interesting. I now will have to look at my shelves and see what I have forgotten about. I rather enjoy New Riff, but was not in my area until recently. So I hoping to try more of them. maybe it will become forgettable, hopefully not. cheers
For my collection same boat with Eagle rare and michters sour mash. My friend drinks most of my Eagle rare though. My third is Jack Daniel’s SBBP. I like it but I just prefer other high proofs I have
I have to say that at this moment regular old Buffalo Trace is in the forgettable category for me. It's good, but there are so many other bottles that I can actually find that I like more.
I think price point definitely influences how forgettable a bottle is. Eagle rare used to be my daily driver. It could be had for 25 bucks a bottle on base tax free. These days its definitely on my forgettable list although i always have a bottle and backup on hand.
I agree Old Tub is 'meh', I agree the Sour Mash is 'meh', but the Eagle Rare (at MSRP) will always be a favorite of mine. Worth $30 all day long. $80 is ludicrous. For me, 'meh' is Elijah Craig NAS, 1783, regular Makers Mark. They aren't bad, just boring.
New Riff SB are all over the place. Had some I loved and others I considered dumping. For that reason, I probably won’t buy more. Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark, Basil anything, Woodford Reserve (except the Master’s Collection), Russel’s 10 year, Rebel… I’ll stop because I’m boring myself and pissing people off.
