I don't know who needs to hear this but, as someone who spent her entire childhood caught between the two sides of my family who each tried to psychologically poison me against the other side and with grandparents who never wanted to let my parents live their own lives, I have to say: if you are grown and still under the thumb of your parents, PLEASE don't have children until you get out from under it. If nothing changes, you're just letting all the mess and pain trickle down into the next generation and sadly giving your autocratic parents yet another human being to control and manipulate. I feel so sorry for him. He does need to improve his skills as a dad, but that grandma doesn’t give a chance. And she is using all her energy to find peoples bad side and trying to make everyone mentally ill.

Grandparents don't get parental rights. He's the father she's the grandmother. I wish he would grow some balls and stand up to sunhe more often. She needs to realize that if he were granted sole custody God forbid if something happened to sunhes daughter, he could easily block her access to the child and she would have zero rights. Mum is attached to her daughter in a symbiotic relationship. She's not allowing her daughter to be independent because of her own unresolved insecurity. Suspect her childhood can explain why she feels the mother -child bond is safest and easiest to control. So she's made them a "package deal". It's not condusive to Angelica being independent... and now it's extending to the grandbaby. Marriage cannot thrive in such circumstances.

This is a very complicated mess and revolves around the grandmothers unresolved narcissist tendencies and control. The show focuses on close relationships but a narcissist can’t fully care for anyone but themselves. She uses Angelica as a security blanket. The grandmothers behaviour is rooted in self loathing, as she contaminated every person, event and opportunity with pessimism, being rude and obnoxious. She enjoys using Jason as a punching bag. Shame on her! It is also very selfish of her to contaminate the grandchild’s mind. Angelica needs to grow a spine and the fact that she allows her mother to speak to the father of her child in such horrible ways is unacceptable. Jason has been beaten down by this abuse from the two ladies (more like irate jerks) and no wonder he had troubles thriving, who can in such an environment? He is lucky to have dodged the bullet with Angelica, her mom and all of their combined abuse and bullying.
