Those eyes. It's like you could feel how they are feeling. Absolutely beautiful creatures.

As a fellow mother who has lost her child before their life even began, I grieve with you. I’m so sorry my species has destroyed your home, I’m so sorry for the part I’ve played in you losing your calf. I will try everyday to do better.

I am so sorry for your loss mama whale, humans are destroying your beautiful world too.

The first time I watched this full episode, it really disturbed me deeply to my core. I sat there watching this mother animal unable to let go of her infant, as I looked over at my own 96 hour old infant, and with tears pouring down my face couldn't even begin to fathom her grief, her pain, her anguish, her defeat, her loss... What I COULD grasp was her connection, her need, her protective instinct, her commitment to her baby. Some people(dumbass ignorant imbeciles) say that animals can't/don't have feelings *-scoffs-* but life experience and what I LIKE to think is the rather impressive level of intellect I possess, I know as sure as the sun will rise that animals ABSOLUTELY CAN & DO feel, connect, empathize, sense, and process emotions, some probably on a more profound depth than the aforementioned people... As my children become adults and bring their own children into the world, I desperately hope that by then, a major global shift will have taken place and moved towards a more efficient and successful and respectful use of our natural world and the beings within it... For my children and their children and so on, for them to maybe never see a wild polar bear or tiger or any other threatened species because us humans have destroyed all of the wonder this Earth offers with our greed, ignorance and disregard, well... that just breaks my heart so badly... *Cue Michael Jackson's "Heal the World"* Bob Marley said: "when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will finally know peace"... So there's that.

Heartbreaking to see the pilot whale like this but it's a necessary story to tell. This is one of the most exported tv programmes in the world... the more people it reaches... the better.

When will they understand, this is the ONLY planet we have.

So sad. Every human should have to watch this. We are all responsible and we can all make a difference

You can see the intelligence in her eyes, I hope we don't have to see more of this before people begin to try and help. Our actions are going to bite us is in the ass someday, and by then it may be too late. Thank you to the people who are trying to help

Incredibly sad....this & other dolphin mother with her DYING baby dolphin footage I just watched....made me cry like a baby! I want all people to watch these! Especially the ones still believe that animals DON'T have feelings& souls! Or even good brains...! This is 21st century!!! I THANK YOU BBC for making this documentary...& posting it!

WE SUCK SO MUCH OMG This is our home, we share it with so many creatures, and yet we treat it as if it were disposable it's not and my heart aches that those that suffer the consequences of our actions are the ones that treat the earth with respect

There are so many pieces of evidence of humans being selfish or greedy or hateful, to the point where there are far too many of these moments that we will never truly know how many there ever has been so far this year.

I can't get over this, I keep rewatching it (and the music doesnt help its so good but so heart wrenching)

Excellent. It took me days to get the courage up to watch this and while this clip of film did a great job of showing the feelings of grief the whales have, I love how the focus drifting directly at the most likely cause of the problem: US and our disregard for these magnificent creatures’ home down to a microscopic home for others. We know too little about the sea to act like it. Please stop scenes like this and the next time you feel like casually throwing your cigarette butt into the water when you are done smoking, think of this baby calf and the family of whales that were effected. We need to make a change or we will kill off these beautiful animals who may be the cure to cancer for all we know. Please care as if your life depended on it, because it may.

The mother is one in all creatures ... She has a heart .. Maybe she is crying but We do not see her tears becaue she is swimming in the water .

God grief, is this what we are doing? If our actions only affected us then fair enough, but this is just unfair. Disposable plastic needs to be reduced or taxed at a rate that would make it valuable and not disposable.

I often grieve over, what I imagine were some of the most beautiful and stately white pine trees that once graced Michigan. I wonder if only someone might have had the foresight to leave us a sizable track, what a wonderful and awe inspiring place might be, perhaps even catching the magical awe of a Redwood Forest itself, but all that is left of the magnificent old growth forest are but a few sad acres. How we fail to learn from our past.
