Sole bright is basically baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Just buy those in your grocery store and mix them until you make a paste. Do the same as she did here with different sessions. Also had the same AF1 with yellow sole, I got the same result as the one in the video.
I used 30vol developer and blue bleach powder. Make a paste, apply to sole, cover with cling flim and leave it for a few hours, I kept it indoors cause I don't have access to direct sunlight. The soles became white than new! :D
@@saims.2402 30 volume developer is a liquid product that is typically combined with powdered bleach (for hair), there is also 10 volume developer as well as 20 and 40 volume developer (if im not mistaken). the higher you go along the developers, the “stronger” & faster the bleaching process is. ex: when 10 volume developer is combined with the powdered bleach, it lifts/lightens hair at a much slower rate than 30 volume developer. i hope this helps!
I wonder why everyone making these restoration videos say "I recommend using a toothbrush that you will NOT use again!" Lmao do you honestly think our teeth are so yellow that we are going to brush our teeth with the sole sauce?
You can use bleach or some type of bathroom cleaner. Just don't mix bleach and ammonia and you should have clean shoes. Also, don't leave anything in bleach for too long, it will deteriorate.
Never heard of a sole bright before so I just used a whitening detergent for clothes and surprisingly it worked after 2-3 tries! Thanks a lot for the tips 👍🏻
@@doeeyes2 Yes! Adidas superstar 1 and 2 are horrible at this. They turn yellow and become stiff easily if you don't wear them often. It's so wack and Eye love superstar 1s (with the flat old school tongue)
Thank you for this info. I've been looking to restore several pairs of shoes and your video shows that the product works as intended and that there are some necessary steps to prep it to work properly.
My wife used to work at angelus She would always bring me all kinds of shoe cleaning products along with different types of paints to care for my shoes.... It’s located in Santa Fe springs California..... Their products really work...
Just to let y’all know sole bright and salon care volume 40 are almost the same thing, and you can find that online or at any beauty supply store and get way more for way less!
I seen your video like last year but never tried this because I have like 50 other pairs of shoes so my sole bright came in from Amazon yesterday and I just did my Air Force 1’s and after one application pretty much all the yellow was gone and then I did it 2 more times and now they look brand new again.!. Thanks for posting this video because before that I had no idea how to get them back white and I was gonna throw them away or used them for outside shoes😀😀😀😀
I just did this with salon 40 creme yesterday to a cpl pairs of old air 1s and some dunks. I am amazed of how the soles came back so bright white!! I’m just starting to customize and I’m a big fan of ur channel!! I like ur style!! Just copped some stencils off ur site too. Thanx for all the vids!! I’m finding them very informative!! Could you point me in a direction for hangtags? I really like the LV supreme vans u did a long while back. I was gonna try to do them but I can’t find hangtags anywhere!!?
What you failed to mention is the magic eraser actually takes off the top layer of gloss from both the shoe and the sol of the shoe Do this over and over and you will start noticing cracks and less gloss on the entire shoe itself (wherever you use it)
@@SS-zi6nf Soap and water won't do that, but it you start using an abrasive it's going to remove the top layer so be very accurate when using it and use light pressure is good advice.
This is helpful, thank you for posting. The Nike store in NY is doing customizing on certain styles, one element (among many) is dip dye. I want to try it but keep the soles white - - this will help if any die spills.
FYI for anyone who wants to do this, u don’t need sole bright, go to your local hair salon and BUY “40 VOLUME CREME” works just as good! I promise u. And apply it the same way she did in the video
Making your own mix can work .Not the 40volume for the bottom because it messes up the traction .did this on my air python 2s .baking soda /peroxide 2:1 ratio ,microwave for 12secs throw in some oxi clean powder(might not matter if omit ) like 1/2tsp stir until paste .take a toothbrush to apply it to the sole .wrap it with plastic wrap .put in direct sun for 30 min a session.wash it under cold water after each session .Do it on all sides ,done 💯 don't need to order products if you don't mind another step .Just sharing some knowledge,IN MY EXPERIENCE💡
You don't need sole bright, I'm pretty sure all it is is a peroxide based cream, which you can get at beauty supply shops for really cheap, and you get a lot more of it. People in the video gaming community do this a lot for old yellow gaming consoles.
Does the sessions mean you have to reapply the sole bright again? Or just rinsing off the sole bright with cold water and leaving them out in the sun again
Steve Patrick really? can u please tell us the process on how you do it with lemon and baking soda? i have a kobe 10 rose gold and its sole is slowly yellowing. in my country we dont have this product available in the market.
You post the most thoroughest tutorials, best channel I seen thus far.....and your good looking (so that's a plus)........Is there any way we could get a full restoration tutorial with beat up wrinkled all white AF1's or Dunks.?..?...?
Leaving my air force ones outside is how they turned yellow. I bought this cleaner from Amazon called Poychi shoe cleaner and I tested it out on two pairs of sneakers. It works. I haven't tested it out on my air force ones though. The Poychi shoe cleaner is $14.99 for a 3 pack. I didn't think one would be enough, so I bought a 3 pack.
In this day and age why the heck hasn’t anyone invented a stay white sole.. you can collect and never wear the shoes and the soles still yellow.. frustrating
Yeah I have a pr of DC skate shoes. Brand new in box but ended up stored as a back up pr. Took out of box & just 1 side of 1 shoe on sole is yellow, rest is stark white. Frustrating.
Sophiesophss can you plz help me im customizing a pair of airforce 1 lows abd forgot to tape the midsole and paint got on it,how do i take off the paint with out touching the paint leather
I spent about $500 on my gym shoe collection. Thought they were ruined because the all got old and yello. Now after watching this video I am hopeful. my only concern is that ll that scrubing makes my fingers hurt. hopefully theres an easier way.
Just go to Sally's (or your local hair care spot) and buy 40 volume peroxide hair cream. Paint that shit on affected area and either toss in the sun for a full day OR if you have a black light (UV lights) put them under it for at least 12 hours but 18-24 is best.
ok right vol.40 hair developer oxidizing cream 12%. but dont agree for a full day under the sun, that would destroy the shoes material (leather, fabric, adhesives) and cause detached soles. 30 mins to 1 hour is enough.
I'm in Turkey. On the "official" Nike web site here, they actually showcase a pair of new Nike shoes that they sell with the souls already yellowed. Not sure why someone would want that, but.....trends.....
Damn. My playoff 12’s are lookin clean AF! I was a lil skeptical but this shit really work. You just need to be patient. Ima try it on my concords and space jams next
My forces are 4 months old but they still look like I just bought em but my mom dipped the bottom in bleach to clean it now half of the bottom is white and yellow
i went thrifting and copped a pair of AF1s from 1987. Gray and blue (blue material is cracking off, anyone know a fix for that?) and the sole is white but seriously yellowed. thanks for this!
Magic Eraser is an abrasive. Think of it as super fine sandpaper. I'd highly recommend not using that on the leather upper. Also, it has chemicals in it so I'd also recommend using gloves.
I wonder if it's the sun that's aiding in the whitening process ie UV light or if it's the heat from the sun, in order words I am wondering if placing them on a shoe rack and drying them on Medium heat would have the same effect?
correct...... the sun is a natural UV light which removes the yellowing so about 85 percent sun and 15 percent heat......only downside is that you gotta leave it outside (if you live in a apartment goodluck) unless you buy a indoor purple UV light most use at home that works just as good if not better tbh
Great vid Sophie, I'm trying to restore the same exact shoe...Except they're the Supreme OD Green with the gumsole..My question is, will this process destroy, or ruin the gumsole, or OD green canvas upper ??
