I did the exercises in this video so many times that the passive range of movement become an active movement. God bless you Dr. Tobias for helping us stroke survivors.
please give me some advice. My father had a stroke the past week and now he cannot move his left arm and leg 😞 cannot even smile or talk right even the voice is weak . How long did it take for you to recover and did you recover fully? how long did it take for you to be able to do walks again( that's what he loves the most 😞).
@@MAN9027 See if given proper treatment....medicine and physiotherapy.....walking can start in about 1 month to 40 days after stroke....speech can improve within few weeks with proper speech therapy...... full recovery takes time.....say 7 to 8 months depending on the health since each individual is unique with different health conditions...but remember never stop the medicines as prescribed by doc and plus physiotherapy is a must.. I hope u got what u wanted to know.... Btw how is ur father now? How much is the improvement? It's been more than a year I saw ur comment todya
@@Koyal-kw2mn very little progress still no movement in the right arm. Can walk some steps with a cane and someone watching so still very dependent til this day. Thanks for the information and for asking though
Sooo happy I found this channel. With insurance restrictions we have had weeks go by with no therapy for my husband after his stroke. You are a lifesaver and possibly the only hope we have for recovery of movement. Bless you!

Hello. I just wanted to make a quick comment. First Thank you, so very much. I cannot express, how much your channel is helping my wife. She suffered a severe stroke. And, then did therapy for six months. And we did not realize how much she was falling behind, with the therapy she had. To put it nicely. The video's you put out are a God send. Your are absolutely amazing, with how relevant and helpful you are. I guess, I already, overshot a quick comment. So I will stop there. Again, Thank you , thank you.
I appreciate you so much! You help me as a caregiver so much with giving good, safe, informative exercises to my husband! You are definitely God sent😘🤗
I am 62 and have had cerebral palsy from birth And I’ve never been able to use my left arm very well Physios of always give me exercises to do that have made me worse But I watched one of your videos and I thought yes I’ll treat myself as though I’ve had a stroke And I have really noticed a big difference in the movement I’ve got in my left hand since watching your videos Thank you for taking the time to make these videos to help people like me I am going to tell all the medical people I am under about your videos and How there helping me
2015 had a stroke my doctor caused that I met a woman. , woman said to late left arm working its to late I need a Levage, I planning my son, plplanning fish .
Thanks for posting. Ihad a stroke in July 2019 Ireally want to go back and make useof my left leg and left arm/hands . I hope to see more videos Thanks a lot!
After 3 and half years I started reaching out with my paralyzed arm. I did a lot of weight bearing exercises. I believe that helped me a great deal. The saying that ywhat you get back within a year that’s the function that you will keep” is definitely not true. That one year mark is way off because our brain is still working after a year as well. The brain will not go out of business so to say after a year. 😀
Thank you for more exice you tell for us im from Phillipines im 34 years all and i stroke last feb10 this year wen i see you at the youtube iwalk my left hand recover faster your vidio you share so very very good doc. Thank you so match

Thank you so much, I'm coming up on my year mark, so I'm a little discouraged at this point with what hasn't returned, mostly arm, wish I would have found you sooner!
My wife has been paralysed for th past three years n watches ur channel non stop. It lifts spirits n urges her to try harder. My complements n best wishes to you.
Love all your videos Dr T ara ❤ thank you soooo muchfor everything you do for stroke survivors i watch you every day for the past 9months I've learned sooo much from youabout my self and my case, that my Dr wants to hire me as an assistant:):)
Your videos are very informative. I've found out more just watching your videos than my caregivers. Being on state medicaid has its shortcomings. In any case, thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing the above. No doubt you are a very good physiotherapist. One is really lucky to have to have session under you. You are awesome ❤❤
Thank you for all the help. Am 26 months post stroke. Still having difficulty being able to write. So days better than others. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Danny Stricklin
Without a doubt ,she is the best on the internet,I like Illinois, hate the winters but if I could afford to go to Orlando for a few months, it would be worth a great deal to have her for a therapist! Hurray for Tara Tobias ,she is worth her weight in gold dabloons
Insurance makes me so mad that they cut off payments if you haven’t made enough progress per them. Obviously there are no stroke victims in their office that has input on how critical therapy is. I got dismissed from the hospital a week after my stroke as I hadn’t made enough progress per their scale which they applied to everyone. They didn’t take into consideration how severe the stroke was. And then I picked a rehab place to send me to that was on their list of acceptable places to continue therapy. I picked one that was closest to my home. It was a disaster. It was basically a last stop nursing home. They didn’t know what to do with me. They had no program for stroke victims. Most of the people there where in those lay down flat wheelchairs. . I was not in that bad of shape. I was in a regular wheelchair that I pushed myself in. That place was a waste of money and time. I never had the same therapist two days in a row. It set me back so much. I was at two different rehab places after that horrible nursing home. I can walk now but still have a gait belt and a real OT which I’m about to lose because of insurance. I love these videos. ThNk you so much. Dr Tara. Are you a medical dr OT PhD?
More arm and hand videos please. I’m 5years post right brain stroke and would like to get back to dancing flamenco. Major stroke with very limited left arm movement so far. I can passively straighten it all the way, but if I try and actively stretch it out, it starts retracting right away.
Dr thank you so much for both explaining and demonstrating how to go about the same . Went through few of your videos . I can see a lot of improvement. Gratitude to you almighty gifted angel . 😍😍
Thank you doc for helping people like me you share more exercise i from Phillipines im a poor bat wen i see you yutube chanel iwalk passter an stand may left hand move i walk before can move bat now you share you vidio and i see wat can do no terahy because i have no money to pay you is my teraphy thank you so much doc
My husband Don and I want to thank you for your RU-vid therapies. You explain everything thoroughly and then show him how to do it. That has been so important to see it actually done so he can do them at home. When he does the shoulder flexion laying down I help with the affected arm and when he reaches back to the 90° his fingers open up. We were so happy to see that happened but when he is sitting to do that range of motion of course he can't go up that high so his fingers does not open up. Is this normal?
I found your channel when looking for exercises to help an elderly friend, almost 90 had a stroke and a heart attack. He's not been compliant, has no mobility on his right side. He has pain in his right arm. He would like to walk again. What exercises do I even start to help him Thank you for your great videos. I've learned a lot but ai don't want to hurt him
I love your exercise demo you’re very thorough and easy to follow. I have used up all the therapy that my insurance covered and I am left to my own devices now so I am always looking for new at home things I can continue to do . I have a tight arm with curled fingers so I do appreciate any exercises that focus on elongating these muscles.if I had found you before perhaps I would be further along with my arm function.
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave such a kind comment. It means a lot to me to know these videos are helping people. This video might help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gDxyQGyOx_0.html
Thank you so much , Iam Lucky to find your video. I'm going to start it tomorrow. Your a good therapist. Better than what we have here in U.K I'm going to share your video to my friends at stroke union associate today next week. GOD bless you.
Thank you! Yes, please share. The more I can reach people, the better. My channel is not big enough to reach people organically so sharing them really does help people to find this information :)
I had a stroke last year in January, I had really bad nightmare and anxiety really bad I couldn't really sleep stay still concentrate, let along workout to do any of these exercises, I couldn't do no therapy Theraphy or anything, and when I did get a chance to go, it went good, until they did 3 treatments of electric shocks on my upper thing and leg beneath the knee, after that..I noticed a big difference in my affected leg, it was stuffer, hard to do my workouts that I knew, and had learned, the bottom of Mt foot feels like a tight fist, it just seems like I lost what I learned and able to do good, before they did those 3 shock treatments on my stroke leg, so I didn't let them do no more, I didn't like how it made my leg feel, and I found myself feeling like I will never get my arm and leg use and strength back, because of the mental delay I had for the first year slmost, and it Makes it hard, when you feel like their not really listening to you, they say it's suppose to wake up/strengthen your muscles, but it feels like it did more harm, than good to me, I don't know where to turn for more help, I'm still not able to use my arm and leg, like I need to, do you have any suggestions, that could help lead me, in the right direction
I have post stroke symptom that won't allow me to fully extend my left elbow, highly frustrating, no anatomical reason for it so It must be a brain thing, is there a procedure that can get me on the path to rehabbing my elbow (left)? A therapist here said if it was a delayed reaction to my stroke, that occurred December 2021 there was nothing he could do about that :(. that was depressing to hear but I still feel that I can recover if I know what to do. I feel I have benefited from much of your advice already ,thank you so very much!
Hi Dr. Tobias, I am so happy and excited to have found your videos they have been a tremendous help allowing me to understand what's going on with my body as a result of the stroke. So, when I'm trying to perform exercises with my arm and hand, my hand will shake uncontrollably, am doing something wrong or overworking it?
Thanks for sharing this video, I have problems with my right hand , I have a lot of spasticity in my right hand, will not open up, the therapist wants me to get Botox for my hand.
Hello great exercise program. I have a patient with CVA and I need a brace to decrease the flex spasticity in his L arm. This is to wear during the day. Thanks
I am Muslim from Pakistan.Thank you so much. My mother is suffering stroke right side of body since 1 year. Your videos are very helpful for me to apply these exercises on my mother. Allah bless you ❤
Thank you for watching and for the EXCELLENT suggestion! I can see your point :) I hope you will watch some of the more recent videos. I have tried to incorporate more music :) Hard to play "good music" with all the RU-vid copyright rules but I do my best as I know that this is helpful. :)
I have mild weakness on my left side after brain cancer surgery and a seizure, I have a tendency to run into things, and my spatial awareness is off, so I struggle typing Like my pinky hits the caps lock when I mean to hit A or tab.. My symptoms aren't as severe as most, but this video definitely helps me understand that rehabilitation is possible If you have any recommendations on how to regain precision on fingers, that would be nice. for now I'm just rubbing it and practice typing as much as I can.
My patient didn't get a stroke but he has a motor Neurone disease We we're advises to do therapy, he's hands are too weak not paralyzed Does this help him out
