AWD Audi transmission into B7 Audi. L Progress updates include 3D designed and printed motor mounts with laser cut components and the jig to make them using 3D printed design. Also talk about the aluminum 6061 starter bracket to utilize a Hitachi smaller diameter LS gear reduction starter with the small diameter flywheel that will fit inside the Audi bellhousing build progress showing off components from water jet to make motor mounts. Motor mounts I made previously are too hard so I used laser cut / water jet 1/4 steel then weld them together.

Following! Definitely never thought of using the B8 trans. Isn’t the B8 trans physically larger than the O1E?

Yes it is, but it does fit the transmission tunnel with a bit of hammering. The subframe also needs clearanced or a tubular subframe has to be used. What makes the B8 transmission worth it is that the axle flanges are roughly 5-6 inches further forward compared to the O1E so that means the engine sits closer to the firewall without excessive angle of the front CVs. So using the B8 transmission (OB2/OB4) is the lesser of two evils. The O1E won’t fit unless you move it back and put crazy angles on the front CVs or relocate your radiator to the back because the engine would be sitting so far forward.

How would the swap be with an LS3 and like a Tremec TR6060 or something? Basically 5th gen camaro engine trans swap. Would be RWD obviously but would it be easier you think?

You could sit the motor further back so might be easier; doesn’t mean the transmission is gonna clear the tunnel though. The front axles you can just run the outer CV to eliminate them. The biggest problem will changing out the rear differential and fabbing a mount as well as axles to fit since the Audi driveshaft and rear end rotates opposite to what most domestic cars do.

Ah dang didn't know it was reverse rotation! Maybe a cool opportunity to fit a CTS-V diff or something that can handle serious power though.@@projectLSaudiA4
