MOST COMMON FRACTURE IN BIKERS 🚴‍♂️

When you have a bike accident, most of the time the bone that gets affected is the tibia bone or the bone connecting your knee to your ankle.
Why does this happen? Because during an accident when your bike falls on high speed, you try to balance it with your foot, out of pure instinct. This leads to an excessive pressure on the tibia bone, leading to fracture.
The fracture also occurs after the accident when you are trying to pull yourself out from under the fallen bike. The excessive force used ends up breaking your tibia bone. So during bike accidents, please be careful how you get out from under the fallen bike.

Sir, I had a bike accident 5 months back where my tibia is broken at 3 places and fibula at one place, had to undergo surgery where the nail(titanium rod) is inserted. Surgery went good, but I'm afraid how much time will it take to form callus as it is only observed near fibula. I'm concerned about the tibia bone as am still using 4 leg Walker to walk around and hardly 50% weight I can put on it.😢 I want to walk atleast with single stick but am not able to put full weight yet. Swelling is reduced mostly but still observed near ankle as leg gets little hard if I sit for longer time as I work sitting in front of computer as I started working back from 4th month due to financial issues. Later while on bed, the swelling completely goes away within an hour due to blood circulation. I do exercise and have maintaining good diet. My question is: 1. Is daily movements and sitting for 8,9 hours working affect the healing time? 2. Also, drinking goat milk will benefit the fractured bone? 3. What extra do I need to do or avoid anything so that I see improvement in my next X - ray that is in July 2023?

Hi Metal Knight such fractures may take longer time to heal as compared to simple fractures. here are the answers to your questions 1. no, it shouldn't 2. Can't comment on that but it should not harm definitely 3. discuss with your surgeon if any procedure like dynamization will help in your case >>> For more you can also follow us on Instagram @drpankajwalechaofficial & facebook @ dr pankaj walecha, orthopaedic & joint replacement surgeon
