but for two issues- 1. The combat doesn't feel really during certain gameplay trailers (felt like it would be button-mashy since the stamina bar wasn't depleting much). Though they may intend to iterate the gameplay and tighten up the difficulty. 2. There are so many abilities for the Monkey King that I wonder if this should be split into a series of games so that the mechanics have enough time to breathe during the progression.
It's based on a TV show called monkey Magic the Character looks the same and the character has a Cloud that he can fly on to get around and a staff that he fighters with.
@Gameranx I really hope the people who are making this game take their time and make this a masterpiece cause I already am on the boat for the monkey king I just need to read the novel
For us more "seasoned" folk, there was a Very popular young adult tv show called Monkey based on "A journey to the west". Extremely good value show for the time.
The game play looks amazing, backgrounds look like something you could get lost in, but what has caught my attention the most was the music playing in the background. Please tell me that's music from the game. There's one thing I really rely on in games and that's a stellar sound track to keep you moving forward in the game; something that grounds you, gives you the energy to go for it, something that calms you in between battles, and, when the battles begin, something that riles you up so you can get your reflexes going and your blood pumping! The music in a game is what can, for me take a game from a 9 to a 10, or take a game that's amazing and brings it down a notch when the music is a let down. Too many times I've found I've gotten bored too quickly of a soundtrack and had to turn off the GM and turn on my Spotify Playlist, which can really take you out of a game. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
The trailer was so friggin good! I was hyped but skeptical when the trailer was released but still hoping for the best since Journey to the West is one of my favorite childhood series
I've been looking forward to this since the first time I seen it. It looks absolutely beautiful and the combat looks fantastic. I cant wait until its released and look forward to countless rage quits while playing.
The thing about Souls like games that I don't like is that hard does not always equal fun. If they do make it so you can take a few hits before you're in trouble, I'd like that very much.
I'm hoping it's mostly like God of War and Jedi Fallen Order with DMC combat but with Elden Ring bosses. A game that lets you feel like a badass from the very beginning and a god by the end but forces you to earn it.
Regarding damage and stats, they have said in past interviews that those elements haven't been finalized yet and were only there as kind of fillers in the trailers.
Actually Wu Kong has a live action show from the 80s that was pretty popular in China check it out. I believe you can watch the first Episode here on YT
Im a souls veteran and Jedi Fallen Order is actually pretty damn hard on Jedi Master difficulty. The combat is a little janky compared to souls and it's just really hard to not get hit in that game.
I honestly can't enjoy Fallen Order since the combat just feels so damn sloppy compared to the Fromsoft games, even DS1 feels a bit better than whatever Fallen Order did. I feel like I really should've played Sekiro and DS3 after I played Fallen Order lol
This game reminds me of the anime God of Highschool with the monkey king, his staff (which is called Yeoui). If you read the manga you could see so many Yeoui forms and maybe learn some lore about it (it is an anime adaptation of the original story but it still has quite similar concepts/lore about it)
