Motorcycle Destination: Iron Mountain Road South Dakota. Iron Mountain Road is 17 miles with 314 curves and 14 switchbacks. What more could you want? Oh yeah the elevation is over 5K and surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills National Forest. You find this road on route 16A and near Mt. Rushmore. This is definitely one of my favorite rides in South Dakota. The way the road splits and sends you through the forest is just amazing. Take a trip to experience what South Dakota has to offer. #harleydavidson #ironmountain #sturgis #southdakota

It was July and in the 80s. The weather there changes a lot. I remember it being chilly at night. I’ve also seen it snow in August. It was a great time to go for sure.
