It’s normal to either pay your ex-wife monies or pay for some of her living expenses. Normal divorce proceedings or separation proceedings. Nothing weird about any of that. What’s weird is they chose to go in and watch her sign the divorce papers in a private situation. That’s effed up.

You can tell the daughter is biracial, she obviously went through some trauma (the mother). I’m guessing she got knocked up and thrown out by her Asian parents, so now she’s projecting her fears onto her daughter. It happens more often than you’d think. Especially as her mother is from an older generation too when back in the day it was even more frowned upon.

It isn't an excuse when he is doing things he shouldn't. She has good reason to feel as she does but I think her daughter is a grown woman and will make decisions she may not like or agree with anyway regardless of how she feels and regardless if it is the right one.

But the mother needs to rationalise with herself and realise how her personal trauma is effecting her daughter. She shouldn’t be acting the way she is, but, someone also needs to tell the mother they are sorry for doing what they did to her (her parents), and sorry the disapproval led to the granddaughter not living life to the fullest.

Finally someone that likes Jason! I feel like the mother is making any excuse to keep Angelica with her, to the point that she tries to manipulate her decisions. Jason seems to really care about Angelica and started doing everything once her mom told him to. I'm only finishing up season one but was sad to see a lot of people against him!
