The reason she didn't ask her wife to carry the baby is they had agreed to take some time off from trying... Then she sneaks around behind her back with her mom and tried to AI. These people are crazy.

I don't think a husband would be happy either with his wife sneaking behind his back trying to get pregnant alone, having her own mom inseminating her (when she has a partner who obviously would prefer to be able to be a part of that), considering the possibility of mom carrying their child (even a man can carry a child nowadays. If it was with a man, whether he would want to do that or not, they should let him know- Even before telling the doctor or her mom. He should be the first one to know. His wife should take that decision with him, not her mom. Only after they discussed it as a couple, she would carry on with it. That's a couple's decision ), jeez... That's just crazy! To make it worse, they didn't even tell her, she found out at the doc's appointment. That's so hurtful... They had decided to try to have kids together but agreed to take a break and try again together later. I mean, imagine being left out of the "making" of your own baby? That's ridiculous! Anyone would be mad. It has nothing to do with gender. That doesn't justify her actions Hope Laura finds a better wife. Her "wife" doesn't even treat her like a wife or like the other parent of the child they're trynna make. Imagine trying to name the baby. It will be the mom and the daughter again doing that.
