Five (5) most profitable crops have been well outlined in this video for both local farmers, urban farmers, as well as new investors in Nigeria and across the world.
The joy of any farmer is to make a profit at the end of the day after planting and this starts from choosing the right crops to cultivate.
The crops have been carefully picked after several years of farming practice and cultivation of these crops. They are tested and trusted and we, therefore, hope it informs your next crop selection for the planting season.

Kudos to you farmer Chidav. However, I think there is a miss up. In my opinion, there is supposed to be a categorization of those crop into vegetables, Semi-perennial and cash Crop. Oil palm should be into the category of cocoa, coconut, rubber, plantain, etc. While Ugu goes into the category of cucumber, cabbage, lettuces, etc Lastly, maize and potatoes, soya, etc falls into one category too. Placing oil palm side by side with maize and Ugu is... Nonetheless, kudos bro
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
Thanks for letting me in on that. Well, I didn't categorize the crops in groups or family. The crops were picked based on their market demand and the analysis we did from were we are here in Western part of Nigeria. This crops profitability are relative and what might be profitable here might not be elsewhere, hence, the reason for my stating the criteria for picking most profitable crops in any location at the beginning of the video. Anyways, thanks for your observation. That's really thoughtful of you Sir

If you actually follow this persons advice you'll be looking for where you kept your money cause palm firstly takes an average of 3-5yrs to mature not 3yrs let you mind look more on 4yrs and that's if you get the right breed and then sweet potatoes is a lot of work for not so much money But feel free to break your back digging and picking potato if you have a small amount of land do veggies water leaf, ugu, tomato... They tend to yield regularly and require a relatively small portion of land which is important for someone going into planting for the first time
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub Год назад
Well, I don't know how long you've been in the business, but I would appreciate if you give a constructive suggestion. Whatever crop you choose to go for like I well stated at the start of this video is a function of location, days to maturity, seasonality, market demand etc. So, if it's not working at your end doesn't mean it won't at another person's end. And mind you, this are practical picks, they weren't picked out of the blues. And there are a lot of factors to consider before you make a pick.

You will not find any staking ugu in Lagos. Ugu in Lagos grown on the ground only.
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
Well, that depends on the purpose of the farm in the first place. Staking is most necessary when cultivating for pods and not leaves.

Well quite informative but I doubt if the OP is a real farmer because his whole list is off,he said 5 most profitable crops but what he mentioned are 5 easy crops to grow,how did he leave out cucumbers that can yield #300-400 k from one plot of land during dry season or hot peppers that my farm manager got close to #800k from 700 crops from June to november ,,for me the most profitable crop to size of land is first cucumbers,peppers,watermelon,eggplant,okra,cabbage,,these are the money printing crops if you can manage it,none of those crops mentioned can pull in #100k from one plot of land but I have seen a plot of cucumber farm yield almost #500k in 80days
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub Год назад
The crops you mentioned are in no doubt quite profitable. But, I'm quite sure you don't have an idea of the crops and have not done a proper feasibility study on them, hence your conclusion, or have not really ventured into them. However, I always encourage expressing of our opinions constructively on this channel. We are all open to new ideas.

Sir, thank you for this informative video. Do you sell ugu, ewedu (jute), or okra seedlings? I want to start irrigation farming and only grow vegetables. I am thinking about growing sweet potatoes as well. What are your thoughts, Sir? Thank you.
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 5 месяцев назад
Yes, we have ugu seeds. And your crop choice are not bad, however, ensure you make market survey before you begin production, to see what the market really wants.

Bro, what about coconut farming? Should you rather go for palm tree farming?
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
I've not actually looked at coconut farming. But from the uses of palm oil, it's enough to show how lucrative it is. Palm oil is one plant that virtually every part of it is commercially useful. From, the oil, the kernels, the fronds, etc., all are useful.

@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
You welcome It depends on the spacing you choose. Though I recommend 2m by 2m if you're cultivating it on a commercial scale /for commercial purpose. Using 2m by 2m spacing , you'll have about 500 plantain stands on 3 plots.

The truth is both are on high demand commercially. But you have more demand for plantains than bananas, because of the various things you could do with plantains.

How can I buy palm tree that will grow and start bearing fruit within 3yrs?
@ChidavAgriculturalHub
@ChidavAgriculturalHub 2 года назад
Well, you would need to get an hybrid variety. And due to our management practices here in Nigeria, you might not have your palm tree bearing fruits until after like 5 years and then, you start getting full harvest after 7 years. But from hence forth, it shall start to produce every month.
