Tripp RE-AX Understand his age is a factor he was born in 1951 which meant he was 30 when they started the band. More than his age is the how he’s been able to play for this many years while battling the painful and debilitating disease Ankylosing spondylitis. He was diagnosed when he was 17 he was in pain all the time, this was explained best in their 2004 interviews. Seeing how Mars was struggling and needed a hip replacement and the agony he went through and did overcome just to play again 16 years ago, and he’s still able to move now. Inspired more by his battles than his age of 68. Many artists are over 70 but they haven’t dealt with their bones fusing for 50 years.

@@southerncross5360 I suffer from the same disease, diagnosed at 24 I'm now 35, its no joke ill tell you that and its unreal that Mick is still rocking, inspiration to spoonies everywhere

Age doesn’t cause a musician to play badly, but the condition Mars has will eventually.

Very good songwriter. Much better writer than his actual music talents as a player. He made a great career for himself by just playing root notes on his bass. But his song writing in the rock world is really, really good. Writing and publishing is where the money is, so you can add 'being smart' to the list of his skills. Motley is one of the lucky bands that were very fortunate to be able to buy back the publishing and ownership to their own songs. They own their own catalog. So you can say that he is a good businessman too. Once he got straight, it was good decision after good decision.

Mick’s a legend. He has to walk onto stage when the lights are off because of his disease making him feel pain when walking even extremely slow. Meanwhile Vince has no disease and he sounds like a dying walrus.
