@fraserwright9482
@fraserwright9482 19 дней назад
That is a reflection of the retail profile, Revzilla or a franchise store is a push method, they get a container of Alpine star jackets and review it to sell it then discount it. Fortnine is a pull method, they pick items and only sell those. Although there are hybrid versions of these and sub sections, such as drop ship. Ryan at F9 is there to guide the process, F9 don't need to stock a range of Alpine star jackets, just the one Ryan likes, such as the sunglasses he wears in each video.

What I think of with the changes in RU-vid is like this. When a funky, cool area with a lot of cafes and clubs exists, and people come from all over town to hang out there. After a while, big chain stores and restaurants want in on that foot traffic, which drives up the rents, which forces out all the funky little places, leaving a corporate wasteland of sameness.

The shilling has gotten out of control across the board. That's one of the major reason I watch this channel. I feel like I'm getting an honest, straight up opinion. I also watch for the relentless, scorched earth trolling... I love that I got a RevZilla add right on que halfway through the video 😅
@Star_Taro
@Star_Taro 19 дней назад
I really appreciated the transparency. It's not just the auto/ moto video category, it's everything. It seems like all these larger channels make videos just for the money, not the actual passion involved in making content and reaching a genuine audience.

Interesting points. I agree that Revzilla provides content around their inventory, Ryan at Fortnine generally does not promote merchandise, or even shopping at Fortnine. These seem like very different "corporate" approaches.
@fraserwright9482

But the whole point of Fortnine was to highlight the products they sell or have aggregated for Canadian riders, the sunglasses are a good example. As Yammie said, no harm no foul, he has to make a buck like everyone else.

That being said I have bought from revzilla cause they make it so damn convenient. I do also enjoy the Highsode Lowside podcast. Advertising as the primary source of revenue always leads to the same place. Ens***ification. The content is the "hook" it exists only to get you to buy, not to educate or discuss. I think it'd be idealistic if it were always up to the creator and the content they make, to rake in all the profits needed to consistently put out content, but at the same time, reality is that RU-vid and internet content in general is the new contemporary media. If it were to gain any sort of validation in this capitalistic economy, it unfortunately requires a higher degree of financial management over artistic/creative management. Selling out is not longer looked down upon, instead is understood as a requirement for any independent to turn over into, unless they have essentially nothing to lose. It's tragic in a sense, but at the same time, I do think it's not impossible to still make creative works while still shilling for products, and often times creators try to be diligent with what they sell to align with what their content is meant to reflect. It sucks but comes with a lot of opportunities, online content creation is no longer a hobby/side hustle, it's a full time job or nothing now.

I agree. Once I made the decision to sell my home, I’ve watched a ridiculous amount of motorcycle content. I’m in Moto-limbo, where I can’t buy my bike until my house is sold. I am living through you Yammie.

I'm a small content creator (that would like to be bigger!), I have to fit it around two jobs. I've come under criticism for one or two things, remember getting a derogatory comment about a review I did on the 2020 Africa Twin because they couldn't hear me properly at a small section where I was doing motorway speeds. Find myself reminding them, that much as I love to do this I have other priorities right now. Like covering living costs!

RU-vid to me was always a resource to evaluate the bikes I was interested in. I don't want to be sold anything, I don't want to see stupid crap being done and I just want honesty and facts with a genuine person. Motorcycles are fun and are supposed to be enjoyed. As I've gotten older I realize more and more that life is so short and you need to enjoy it. I personally enjoy sharing videos! Its not a job its just fun! Nice video man! I enjoyed this very much! Stay Safe

It's been 8 years since I started riding and have used review content to help buy a lot of gear over that time, more so later on as the amount of choice has sky rocketed it's a golden age. But being outside of the states I then choose the cheaper outlet online or a local shop to try on said gear before buying it. Thats great, that's what those channels do and those big companies should stay in their lane. I've watched ol yamms here because it was relatable and motivational to ride more as he express's the fun things that is motorcycles Your authentic and that's what gets the views. It comes down to a trust triangle Facts/information, empathy and authenticity. example: watch a review it's got the facts a good product name brand and all about it's construction. Their authentic (a real shop "realish riders") it's not a dodgy third world broken English accent person talking. Only leaving them being empathic which if they just shout "BUY MY GEAR from XX large company" your less likely to trust them. which they do so instead they've done these "ride videos" to appear more empathic, right they riders to we "care"

I'm a Harley and Indian rider and love the constant jabs from Yammie. Ultimatley riders are riders and it should be all in good fun and I hate to see the HD guys in particular trash other riders for what they ride or whatever. Besides Yammie Noob, my favorite motorcycle channel is Harley Geezer. An old guy in Florida with about 5K subscribers who is like talking with your grandpa whos been riding way longer than you've been alive. No negative talk on anyone just a chill conversation and maybe some minor product reviews with no sponsorship and corporate manipulation. And Gixxerfoo... love him too. Two of the videos I really look forward to every Friday. HD centric for sure but no negative BS cuz we all get enough of that these days.

As someone looking to get started…I am discouraged. I just want to ride and share the good times and the bad times. It’s enriching to learn from others and inspire each other, no need to buy much at all. The riches are in the knowledge and experience not the fancy equipment or shiniest new bike.

My biggest grievance with youtube is when they changed how adds worked and forced content creators to make 10 minute long videos as a minimum. Most videos don't need to be that long. So they all feel really padded out.

This is another great Yammienoob video. As usual, I love your honesty and candidness of what you do. Ari and Zach are great and so is Ryan. However, I’ve probably watched and followed your channel more than either revzilla or fortnine. With that being said, the revzilla video of Ari and Zach dual sporting on vintage bikes in Montana or Wyoming is awesome and Ryan always has some fantastic engineering for us to geek out on. Tdubbs kid is cool too if you have a fascination with the TW 200. As usual, thanks for all your hard work. Oh yea, let me throw in that ct 90 guy. He makes some pretty adventurous and entertaining content.

I really enjoyed this subject. I am a small creator, and yes, it is much more work than a person would think it would be. I do enjoy doing it. Owning and operating your own business is already stressful, then throw youtube into the mix it can add even more stress. I keep my channel real and no fabricated drama, and it will stay that way even if my channel grows slow. Have a wonderful day, and thanks for your videos. I know your videos take a ton of work and time.

"Old timer who bought something and made a video about it " That hits really close to home for me 😂 I've done everything from luggage reviews for my bike to a debate on whether bigfoots penis is a red rocket like a dog or a big furry dangler. After the channel relaunch after it was taken down a few years ago it has basically turned into a trip inside the mind of a 50 year old man with ADHD. 😂

I tried to do the YT thing once (documenting the resurrection of a $100 Aprilia). I *quickly* learned that despite having all the passion possible for doing the motorcycle work, the GRIND of shooting the video sapped all the joy right out of me. I think I filmed for 2 or 3 days and gave up filming (not really intentionally, I just realized I'd been working without filming). MASSIVE respect gained for those who do produce videos, but I suspect that YT is for camera/video people who also have an interest in something else.

I've noticed this too. I've been shopping for an adventure bike, specifically looking at the Yamaha T7. The amount of content creators receiving this bike on the terms of a sponsorship makes me question the legitimacy of the reviews. And many of the people who receive the bike are usually very very skilled riders. Not representative of an average rider's skillset but it's there to convince buyers "if i buy this, I can do this too" on a 450lb motorcycle. Just flinging these bikes around jumps and singing the bikes' praises. Marketing knows their audience. It's effective, but it seems ingenuine.

The problem with corporate influence in RU-vid and everywhere else is when they eventually dominate a market they immediately begin to run at bare minimums to chase every penny and have no competition to worry about. The eventual outcome of continual growth is monopoly.
@NoName789dfgnjkld
@NoName789dfgnjkld 19 дней назад
It's the same in every industries, competition tend to kill the small players. But lack of new channel/participants is what kills the platform on the long run. There is only that much gear someone can wear and only that many products reviews someone can watch. I'd rather watch small channel like the guy who went of roadding with his Hayabusa 😂😂 Or mechanic fixing some 20 years old bikes. Stuff like that. Or even God forbid yammienoobs videos 😁 ( really enjoyed your Himalayan review video for instance, good content nice landscape and overall something different). Anyways this comment is way too long, ill keep coming back here for more motorcycle content 🙏

13:50 and by the way, I love your format. Even the way that I can tell you must have a pool you pull from for the daily videos on which ones you have not done in a while. I love the classical music, the updates on old formats and intros, and countless times you have sent me down a rabbit hole with the fact of the day. And I get a little excited when I recognize you recorded another 'keep watching" bit for the end. If you're looking for an atta boy, well, the Hunter S. Thompson remark was it. (I call Brian from RCR the Hunter S. Thompson of the car world).. you're doin great man -- your wife would leave you if you weren't .....keep it up*****************hahah - I will assume that you read my previous comment, since I assumed you would remove it anyway. but this one you can leave up, I hope. like I said - Keep. It. Up. If you feel your time should have come and hasn't, there is always the chance you are living in your moment. But more than likely, you are being impatient. you can't tell beginner riders to be patient and not practice what you preach.

I love learning from others and adding to it and living it out..like you say Im just a guy on RU-vid. But in the end you educated me to buy my first motercycle and some proper gear,basic tips on riding, maintenance and made it fun and enjoyable and probably safer then if I did it alone beings really none of my friends or family ride...I seriously would of never bought a ninja 400 but because of some of your reviews on it as a beginner bike that's what I went with and I just love that little guy......thanks yammie good stuff👍

The frustrating thing about youtube is that when you are a small channel, but you are willing to put time and effort in your videos you are still in the same boat or more often below people who are doing reactions (AKA stealing other people's content) so you made a few shorts with good results and then youtube decided that the next one only gets 45 views or so, because they chose a bad timing or a group of people. But I get it takes time I guess...

I like Revzilla's channel because of the content that they make that isn't trying to sell stuff. The CTXP extended content is fun, and both Shop Manual and Daily Rider are not really trying to sell me anything. I watch the ones that ARE trying to sell me stuff too. If I'm going to buy stuff anyway, I'm more likely to buy it from a company that's keeping Zach and Ari employed making fun content.
