New Hornet is £7k and has 50% more power

Hornet is going to kill in this price range. Honda built quality, reliability and great specs priced the same as *cheap " Chinese based bikes . No competition.

I really enjoyed all comments. I remember our deep bias in early 60's and 70's when quality,reliable Japanese motorcycles 🏍 were barely entering the market. Our Eurocentric, USA zeal was really fanatical, for the ones who had ridden them , the old fashioned faulty engines, obscenely pricey parts and horrific dealerships. Innovation is great ! So just please keep prices reasonable, especially if you are entering the market !

Great review. That is not a Kawasaki engine. Plenty of Rolex watches for sale for £50 that are copies, just like that engine.

If people rode spec sheets we'd all be riding Honda Hornets, but I really need a bike that excites me somehow, looks or otherwise. The new honda does nothing for me, it's got a load of tech I don't care about, looks that are forgettable, and probably isn't going to be made in Japan anyways (the CB650 was made in Taiwan I believe). The Moto Morini might not be my cup of tea exactly, but at least it's got great looks and great suspension combined with a much better implemented dash than the Honda.

Just saw the scrambler in the flesh at the Scottish Motorcycle Show, it's gorgeous. Got home and googled the price..... the same as a Honda Hornet. Hmmmmm. Has to be Honda then.

That old, 'should I go (pseudoclassic) Italian with my heart, or Japanese with my brain?' argument will never go away.

Everyone is comparing it to the Honda hornet. Look at the riding positions of the 2 bikes. I would be crippled in under 10 minutes of riding the hornet. Might go fast, but you won't go far. Just another bike that will set in the garage while the owner is out on a bike he can actually ride.

Yes, I remember the Moto Moroni [sic] 3½ (and its even rarer big brother, the 500 and little brother singles of 175 and 250cc, which used just the front cylinder of the larger v-twins), as a friend was crazy enough to own one. On the rare occasions it was roadworthy, it was decent enough handling but underpowered, but it was as reliable as a Tory politician's promise and he always had to wait for parts from the main dealer, hence the rarity value - not many people were daft enough to buy one, and those that had one weren't able to ride it much. And a left-footed kickstart (only - the electric start was only added to the 500). The perfect example of a garage queen. Now still as overpriced but with bought-in parts and helping to fund the genocidal CCP - hard pass.

Kawasaki engine was bullet proof I don't think it will be built by Chinese for me the hornet 750 same money more power will definitely have better residuals so why on earth would you buy Chinese bike pretending to be Italian doesn't make any sense.

Honda Hornet - 2 words.........

What, aside from the brand name, is Italian about this bike? One might argue that the tank design is Italian-ish - I would not be surprised if that has little practical connection to Italy, as well. As the brakes were mentioned I couldn't help wondering if those, too, were genuine in name only. The attempt to disguise this with marketing it transparent and disingenuous - can't there be some criticality here? And can't we agree that China is producing decent enough bikes to make it without the coverup?

A 60 BHP Chinese built bike with a cloned 15 year old engine for £7000 is a good price ??? ...When a 90 BHP brand newly designed Honda Hornet is the same price !!! What planet are these guys on ?? No credibility when talking nonsense like this.

Well that fell on deaf ears judging by the comments. And the Honda does sound more tempting. I was never a Honda fan. And probably still aren't. After 40+ years of riding bought my first one last year. It does everything OK. And will no doubt continue to. But does it take over your senses and make you feel alive. Not really. It's a Honda. The reason I never owned one before is they are uniformly bland. I liked bikes that were different. Raucous. Bit you if you didn't pay attention. I'm old now so past caring. I liked the look of the two Italian/Japanese/ Chinese clone bikes. The price is steep to compete with bigger name more up to date opposition. And that has to go against them. It has a Chinese engine. As they now build engines for nearly everything. And in numbers that dwarf everybody else does that really matter. You pay squillions for some upmarket brand. Half the components were made in China anyway. Perhaps it's just me. But when I was younger I would rather rock up down the pub on something different to the norm. For others it is the safe bet and the best resale value. Sounds like the pub car park will be full of Honda Hornets. Next to my Morini 6.5.

WHO HAS £7k to blow on a bike after all other bills. Cost of bikes & cars is unrealistic. Or should I get a better job as the Tories say. Stick with my 30yr old VFR thank you.

The problem with every guy that has commented here is that when they hear the word CHINESE they go nuts! But in reality 90% of everything made is from China, i have this bike and its perfect in every aspect i dont understand the hate. You should try it before speaking.

All good until it's a year old and everything starts to break because it's Chinese junk. 3:33 head over the white line, and freeze frame at 4:37, the white van had to get off the road to avoid you because you were in the middle of the road behind the vehicle filming you 🫣
