We must have similar lives! It took my MIL a little time to completely understand that her son was my life and i love him unconditionally, but she now loves me like a daughter and has me listed as her emergency contact and knows i will take care of her the best i can. I wouldnt have it any other way. I had a baby 6 months before we got together and she was worried about me getting back with his father, but we have been married 21 years now and have 8 kids. That includes the one i had first. He calls my husband dad and she is his grandma since he was only 6 months old when we met and we wouldnt have it any other way. His dad was always involved too amd have always said his is extra lucky that he has two of everything. He is 21 now and both sides are his parents and grandparents. That definitely doesnt happen all the time and thats okay but happy to hear someone else had a similar experience and is happy with it!

I had a great relationship with MIL for 20 years. My husband died suddenly a month short of our 20 yr anniversary. We'd console each other. I think that she found out it was easier to be mad at me than mourn her son. I came to realize this and let it go. My FIL passed away and I think that finally gave her some insight. She remarried so I think maybe she can't still be upset I went on a date 2 yrs after hubby died because she pushed me to get out more. Weird. Ik. But emotions running very high with everyone. Anyway, glad you had great MIL relationships. It is so much easier that way in life and in marriage. Love your husbands. I'd give a LOT just have any amount of time again. That's hard to realize when you're in it with raising kids, messy house, money and all the other regular relationship things that are 10x intensified in marriage. Life passes too quickly
