I bought this phone a few days ago for around $300 and i love it. I really dig the Moto actions- wrist twist for camera is handy, the flashlight chop took me a while to master but is great. I thought i would miss the knock to wake from my previous phone the LG G2 but being able to wave my hand over the phone to wake it is just as good- though i miss being able to turn the display off with a double knock but not too big a deal. I appreciate the Attentive Display which is not a feature bespoke to this phone but with its 3 sensors works very well here. The big thing this phone is missing-if i can say anything, for the year 2016, would be a fingerprint reader which for me makes no difference but for some, might. My main criteria with a happy phone upgrade is that it does everything my old phone did but as good or better- never worse, and i can say this phone has fit the bill for me. I bought it new with Android Marshmallow already on it which was an awesome surprise. I haven't had any issues getting through the day with it nor does it get warm from menial tasks such as web browsing - which drove me nuts on the G2. The MicroSD card slot is fantastic! I was able to get the 16 GB version of the phone- which these days would be a usability nightmare (with android itself @ 6 GB these days) and have been able to put all my media and the apps i want on the SD card, keeping the phone light and fast whilst storing everything i need/want and saving me $$ on admittedly pricey upgraded versions of the phone with higher capacity storage.
2003JrF4i Yes for sure I love it actually. I use it pretty hard at times and battery has been lasting very well and the times like this week where its 90+ and im outside taking photos and doing work on it it gets warm but the battery doesn't drain like my previous phone, it's great. Speed is awesome, and the ram helps keep open programs easily switchable. Have fun with it!
isaac Hunt A few days after i got the phone i installed MX Player but only because im used to doing that, but i haven't had issues playing anything (with that program) so give it a try! Also i use "Black Player" for my music. Both are free.
Is that the turquoise back cover? Because the turquoise on the Moto Maker looks teal. I love the shade from this video. And people who talked about the LED. Does it change colors, or just the standard red and green?
Thanks for this video, i listen to music using the phones speakers, and they didnt get to loud before the limiter kicked in, well Motorola had it on the super bass, i put it on off and it sounds better. ty
thanx for the video ! but i wonder about the responsiveness of the touchscreen. how does it feel ? in the video, it seems not as fast as nexus 5 (for example)
Will Moto X Play get all of these actions? Right now we have only twist for quick capture. I know that approach will not be added due to the absence of IR sensors, but what about other ones?
Can you install 3rd party apps from the Google Play Store directly onto the external micro SD card? Or is it restricted and you can only store media (songs, music, etc)? Thanks.
I've had my Moto X pure for about 2 weeks now and for some reason everytime I have to use pin to access it, instead of just opening to my normal home screen with the Google at the top and my apps that I have on that one home screen it automatically opens up to my phone app so I'm always like having to close that phone app each and every time. Is there any way to stop that from always launching to the phone?
Can someone point out WHERE is the "..our Moto X Pure Edition REVIEW" is - I've looked all over droid life video posting here and can;t seem to find it. The Full review that is ? any help ?
My Moto X style has stopped recognising the memory card all of a sudden. I am not able to see the photos and videos present in the memory card . Vedeo and photos are also not getting downloaded.can someone help?

Anyone have issue with call volume? I need to have mine clear up to have adequate sound and or position the phone on my ear just right. Half volume isn't adequate volume at all. Very nice phone, but I'm a little frustrated with this volume. Even music at half volume to me should be louder than it is.
Well they're both certainly great phones. However I just found that the battery life of the Moto X Pure just couldn't get me to what I wanted (around 2.5-3ish hours of SOT vs. the Nexus where I get 3.5-4ish). I love the AMOLED screen of the Nexus (or Sexus, if you will) and the battery life, and I found that it has slightly better performance (less occasional stutters than the Moto). I also really like the fingerprint sensor, and it's so natural to me. However, all in all I probably like the form factor and the build of the Moto more than the Sexus. The phone was cradled in the hand, whereas the Sexus just feels like a slab of aluminium. I also don't really have as much of a problem with there being no SD card slot on the Nexus as I thought I would. I bought the 64GB variant and I don't think I've even used 32GB. All my pictures are stored on Google Photos. *So here's my final verdict-* The Moto X Pure is the better value, but the Nexus 6P is the better phone. It depends on what your values are in a phone. I'm a big fan of the Nexus 6P, and it's honestly the closest to a perfect smartphone as it could be. *TLDR*- both are great phones, and you won't go wrong with either. Just depends on your values.
Anyone found a workaround for the hotspot other than rooting the phone? on my unlocked Nexus I could use the hotspot feature without paying extra through my carrier now on this phone it runs a check if you have a subscription for hotspot service
David Sears mine is black on the display side so no; Moto maker allows you to customize the color scheme of your phone if you buy it directly from the manufacturer
+Nathan Poulos I'm not sure if it's stock, does it say Google Now launcher when you check your app list in the play store? if not then it's not Google Now launcher.
Yep, better than ever. Especially after the Android 6.0.1 update. Its bound to be even better after the Android 7.0 update, which is expected to be out by the end of the year(Moto is the first to update their flagship device "Moto Z and Z Force")
my sd MicroSD card keeps disappearing from my phone and then my camera saves pictures to the internal memory. o have a 128 gig card. anybody else having this problem or found how to fix it?
I had the same problem with the Moto X Play. The SD Card was at fault. The card dissappearing again and again. I finally bought a new exactly similar Samsung 128GB 100+ read speed and 80+ write speed. The problem never reappeared(been using the Samsung card for 8 months)
Was thinking about getting the moto x force coz of the bigger battery. I'm a heavy user so need as much battery as possible. I'm sure there not to different.
+Benjamin Gulker no led light, and moto display is sooo annoying, wakes up not just for a wave, but any movement, anything relatively in front of it, i turned it off after a day.
no, it has expandable storage. I bought the 16 gb model with 128 gb sd card. Idk about you, but the on board storage is more than enough for my apps and the expandable is more than enough for music, movies, and pictures. The expandable storage was actually a main selling point for me on this phone.
