Most Shocking KPOP Disbandments From 2011 To 2022 

I think gfriend was the most shocking for me. All the temporary groups were going to disband eventually, because companies want moeny money money, but gfriend came out of nowhere, and no announcement, no statements, and no news came out of it. 2021 was the worstyear of k-pop for sure though.

For me, the most difficult was GFriend because it was so sudden. I'm still bitter about it to this day (I still support the members in their activities)! Iz*One was tough too, but we knew there was an end. It's unfortunate that the agencies would not agree to let them continue a little longer since they were disrupted by the Mnet voting scandal and the pandemic so they couldn't meet their fans or release a sixth single to say goodbye.

2NE1's 2016 disbandment is a different kind of heartbreak that may take forever to heal. Whenever the members talk about it, you can see how much they didn't want to disband. And finding out about it through news/media is like putting salt to the wound.

Man 2021 was a terrible year for kpop stans. The abrupt covid pandemic, Gfriend disbanding, Izone disbanding, no offline concerts... It's so sad to see historical groups disband that easily in just a year

2ne1 disbandment was really sad and unfair. the way yg handled bom's "scandal" which tarnished her reputation, minzy being forced to leave, them being disbanded without them even knowing... they are legends, they are one of the reason why yg and kpop are what they are today, they deserved so much better. i'm glad that CL is able to get them for a reunion though

We can all agree that it’s so painful to hear our favorite groups disband. For me personally I was really shocked and hurt with Gfriend’s and IZ*ONE’s disbandment. With Gfriend’s disbandment we really didn’t get a full explanation on why they disbanded and IZ*ONE’s disbandment was marked the first great lost in Kpop of 2021. But in the end I truly wish them the best with whatever they are doing and will continue to support them no matter what. Hopefully in the future these groups can perform together as a whole just like how Wanna One did.

We will never forget izone and GFriend. They were one of the backbones of their generation and the best ones yet.

GFRIENDs disbandment still tore me to pieces until today:( my girls deserve better... This really made me want to burn SoMu... but the disbandment that pains me a lot is also izones one... even though we saw it coming, i feel so attached to izone... i love all 12 members... i miss them... pleas reunite... that’s the only thing I can wish... but... starship... please... i will literally do almost anything for them to reunite... i miss their chaotic selves... rigged or not, the girls don’t deserve that hate... the producers do... the girls had nothing to do with it... leave chaewon alone... leave wonyoung alone... leave yuri alone...(these 3 were hit the hardest...) i am sure izone would have one more comeback if they don’t have that hiatus... they would have dominated the kpop stage... please comeback... but i will support all their activities, both individual and group(for chaewon, Kkura, yujin amd wony) even though they both (gfriend and izone) left, a part of my heart keeps beating for them... i keep thinking that they are still one... i refuse to accept it... but i will forever be a buddy and a wizone... till the end of time...

The disbandments that shook me the most were Sistar, Nu'est & Gfriend they came out of nowhere for groups like 2NE1, Miss A, CLC or Pristin it was so obvious(for me) that they would disband after members left the group or didn't had any group activities

2ne1 disbandment still hurts me, they were the first group that introduced me to kpop, i didnt even know back then that a genre of music like kpop exists the way yg handled (or didnt handle at all) bom scandal angers me to my core and this sudden news about their disbandment... i just feel how cl is still sad about whole situation and how all of the girls want to comeback as a group

CLC's disbandment wasn't the shock but it was the process of it that was the biggest shock for me. I got into them in 2020 when yeeun was on good girl. Finding out or waking up to news about how your favorite group is being mistreated is hard to see knowing we can't do much as fans but just hope for the best and support them. Sorn said in an interview this year that all of the members of CLC wanted to renew and focus on the group because CLC was getting a lot of recognition in 2019 but cube said they only wanted to focus on solo activities. Sorn said she new the group could have gone further and that all members had a passion for CLC and they didn't want to let cheshires down either. The process of elkie, sorn, seungyeon and yeeun leaving was really sad. I'm glad yujin is now following her dreams now and I hope seunghee and eunbin are doing well still in cube. Seungyeon said right now she wants to do music but she wants to rest for now and find a company that can accept her values. We hope CLC can pull a GOT7 or VIVIZ or more members can go solo because CLC is really loved by so much fans around the world.

As a hardcore buddy, GFriend’s disbandment hit me like a truck and I was truly heartbroken 😭

The only one I felt impacted by was 2NE1, listened to them as a elementary school student and hearing the disbandment hurt a lot. I miss them a lot but they're doing well with their solo careers and other activities. I just hated how they were mistreated.

GFriend's disbandment hit me the hardest. I'm still not over that one. They always did their own thing and had their own unique sound and sometimes I fear that we will never see another group like them again. Anyway, watch Kim Sojung's and Yerin's respective dramas, love and support soloist Yuju, and stan Viviz for clearer skin and a happy life!

I'm literally still sad about 2NE1 disbanded, I really wanna love new groups I really do, so I started stanning LOONA and now that stuf with Chu I'm literally terrified also the financial stuff of blockberry its so hard to fully go for a group, some times I wished I was a Sone atleast snsd is coming back 😔

Although I don’t listen to gfriend, their disbandment was the most shocking to me because how could a group as popular as them disband out of nowhere ? I remember seeing buddys (I think that’s their fandom name?) hyping their comeback and then crying about the disbandment not too long after. On the other hand, CLC’s disbandment wasn’t really too shocking to me because I knew things were gonna go downhill once Elkie left and then Sorn started speaking out and then Yujin on Girls Planet. I was still surprised because I got into them during No era and to hear of their mistreatments since pretty much their debut was insane to me.

the disbandment news that shocked me the most was definitely gfriend. i wasn’t really into any of the mentioned groups but i had started liking gfriend bc of mago. little did i or the members know it would be their last. i wish to see more of them though

I think the most heartbreaking one was GFriend and I say this as someone who isn’t a Gfriend Stan. I wasn’t really following them but was aware of how popular they are and how much impact they had on the industry. I was very sure that they would be one of those long lasting groups especially after the success of mago. It went viral on Twitter and went straight to my playlist. I would put them up with Red Velvet as the most interesting groups musically with them both having very strong discographies. After watching Queendom, the first episode made me feel really sad for GFriend. Seeing SinB talk about the group made me appreciate the group more and little regretful for not looking into them while they were active. Those girls were rightfully respected by everyone and very professional individuals whose love for each other can still be seen today. But I see ViViz is having a comeback on July the 6th so I’ll definitely tune in for that! I hope to see GFriend on stage again and those that debuted around the same time as them to remain active for a long time. 3rd Generation is definitely unbeatable so to see them all leave one by one is quite disheartening.

Wow it's already been 6 years since 2ne1 disbandment... we could've gotten so much good music by them together if they were still active

Gfriend and CLC‘s disbandments was for me shocking because these two were my most Favorite groups. Mostly CLC because i saw the potential in this group but they were so mostly like underrated…..i only can wish these Idols good health etc i support Their future

Gfriend may have been disbanded, but they have become even more ever-present now with all members continuously putting out songs/dramas and activities all year round while being supported by effectively the same fan base. All we need now is for them to claw back the rights to the Gfriend name and discography.

I felt really sad about some disbandment bcz they kicked out forcefully but im also happy after leaving group they doing what they want to do but g friend disbandment was still shocking for me i hope company fully support their idols and protect them at all cost

For the Produce groups, except for X1, the rest are not shocking at all, since they are supposed to be 'temporary' groups (based on the length which were already decided before the survival shows). Sad, yes, shocking, not at all.

Nu’est didn’t disband willingly Aron Jr and Ren were basically kicked out and Minhyun and Baekho only stayed because they both had ongoing schedules Minhyun who had a drama which was released (Alchemy of Souls please check it out) and Baekho had his musical and other things lined up also he’s a producer and apparently pledis + hybe don’t have much of those so please don’t make it seem like the boys parted ways willingly it wasn’t even time for their contract renewal and they had many things planned for this year with fans

most of these disbandment's were sudden.. but the most important thing to know is that the members that separated from each of them are starting new careers.. and it's best to support their new paths. new groups are coming together, so let's look up to those aswell!!

X1 & GFRIEND & CLC WILL ALWAYS break my heart. X1 had so much potential & had it ripped away. GFRIEND was already a popular group then had to start over & CLC was treated like trash the entire time.

I remember I listen to gfriend thought they were talented broke up but the biggest one 2ne1 remember was looking for comeback did not know they both broke up new to Kpop watch them both RU-vid

There were some very talented groups there, sad to see them disband but the idol life can be very short only a few to will have longevity in their careers

Lovelyz disbanding in Nov 2021 and then CLC finally disbanding earlier this year was really sad, because with Lovelyz, they were big in Korea and had multiple hits while CLC’s fandom was split, but the fact that both could’ve been so much bigger with proper treatment only to end up disbanding is just heartbreaking

Gfriend disbandment really makes me sad. Up till now i still listen their songs and watch their performances and reaction of utuber watching their mv. Yes i know most or ALL girlgroups will not stand longer coz they will start their own life like family etc different like boygroup(eventhough they are married and have kids,they still be in group till olddays)

IOI, Wannaone, and IZ were not shocking. Their disbandments were planned from the beginning. The only one that was "shocking" was X1.

Not seeing the members of Gfriend together hurts so much. I can still remember the feelings when I heard about it. I was waiting for a comeback but apparently their contract was terminated.

4Minute was shocking to me. I could not believe how everything happened and also how it affected the girls friendship. PRISTINS was very annoying. CLC WAS SAD AS WELL ALONG WITH LUNARSOLAR & Hot Issue.

Any comments about I.O.I? 😭😭I felt really sad for this group’s disbandment. They were doing so good but since they all had different agencies they had this destiny to disband despite not having any major issues. Same goes to Wanna One. They had a great synergy but with the same reason like I.O.I since they had different agencies they got disbandment :( Also 2NE1 was a big news for me too. 😤😤They were like part of my school life. I remember listening to their songs going to school and going back home. (Back when there were no wireless earphones like Airpods hahhahahah) Oh yeah i feel sad for hyuna since she had to encounter 2 times of disbandment.

Old groups disbanding are complicated and kinda expected, project groups from survival shows ain't surprising to disband, Gfriend's disbandment came out of nowhere, like they just got cut there and forced to move on. Got7 could've put up with it to stay longer but i think the management of their group is not even close to the bare minimum, jype gave up on them, they weren't able to see any growth in sk, well they could if jype didn't stop sending them on shows.

Since we’re talking about IZ*ONE their TikTok account was hacked and all their old videos privated, very sad for fans who want to look back and remember the girls

GFRIEND disbandment is the most shocked thing for me... and the saddest part is not just the members didn't know they will disband on that day... but the staffs didnt know too bout the disbandment... they knew after reading the news... and not just GFRIEND members that forced to leave the agency but almost 30 staffs leave the agency

2NE1 disbands and yet in 2022 it was not until the scene but I was happy that 2NE1 reunite in Coachella, memories love you 2NE1!!

I remember GFRIEND and CLC's disbandments like it was yesterday. Still feels fake tbh.

The biggest surprise to me was definitely GFriend's disbandment. I got in to them pretty late as I hard stanned other 3rd gen girl groups back in around 2016. But when I got into them, I got in hard. And knowing how big they were in Korea really surprised me considering how Sowon revealed that the whole termination process was one-sided. What was the hardest for me to take, however, was CLC's disbandment. After 2 years of being inactive wasn't a surprise, but considering how successful Hobgoblin, No and Helicopter was, I just couldn't accept how Cube still decided to leave them in the dark and basically gave up on them. CLC was one of my hard stans and just them leaving one by one broke my heart.

But for me since i jst into kpop back in like march last year ( even tho im literally a multi stan these girl groups and boy groups are TOOOO GOODDD😩) I haven’t really experienced groups i like disbanding but for me it had to be Pristin because They literally DESERVED BETTER FRL

Gfriend still shocking, usually group disband after big scandal, member leave, too long hiatus. Gfriend is newly acquired by bighit 2 years before disband. Most shocking thing fandom they disband when their fans expect summer comeback, after agency tell disband announcement 4 days later they are disband without speaking in public.

I was very sad about XUM disbandment cuz they are from a really small company and there was no real expanation. They also just dissapeared since. I can't find anything about them anymore. Iaan changed her Instagram username so we don't know it as well. The momet A100 changed their company name, I knew there was something sketchy about them.

4Minute and 2NE1 were the first two groups I got into back in 2012 and 2013 perspectively. 2NE1's final song made me bawl my eyes out 😭😭😭. Both disbandments still hurt until this day 🥺🥺🥺🥺

A disbandment that hurted my heart was Hot Issue, they debut last year and they disbanded a few days before their one year anniversary
