muscadine cuttings are fairly easy to propagate save your prunings late fall cut itto 10-12 inch pieces always cut ground end at a slant bundle wuth rubber band place in fridge not freezer take out about feb now you can scrape bottom end till see green about 1-1/2 in all way around the bottom end put in i gal pot with good potting soil i use vigero keep damp weather permitting set out in sun 1 hr if its working soon you will see some tiny green leaves dont let them dry out youare looking at about 3 months of tlc but by now should have bigger green leaves leave the alone dont pull on them to check youwill breakoff tiny hair like feeder roots remember we are looking for a vine so leave it be awhile once you have vine growth you plant in garden or where ever this not the only way to get a new vine when you have some fruit save some seeds use same method they will sprout
you can propagate the vines by taking cutting of about 2 -3 yr old vine about 12 in long brown wood 1/2 in dia scrape bottom end about 1-1/2 in of bark dip in root ing powder (optional) place in 1gal pot of good potting soil wet it place in indirect sun light keep it damp take off most all leafs put down about 6 in deep should see new growth in 4 - 6 weeks as it grow add somt time in direct sun about 1 hr to start more later own good luck
@@frankdavidson9675 You can root tomato cuttings in a cup of aerated water (Using an aquarium air pump). I wonder if muscadine grape cuttings could be rooted in this manner?
What's the best way to determine which variety. I recieved a muscadine vine as a gift. The only thing he mentioned is that it has a milder flavor than other varieties. I tasted one when it was a bronze color. It tasted milder than muscadines I remember from my childhood. Those Dad grew in South Florida were very strong in flavor--nothing like grocery store typical grapes. I've never seen muscadines for sale in grocery stores.
