Our Newest Lecture Series:
The Original Church: Lectures on the Acts of the Apostles by Father Josiah Trenham.
The Acts was written by the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke, as the 2nd part of his great literary masterpiece setting forth the Life of Jesus Christ in his Gospel, and then in the Acts showing forth the new Christian life made possible by the Lord’s great and saving deeds and the descent of the Holy Spirit. Here in these sacred pages we discover what St. Paul calls “new creation in Christ.”
Here we discover what is the birth-right of Christians - that is the continuous miracle of church life. Lecture titles are as follows:
Lecture #1 The Meaning of the Acts
Lecture #2 Pentecost
Lecture #3 Spiritual Life
Lecture #4 Fellowship
Lecture #5 Martyrdom
Lecture #6 Conversion
Lecture #7 Defending the Faith: The Jerusalem Council
Lecture #8 The Missionary Journeys of St. Paul

It sounds that you'll find her pretty easily. The main reason of postponing motherhood is lack of financial stability (or even poverty), and first hand experience of such situation during childhood. So when meeting with a man who is willing and able to solve those problems, deal with them and provide a proper environment for growth on all planes, then the internal "maternity switch" will light on.

One of the deepest spiritual fights I have is trying to stay humble and not losing hope in the process of wanting to become a mother for many years now, despite not having any health issues. It is hard to stand by and watch many people around just having 3-4 kids in the same amount of time your are trying to have one at least, or people having children they do not want or raise neglectingly or even abandon and not to defy God's will, not asking "Why must it be so hard of a battle for me"?, "What are you trying to tell me God"? hoping that he is leading you through the valley of despair. Praying for all the couples going through these struggles. Amen.

I was never around younger children much growing up. Didn’t have any first cousins. I didn’t want kids at all. Was working suddenly in my 20’s in a situation where I had to work around kids. One boy got hurt on the playground and came up and hugged me. It was an instant in that moment that I developed “baby fever”. We think it’s our choice but I found that for me I just hadn’t ever had a meaningful connection with any youngsters. So happy I had that experience or I might’ve been like these childfree folks.

Dear Father I'm mother of 6 little ones, the father left us. I don't have any other family so I'm absolutely on my own. Asking for help is very difficult, people get mad, and when I get courage to do that everywhere I go including my own parish they telling me get food stamps ( I already have it), go to homeless shelter and all other "great advises" that don't much reality. I'm terrified every day of falling into government hands in homeless shelters when my parental rights will be tied and my children's faith and well being will be killed. The amount of stress I'm going now it's incredible as an effect of trusting God with bringing lifes to the world. Im not saying God won't reward it in heaven but living on this world is like living hell. If women continue being treated as playmates from men and men do not understand the spiritual responsibility they have to women and humanity at large (by coming to Christ and accepting him in their hearts) , women will continue to focus on their careers and their spiritual well being as single women, as they should, and probably be blessed by God to do so. Many women saints from the early church chose death/torture over marriage with unrepentant men and by default not having a family/children and by this they were sanctified and saved. Family and children are a blessing only at the appointed time and when they come from God. A ''blessing' when we demand it and have it our own way, can easily turn into a curse (and this is perfectly illustrated in many marriages these days). Also someone can want to have children as objects to acquire as well and not out of love. Not everyone is made out for family life and that is ok. I sense that all these people that reject family life are probably much more in touch with the sinfulness of this world and are actually closer to the truth than others. Christian communities are quire small and scattered and it is much harder for christian people to find their mate and some will have to wait longer and therefore sacrifice their fertility in the process. Motherhood/parenthood should NOT be promoted to everyone and it should be under the guidance of a spiritual father/lots of prayer that matters such as these are dealt with. I believe it was the Apostole Paul who said that during the end/sinful times, marriage might not be as spiritually beneficial to christians. Many women chosen by God were also barren and only had children at older age (as willed by God). The purpose of their marriage was not to bear children but loving communion with their husbands who were also faithful and christian (and therefore most likely had repented of fornication or was in the process to). Many many so called christians today are not actually chrisitans and many many men still to this day use christianity as another means to subjugate women and therefore continue on the ancestral curse of Eve onto women. A christian woman is a redeemed, free woman who can find love and happiness in Christ alone just as many nuns and martyrs of the past did so. As christians we are called to hope for the world to come and hate this world. God's love can still be accessible to those who dont bear children.
@user-qk4ht6yq4u

Are you blaming men for christian women being degenerate? Shame on you! Christian women in the west should be reproducing but they love their passions more than they love Christ. They screw up at university and then come back to the Church when the clock starts to tick expecting men to except them for who they are. I don't wont to marry a female who is at a very high chance of divorce because the Church and her Dad did not instill morality in her youth.

Everyone should blame themselves for their own failings. That's what the Saints say. I'm so sorry to hear this, brother. You don't deserve to be humiliated and rejected by your own mother. Does she know how rejected and estranged you feel by her coldness? Maybe ignore it and attempt to talk to her and see how the first conversation goes. If you feel comfortable confessing the hurt she made you feel to her then do so. Depending on how she reacts you'll know whether or not any part of her still loves you. Don't be quick to discard your mother but still, work on yourself and be as independent of her as possible since you clearly cannot rely on her. You are also apparently not as cold as she is based on your story. If you have a wife encourage her to be a better mother than your own (you don't have to say this explicitly to her). Give to your children what they couldn't have had (if you see yourself having any). I wish I could help you more but I'm forced to give the answer that's always true for these things: find strength in yourself through Jesus. God bless, man.

The title of the video perfectly sums up the misconception that has been indoctrinated in most people today. I am from gen z, and it’s incredibly sad to see how this devil’s work has brainwashed the overwhelming majority of the youth, I can definitely tell you that talking of starting a family is almost like a taboo among my peers. I have been longing all my life for a committed relationship, but there’s hardly any woman giving love back, at least in the west. I think all hope is gone for this part of the world, and if there’s any good woman left here, they’re probably muted and ostracized by the feminist cancer that has jeopardized most brains, making them unreachable for men. I pray God, after improving my relationship with Him first, sends me a biblical, beautiful wife to fulfill my days with. I plan to have at least 3 kids, probably even 4. we have inverted the order- family is now number one, monasticism number two. no wonder we are facing these issues. without people who live in virginity family is doomed. fr daniel sysoev explains this very well. nothing is shocking about this when we the orthodox have started to consider monasticism a calling not for most of us. that is the real issue. without monastics family and the world die. as long as we keep pushing family and not monasticism as fundamental our families will die. Christ and His Holy mother were monastics too as the Holy Fathers teach. The apostle Paul wanted very much for this format to be overcome-not so that people would fall into fornication, but so that marriage, while remaining as an institution, might give all who desire it the opportunity to rise to a higher level. It is a great sadness to me that young people do not even consider the option of monasticism. This is actually a sign of weakness of faith-a sign of considerable close mindedness and considerable hedonism. The reason is that people have grown fat and lazy, and have decided to make themselves at home here on earth.

YES, children are a gift from God. And not every parent is a gift to the child. This is not insanity, this is insight. To claim that women who do not want children do so because they don't love God is wrong, hurting and disrespectful.

Father Josiah , I am struggling to understand the Orthodox view of Marriage, Children and Celibacy - It's been affirmed by Orthodox Christians that marriage (union between Man and Women) is intrinsically good. Likewise, it has been affirmed that bearing children is intrinsically good. However, it has also been affirmed that Celibacy is neither intrinsically good nor bad - 'but becomes so from the disposition of those who practice it’. My question is the following: How can Marriage/Children be considered GOOD, yet inferior or less noteworthy to that which is neither good nor bad (Celibacy)? This is not done to lack of belief in god, The World is religious of some kind, whether its Christianity or Islam. The lack of accountability is what changed. Religion won't take accountability for anything but only good because it is perfect, which is the false doctrines. Atheism is rising but it is not the dominant. Majority of those that commits crimes are religious is some type of ways. Religion keep blaming the atheism or the lack of god, etc. this is untrue. Every1 knows what goes in the catholic church, the church protects the priests, not the victims and expects not to have those that want to do harm become pastors, priests, when it indicates, that the church is their haven of safety, to harm the people, most victims comes from some sort of religion. The issue is accountability and reconciliation but you'll reconcile without accountability, and the church will always fall.

This all stems from the curses placed on humanity back in Genesis 3. Men are abandoning their roles of provider, protector, and lover of their wives, meanwhile women have been deceived and quite frankly neglected to such a degree that women refuse to play the role God has given them. When men neglect their wives in any kind of capacity, it leaves the woman defenseless and easy to deceive in that area. Where was Adam when Eve was being deceived by Satan? Dunno but he sure wasnt there to protect her when he needed to be. He then felt he had the right to blame Eve and God because of his failures as a man. Eve took no responsibility for her own sin and blamed it on someone else, and usurped her role as support. That is exactly whats happening now en masse between men and women in the west, with a mix of Romans 1 judgment.
