Mother and Daughter Serial Killers - Winters and Frost
News of the Times Episode 385 | 1889
It is 1889 Deptford London and Mr Winters has discovered a slew of insurance policies in the house with one of them with his name on it. He also finds insurance policies related to now deceased family members, including his own sister.
The insurance payouts are set to go to his wife and his daughter.
What unfolds is a plan to kill over 20 people for insurance financial gain. Five have already died, with one attempted murder, but the girl recovered. No one in the family was safe.
We take a look at the mother and daughter serial killer team - Winters and Frost - in today’s episode from 1889 London.

Yes - just bizarre this, isn't it? It was a bit at the tail end of the "burial society" spate of killings. Insurance companies had been tightening up their regualtions, but not nearly enough as this case shows. We have wondered if amelia did not purposefully remove herself so she would not have to face trial. As you could hear, the public response was unforgiving. 🧐

As always I very much enjoyed your video. I think that the jury was right in the statement that anyone could have insurance on anyone played a role in this case and others. I remember reading a book that put forth the case that Maybach was Jack the ripper. This was a very sad case with the death of children. Mr. Frost breaking down the way he did is very understandable. R.C. and team thank you all for your hard work putting out these videos. I so look forward to watching them. Take care 🙏

Maybrick - we know the book and it was based on a hoax. If you take a look at the Maybrick case, you will see. 😉 We included the link in the description and at the end of the episode. Insuracne scams, like arsenic, was everwhere, although by this time the insurance scams were beginning to be tightened up. We found it so very bizarre a mother and daughter team! That is really unusual. 🧐

I have just watched that video and as always I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for clearing up about the book it was meny years ago now that I read it. As I remember it had a lot to do with a diary that was supposed to have been found. I am looking forward to the completion video. The weather is very poor here in Florida USA not good for being out and about in. Wishing you all the best.

@@brianbailey5626 Sorry to hear of your weather! here in the Uk, we always picture Florida as blue skies and beautiful beaches! Here, we have several roads closed due to flooding! It feels like non-stop rain - pretty much all summer! ⛈ We ahev had the odd sunny day, but the exception rather than the rule *sigh*. Glad you enjoyed the maybrick episode - we thought that was quite good. We are excited about the compilations video - we think it is one of our better ones - fingers crossed!🤞

Your summer sounds like our late spring, summer and early fall evey year only more so this year. I moved to Florida 18 years ago from north east New York state ( the Adirondack mountains) only for better jobs and lower costs of living $$$$$$$$. Florida is a good place to visit if you pick the right time and come with a ton of money. I have to say that I don't know how you are able to rate your videos on both channels. I have yet to come across one that wasn't extremely good. Some are a little bit more hard to watch do to the crimes but because of your way of doing them and the old way of talking I have to say that you have never put out a bad one. Take care and we can both hope for at least a pleasant fall

@@nadiabrook7871 Ummm, we couldn't resist! Quirky english humour....But we are quite sure there were more than five. their plan was for between 22 and 27 individuals! (newspaper articles differ as to the number - could be they are taking the 5 known and adding to the 22 other policies) . hard to imagine finding an insurance policy with your name on it with other insurance policies of your dead relatives.... super creepy!🫢

This was an intriguing and yet horrific case of mother and daughter serial murderers who killed for financial gains, period! I wish the mother had been able to stand trial, I would have loved to seen how it would have eventually ended. Do you know whatever Mrs. Winters died of? Great investigation, presentation, backstory, illustrations, photos and videos, as well. Take care 🦋

Yes, Mrs Winters death certificate put her death down to a wastng illness. So, it is like she willed it herself. The moment she was caught, she willed herself to avoid court and all the associated legal ramifications. The cas eis unsatisfying in that she escapes the court and trila. And, we are quite sure, there were more deaths associated to her than was discovered. So very rare to have a mother and death team!🧐
