Hey Peter.. I just loaded BeamNG, and I am still on the older DK firmware (but it does list BeamNG, and it is auto-detecting it), but no motion. I am using the default port 4444 and loopback IP address. I also tried to change the IP in BeamNG to the IP assigned to the motion controller NIC, no change. I am sure it is something simple I am missing. I followed the notes in the controller SW. I know this is an old video, I will shoot you an email if you don't see this. Thanks!
19 дней назад
yea please shoot us an e-mail info@sigmai.co . Should be a simple resolve. ;-)
19 дней назад
The BeamNG IP assigned as the controller will not work unfortunately. The controller IP is fixed at 192.168.153.2 your computer should be fixed at 192.168.153.1 (network card connected to the DK Controller). The computer loopback address should be 127.0.0.1 in the game, as in BeamNG here. Most likely the cause is ports mismatch or unavailability. Can you please make sure that the 4444 port you are using for motion and 4445 for the gauges (engine vibrations). Also ensure that the motion is set to 100hz in BeamNG. We are able to do 300hz, but needs more tunning and right now has some unfavorable noise.

Fantastic job as always! Still loving my DK2 Plus!

Thank-you! This is where the DK was born, with such crazy projects. Believe it or not, your DK2+ is better suited for this application than the actuators in this video. The pistons are larger, stronger and better suited for side loading. :-)

Took us 4-5 months to execute. Having the projectors so close on the windows seemed like a good idea, but it only works for the driver. Passengers feel like they are always drifting, this is because the vanishing point is more pronounced the closer the screen is to the driver. Luckily ATS and ETS allows for the position of the vanishing point. ;-)

Well, with 9.000$ quite expensive for 3DOF and a travel of just 150mm @ 20cm/s. Being a flight sim guy however I have no idea about racing sims' needs.
2 месяца назад
Thanks for your input. No doubt that $9000 USD is a lot of money. What other turn key systems are you comparing it to? The DK product line is engineered to be simple to install, easy to run and requires no ongoing maintenance. We also provide some of the best support in the industry. ;-) Our systems is also the only turn key system that is fully CNC'ed from billet, uses unique and powerful (yet efficient) @TeknicInc American motors, customer controller and our own unique in house software and algorithms. Just need to compare apples to apples. ;-) What flight sim do you mainly play?
@void1968able
@void1968able 2 месяца назад
Ok, turnkey and support is an argument. Still for me who likes to build from kits DYI is no hindrance. I fly mainly DCS and a bit MSFS so larger strokes with fast speeds are a good cushion when it comes to more extreme manoeuvers.

Sigma or Σ means summation, or in our case the importance of all the parts properly integrated, "integrale". 🙃 Yea, we are engineers and not marketing people. Obviously.

I like the fact that it's using a fake vehicle in beamng instead of them modding in the razer. Which would be awesome if they did.
2 месяца назад
The model from @beamng is awesome and works so well. Very well setup. To make a @Polaris model would be too costly and mostly unnecessary in the NOSE camera view that we typically use. This 3rd person view is more for our testing during setup. ;-)

Definitely. We have ruggedized the RC cars with custom carbon fiber bumpers and chassis, BUT after 3000-4000 rides per show, the cars do get used up quite a bit and need some work. Often steering linkages, wheels, motors, mounts, etc... all need to be redone at the end of each show. It's awesome fun and Volkswagen definitely knows how to have fun. Should be available at your next major auto show, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York or Detroit.

Update: we had a bad motor in this update. This became more apparent when we cranked up the settings even more. Motor has been replaced and the total RMS (weight capacity) of the system is about 30%, meaning we have 70% overhead before the motors start to struggle....

Great demo! I found one weird thing though - at 29:00 you rolled the car over. I noticed that when the wheels were not engaged with the surface the actuators stopped to respond on the car movements (the body was shook enough. Seems to be a BeamNG implementation system concentrated on the wheels and suspension.
4 месяца назад
Thanks and a great observation. BeamNG really tests the limits of any motion and haptic system and hence why we presented it here as a demo. That being said, its also a great test of our algorithms or the software that calculates things in real-time (very very fast) to make the best interpretation of the software. These algorithms, like all systems, have trade-offs or limitations. Rolling a very softly sprung vehicle on very steep inclined slope is one of those trade offs. 🙃 So when the vehicle is doing something not typical, like rolling, it introduces a problem of passing the roll center point. Even in flight, a barrel roll is not as simple as it first appears, more accurately it should be called a helical roll. There is A LOT happening there. Similarly here, there is a lot of representation of various motion layers all competing for the stroke, and all of the sudden one motion layer, which is defined by degrees of roll goes waaay past its limit, lol, and then reappears on the other side. (full circle)... its very interesting stuff once you dig into it! But "small" displacement motion systems like the DK2+ here with its Dynamic Scaling are just doing the best they can with the 2" of travel they have. Our DK6 with 6" of travel would better represent this particular roll scenario as more of the layers have discreet control of a portion of the stroke. Problem solved right? Well kind of, now see your rig is moving more away from the screen causing a visual disconnect, potentially nausea. So you can't cheat there either! Engineering is just about finding the best compromises for specific applications. 😉 So again thanks for the catch.

That screen seems super low compared to the drivers eye height?
4 месяца назад
Correct. This was a very quick mount and test shakedown. The mounts here are also not the way the DK-X should be connected to any frame or structural member. Typically we recommend that the drivers eyes are perpendicular and in the center of the screen. Distance from the monitor should be about the size of the monitor/panel. So if the monitor is 48" the drivers eyes should be about 48" away from the monitor. You can push that our more for those who get motion sick, and bring it in more for those that have no issues. Thanks for the note.

Hi Amir, the integration of GT7 on the PS5 will take later this year, probably in a few months. It will still require a PC to run our software and some of the motion layers. Any more questions do email us at info@sigmai.co. Thanks.

Thanks! This is something we built in house using aluminum extrusion from McMaster.com (www.mcmaster.com/products/aluminum-extrusions/t-slotted-framing-rails-4/). We like the McMaster extrusion since its very thick and has relatively no flex. We also used 12 x (4x4) corner brackets which makes this chassis VERY rigid, which is necessary for transferring haptics effectively. This is similar to our mounting solution (www.sigmaintegrale.com/products/t-slot-mounting-bracket) which is a CNC bracket, just like the housing and mounts the actuators flush to the side extrusion. This provides the best connection, with no flex or yield over time. You might also want to check out Allin1Gaming.com which uses vention.io extrusion which is very unique. It uses interlocking LEGO like connections to maintain position of the corner brackets and other extrusion. Giving very little yield over time. ;-) Additionally we now use electric seat rails on our chassis, which have a lot less slop or movement than traditional manual racks. Again all for he sake of feeling the most amount of haptics or vibrations as possible. Also why we use a Tillet seat as well, which uses minimal padding and has the seat and not just the cushions, contort to your body, which again gives a much better feel to the motion and the pure haptics that our system provides. Hope that helps. E-mail us at info@sigmai.co or call us if you have any more information.
