I use the dolly forward and backwards with the subject centered & balanced on a wide lens all the time! It's my love for Wes Anderson that drives that one!
Low key this made me tear up! Keep at it Peter, you are doing amazing things by inspiring others and continuing to create incredible things. All while staying humble.
WE have been trying the gimbal ' dolly in and dolly out' and slide ways shots too often and love them in the videos. We don't often use the rotate shots too often. We love Matti and Peter
I just want to say thank you Matti. You gimbal tutorial has really helped me. I had a few commercial shoots this month and your tips really helped me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insight. You've been a big help in my filmmaking journey.
Love this type of effective hands on tutorials and you nailed it again Matti! I love when good moves are combined with each other or why not zooming or speed ramping. Keep ’em coming Matti! 👍
Nice that you’re teaching this right now cause I’m having video shootings ahead about guy whos going for a long trekking trip so lots of walking shotz. Kiitos!
My favorite gimbal-move is a tilt-down into a dolly-in. (usually starting at the sky, going down and than dollying in to the face of a character). Pretty much allways works for me.
I really loved the last part of your video. Showing us the "1 take shot" Ive seen a lot of videos on different gimbal moves but no one ever really went over that. Can't wait to try it out :)
I love how you always start with some awesome B Roll followed by great and inspiring information for the rest of us. Keep teaching and we'll keep learning.
Good tutorial. I liked the last combination with the truck best. Looked great and shows you can combine a lot of skills in a single shot. I would think you and Peter could afford pants without holes in the knees by now :)
Sooo eerie, I try new things and like a day later, Matti comes out with a video that perfectly answers all my questions! It’s like you read my mind man. Great video again!
Thanks so much! I'm literally going to rewatch this to take notes... My Husband gets so mad at me because the angles I shoot suck so bad! We never use my shots 🤣. Thanks for the tips.
There´s one more tip you should add hehee. It is not related with gimbals but it is with filmmaking. SLOW MOTION. Almost everything will look tons better in slow mo. great content Matti.
At first I was like "oh, another awesome video but its gonna be just useful for the people who have DSLR cameras" and I was so wrong! Im sure I could do some of that shots only with my phone, thanks Matti! 💥💪🏼
BTS of you hanging off the truck to get that final shot would have made this a perfect video Matti! Peter drove pretty fast there hey?... haha... hang on mate! Really nice work.
Ya man... I got the long arm and it helps. You need to play with the motor for the shots. When you flip the camera it almost feels like it's taking a load of the one motor and all on to the other. So depending on the weight of the camera you need to adjust for certain shots
Really enjoyed this video Matti. Good information and easy to understand and digest. Just bought a DJI Osmo Mobile 3 and will be practicing the moves you talk about in preparation with an upcoming trip to Europe..............thanks
That was a really great tutorial. I have the crane M for smaller mirrorsless cameras and I’m very excited to put it to use. Thanks for your ideas. That truck shot was excellent!
An important matter to keep in mind with Gimbals is to not hold them so the actual arm is 90 degrees below the camera. Holding the arm at an angle of about 45 degrees, the small shakes disappear from walking. Especially when running.
Great tips! I was surprised you did this after raving about your glidecam so much. I think glidecams had their day in the sun, but it's a gimbal world now.
Matti, love your videos-they’ve helped me grow so much this year as a videographer. Do you have any tips on how you travel with your gimbal? Do you just throw them in their respective cases? Or is there an easy way to pack them without having to unbalance the arms?
Great video! Really helps you contextualize the shots and put together a quick shotlist so when you roll into a project you can quickly conceive and execute coverage. Thanks @Matti Haapoja!
