Mother 3 Unused Cutscene - Meeting Locria [Semi-Restored]

An unused, broken map in the files called "Empty 339" still has script data linked to it. By placing an NPC in the map and linking Script 5 to it, this cutscene plays out, which seems to have been from an earlier revision of the story where Locria was their own character instead of Fassad who was implied to have been the seventh Magypsy. It's also worth noting that they claim to be the Magypsy of New Pork Island, instead of New Pork City. This is either a beta name for New Pork City, or an entirely different area where New Pork City happens to be located.

I'm more surprised by Duster's reaction about Locria's aloofness. He seemed pretty angry about Locria saying they don't care what happened to the world, when Duster never showed any signs of being worried or angry about the Dragon waking up before. So maybe in the beta Duster was having doubts about waking up the Dragon and worried about what would happen to the world. Too bad we don't really get to see it in the actual game, because that would be an interesting moral dilemma between the characters.

Because chapter 7 is very open in terms of how you want to pull the needles, they most likely decided not to have much character dialogue - since it would have been much harder to program the dialogue depending on whether you recruited a party member or not. While I appreciate how open the game becomes in chapter 7, I do wish that we still got to see more of this unseen narrative.

@@catdatwat9743theres another cutscene in the files that actually expands a lot more on how lucas, duster, flint, and kumatora feel about pulling (i believe) the final needle. Its very faithful to their personalities in the final game and a shame it never got used

Weird that Fassad was a character since EB64, but apparently wasn't decided to be the final magypsie until after it made the switch to the GBA.

Yeah I’ve wondered if maybe it was due to time constraints or maybe a lack of space on the cartridge. Locria does have a spot for sprites in the files, but they were overwritten by sprites of Boney being in the hot spring wearing the shirt and hat instead, so we don’t know what she actually looked like.

@@Skyetendo_I really believe that her sprites were overwritten at the same time Flint's role was reduced, since those sprites of Boney wouldn't exist if Flint's role wasn't reduced

@@metallicwarriorFor what reason would those sprites not exist if Flint wasn’t more involved in the story? I’m not sure if hot spring sprites made for a section of Chapter 4 would affect that. Not berating you or anything, just curious.

@@Skyetendo_I think so because Flint was going to be the one with you in (possibly) the entirity of Chapter 4, meaning that Boney wasn't with Lucas and by that not needing to design sprites for Boney's "Hat" suit. Of course this is just a really wide speculation i made on top of the sprite bank thingy. This only holds up if Boney originally wasn't with you in Chapter 4 even with Flint (sorry if i sound really redundant)

Actually Locria departed from the Magypsies long before Porky arrived I believe. I could be wrong though.

@@Skyetendo_yes!! a lot of the magypsies implied that he was always very secretive. they mightve even been creeped out by him given what his pet mouse says

I think the magypsies in general were last minute. ionia was a fortune teller in the n64. its possible that fassad was intended to have a connection with that version of ionia and it simply got expanded over thebtransition to gba. fassad also plays a big role in porkys plan so its likely there was some explanation in early development as to why he knew as much as he did

So interesting 😮 M3’s unused content is beautiful & fascinating. Makes me wish fans made a mod or remake actualising those concepts. But with that idea, since the ending was gonna b more tense, longer, but undecided … I think it’d b good 2 have multiple endings. Perhaps based on the kindness stat?

Seems like it could have either been a beta name for New Pork City, or where New Pork City was located. Not sure.

@@Skyetendo_ Some early concept art shows a run down, resort looking place with signs named "Polky." Which is really close to Porky, maybe New Pork City was supposed to have a tropical motif? Or maybe it would have been a subsection in New Pork City, we'll probably never know for sure. lol
