Here is an example of DK2+ running in our latest software release version 2.1.147.1 released May 24, 2023. BeamNG as a platform continues to impress us and has become our go to test software and choice for other custom OEM like projects.

The DK2+ system uses larger motors and actuators and is able to support more weight than the regular DK2. The larger motors offer a more powerful and toque-y feel than the regular DK2, and provide more attitude in the motion experience. The DK2+ is recommended for all sim center or similar commercial applications.
The DK2+ motion system is a professional motion system for serious sim-racing enthusiasts, drivers and researchers. The system shares the same design and construction as our industrial-grade motion systems used in our full motion vehicle simulators. Additionally, DK2+ is mechanically and electrically engineered around our unique motion algorithm to provide the most realistic and representative vehicle motion feedback.
DK2+ takes a modern approach to our signal processing and motion control to create the most responsive system on the market. Every elevation change, vehicle movement, surface change and gear shift, is captured and reproduced within 2” (50mm) of the available mechanical stroke.

Great demo! I found one weird thing though - at 29:00 you rolled the car over. I noticed that when the wheels were not engaged with the surface the actuators stopped to respond on the car movements (the body was shook enough. Seems to be a BeamNG implementation system concentrated on the wheels and suspension.

Thanks and a great observation. BeamNG really tests the limits of any motion and haptic system and hence why we presented it here as a demo. That being said, its also a great test of our algorithms or the software that calculates things in real-time (very very fast) to make the best interpretation of the software. These algorithms, like all systems, have trade-offs or limitations. Rolling a very softly sprung vehicle on very steep inclined slope is one of those trade offs. 🙃 So when the vehicle is doing something not typical, like rolling, it introduces a problem of passing the roll center point. Even in flight, a barrel roll is not as simple as it first appears, more accurately it should be called a helical roll. There is A LOT happening there. Similarly here, there is a lot of representation of various motion layers all competing for the stroke, and all of the sudden one motion layer, which is defined by degrees of roll goes waaay past its limit, lol, and then reappears on the other side. (full circle)... its very interesting stuff once you dig into it! But "small" displacement motion systems like the DK2+ here with its Dynamic Scaling are just doing the best they can with the 2" of travel they have. Our DK6 with 6" of travel would better represent this particular roll scenario as more of the layers have discreet control of a portion of the stroke. Problem solved right? Well kind of, now see your rig is moving more away from the screen causing a visual disconnect, potentially nausea. So you can't cheat there either! Engineering is just about finding the best compromises for specific applications. 😉 So again thanks for the catch.

You can actually learn some advance handling dynamics by having fun. Lots of cool missions in many of the maps and hitting F11 allows you to adjust the environment in real time. Lots of other goodies in the title.

Highly recommend it. There are several fun scenarios too, so its a nice break from the everyday. Rock crawling is brutal though! Watch out for bruised kidneys. 😛

Being able to see how quick and smooth the pistons react and how the driver is jostled around really intrigues me. I've mostly written off motion until now. Thanks.

It's a science and we treat it as such. There will always be limitations but knowing what to put forward and what gimmicks to ignore is key. We call this Motion Integrity with no canned effects.
