+Grayson Maximillian Phoenix and a shit ton uglier in my opinion. and much easier to drop with it being the tallest phone out there basically and being made of metal
💗 I bought one and it's the most beautiful thing I ever saw,the bulk feels so good and the screen is so damn lovely. I really love the speakers and the camera ,and the battery lasts a day for me.
I currently own the LG V10, Nexus 6p, Note 5, and Moto X Pure. The Moto X is my favorite one out of all of them. I think it has a lot to do with the feel in hand (as Michael pointed out) and the software. Nothing beats Moto Display, in my opinion. The IR sensors are awesome. I never have to use the power button on this phone. It reads SMS messages to me when I'm driving and has one of the more consistent performances out of all of my phones. I'm also a fan of the edge-to-edge screen and front-facing speakers. I got mine for $350 on Amazon Warehouse deals and for that price, it was a complete steal. I frequently tell people that they can't get a better phone for the money. And it's a better phone for half the price of the Note 5, especially since it manages RAM better with 1GB less available. I have zero complaints about this phone and that says a lot in a world where no smartphone is perfect.
Bought a Moto X Pure two months ago, due to its initial review here. Loving it still. Battery life is fine, Turbocharge is amazing. Moto Suite is still the most useful Android tweak 3 years running.
People who signed a two year contract for this, I salute you. I purchased this by paying money up-front, and still havent regreted it. The rubber back makes it feel so different and relieving from the mainstream phones
Your request is granted. He now posts on a dedicated channel called "Mr. Mobile." And while he might've forgotten about the best Android phone ever created on that channel, his reviews are still pretty spicy and insightful.
I wish you guys would've touched on the wear and tear on the wood backs after a few months. I'm really contemplating getting the bamboo when I order, but not so much if it doesn't hold up
What a concise review After the Buzz! Helped me buy a Moto X Pure for myself today. Michael, you're simply the best reviewer of the tech-world. Keep it up!
Aside from the sub-par battery life on this phone it is still a very good Android offering. I recently received the Android N update on at&t and I will soon replace the battery myself with a brand new one; the process is quite easy apparently. This phone will be especially hard to let go of because I used Moto Maker to make it my own upon its initial release but a new battery and the Nougat update should get me into the spring release season to search for a new flagship or premium mid-range phablet. It has definitely been my favorite phone of all time.
I bought the Moto X a few months ago and am delighted with it. I havn't been tempted once to jump ship, which is unusual for me after this amount of time.
+Luiz Eduardo I really like the OPT and a friend of mine owns it, but I'd go with the Z5. The OPT seems so unreliable and hard to replace. My friend who bought it just a few months after release had to change the battery as it was not functioning properly, and finding the battery wasn't that easy or cheap either. If you read the forums, you'll find many people like that, not a huge lot, but a considerable amount. The software and performance are on par, the camera maybe better on the OPT (ymmv), which looks better depends on you, but I'd personally go with the Sony. However, the OPT is much cheaper and bang for buck. It comes down to hoping you won't be plagued by issues and whether you can handle the customer service issues that come with it.
I acquired a Onelus 2 as a backup device (sent my Moto X PE for warranty claim), and the lack of android updates because now the 3 and 3T is out really kills it.
Good to hear this is still the case. Though I could have used this 'After the Buzz' two days ago when I signed a 24 month contract to to get my mitts on one here in Australia, thanks all the same same and keep up the good work Michael
I use an iPhone on a daily basis, but the Moto x will always have a spot in my heart. It stands out and isn't forgettable like every other black and silver slab on the market.
I am currently using the pure edition, love the phone, extremely powerful and fast, only problem I have with this phone is that when changing the streaming channels on RU-vid. You'll have a tough time in doing that, sent the complain to Google and they have still yet to rectify the problem
+MadSupra354 I'd argue they're about the same. The MXP has a better camera, better battery, SD card expansion, and Quick Charge. The OP2 has a better processor and fingerprint sensor. The OP2's USB-C connector isn't even spec compliant, I wouldn't count that as a benefit in anyway. It has none of the benefits of USB-C and has the big caveat too: it's not widespread.
Going to be buying one of these soon. I've been using a Oneplus One for more than two years now. It was a great phone, but the battery is really starting to show its age-it drains to 60% with minimal use after just a few hours. I hope that I get the same if not more mileage out of the Moto X. :)
agreed, I got the Moto X based off what you said (besides the screen size and technology) and I still love it, instantly did, I didn't have to force myself to like I did with my samsung
Bought my pure after watching the initial review. Trying to get my friends to pick it over the 6p, but of course they went Nexus, which is not a bad thing at all. But, holding and tinkering with the nexus, I have to agree that to me the Moto X is still the standout as when I bought it a few months back. The 6p does things mine does not, sure. But the feature set is still as alluring now more than ever.
Still wanting to buy either a Moto X PE or OnePlus X to use along side of my iPhone 6 Plus. I can't handle being stuck to one mobile platform. Just can't decide between which of the 2 phones to get. :/
I appreciate this after-buzz video. I just bought a Huawei Honor 5x after moving from my 1st gen Moto X. I loved that phone but had to go cheaper as the Moto X Style was just too expensive. If I can win one somewhere, I will definitely switch out my sim and use it. I loved everything about my phone, outside of the laughably delayed updates (12-15 months).
Watching on my moto x pure! My only complaint is that RU-vid videos set on 1440p freeze :( I'm running marshmallow and I don't remember this happening when I was on lollipop. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
I really love my LG G4 but there is just something about this device that I absolutely love. Maybe it's the near stock Android ui, the speakers, and the front facing flash. As long as Motorola bumps up the specs and keeps the important features like Micro SD card expansion, I may just get the 2016 Moto X when it comes out.
I have a 16 gb version. I recommend having a battery pack. But if you aren't a heavy user (videos and gaming on the go) you just might survive the day. Just charge if you find yourself stopped. The turbo charge is too good
Michael, can you do an after the buzz video on the pebble time steel (since I've noticed you've been wearing one for quite some time). how well has it aged for you?
I just bought the phone, but I can't for the life of me find out how to record video in 1080p@60fps. Tried a few camera apps, but the only one that lets me change the framerate just gives me an error message "framerate not supported". According to Motorola, the device should be able to do it. Any ideas?
l bought one for Xmas coming from a OnePlus One; although, I'm missing some features from the OPO, the Moto X Pure has some pretty cool ones. Love the screen size, love the speakers, love the curved designed and non slippery rubber back. Love the front facing flash led and since Android 6.0 update battery life appears to be a little better. I would definitely buy whatever version comes this year, if Lenovo keeps Motorola's Engineers and designing group for their mobiles.
I was so close to clicking the order button after designing mine 4-5 times. I held out to see what the new Nexus devices were bringing. The 6p got my money because of battery life and I wasn't sure Lenovo could be trusted with updates. Can't front... I'm still leaning towards getting an XPE simply because it's the last great Moto phone.
I can't decide which phone to buy: Oneplus 2 or Moto X Pure? My main concern is how it will age over time. Oneplus 2 has a better processor, gpu and RAM. I'm kind of turning to the Oneplus 2 but I see a lot of comments and posts saying to buy Moto X Pure instead. Please someone help.
My dad is getting a new phone since his old one broke and uses phones very lightly, we're deciding between the Moto X, LG G4, and the Nexus 5x. We don't want to spend more than 400$ on a phone and we're thinking of getting this. Is this a good choice?
The 5x will get more support and future updates, it is a capable phone and will not disappoint. There are a few problems with the G4 such as the bootloader problem that numerous customers have complained about. And the Moto x has the poor performing non-removable battery. If you don't care much about the screen get the 5x, not that the screen is bad but the Moto x and the G4 both have quad he screens and the Nexus has 1080p. If you don't care much about expandable memory, then get the 5x.
I actually waited until the MXPE got Android 6.0 to buy it, just checking how long it would take for Motorola/Lenovo to update the device. Here hoping that with the next update they move as swift as they did in 2015. So far so good in the daily use of the phone.
I still love my moto x style. I have had metal phones and they're slippery. No need for skin or case. I had nexus 5 enjoy the expandable storage. In Australia the price difference between the moto x and nexus 6p much more than in the USA. I like the fast charging and front facing speakers. For the price it's great. I'd prefer to be able to afford yearly updates than pay $899 for a Nexus 6p and more for others with similar special.
+Moises Topete You fiend! Haha, I'm gonna buy it within the next week. My Nexus 6 has a screen issue and it'll cost $240 the fix so I might as well get the Pure at that point.
I have had to do two returns on mine. SD card has stopped working on every phone that I've had. Light bleed on another. Customer Service has been horrible.
after the buzz ,the screen stops projecting black color in a few areas(2 months old, never dropped ) and projects blue instead,so you have to send it for repairs ...
from March 12 to March 18 2016, Moto X Pure is $299/$324 for 16gb Normal and bamboo Versions and $399/$424 for 32gb on Motorola.com, Bestbuy and Amazon
Chunky piece of rubber? NEVER FORGET, the Moto X Pure is one of the most comfortable phones to hold despite being large, if you go with the rubber back of course.
I was going to buy this phone, but has i wasn't sure about it i decided to get the Note 4. I am still quite happy, but there is something about that phone that makes me like it. It looks bad ass!
