I wish I could take credit for it, we just made it better with the frenched bungs we now use. They pull the 90 degree barb fitting in closer to the tank for a much cleaner look. It's the details that matter most!

How do the gauges work? Is there a form of float or is it like a handle in a milk jug?
@billetproofdesigns5609
@billetproofdesigns5609 3 года назад
Thanks for the interest brother. It's pretty straight forward how they work. Since liquids seek their own height, the fluid in the hose reflects the height of the fluid in the gas tank. There is nothing mechanical in these gauges that can break or fail. Simple weld in two bungs, thread in the fittings and cut a hose to length that will fit between the two fittings. We can install them on a new tank that you purchase from us or one you already have. Thanks for the interest and have a great day.

@billetproofdesigns5609
@billetproofdesigns5609 3 года назад
These are universal kits should work with most gas tanks out there; including the 883 peanut. In terms of what's "best" that's really up to you.

Yes, of course. I prefer the hose kit style gauge. Sometimes it can be hard to see in a tank with the 12ga site. A lot of guys install the 12ga site for looks only.

I suprised nobody has made an electronic fuel gauge and sender unit for older bikes.. youd just have to mske a fuel cap that screws in and stays there and then use capacitive sensor like harleys oem sender and then run two wires up out of the now semi permanent fuel cap so we can run power to it and have the readout around the edge of the insert for the fuel cap then simply have a smaller cap that screws out to fill up the tank with fuel... and with the sender unit being extendable you could have extendion pieces so we can make it longer or shorter for different tanks. I know myself and some others that would buy it even if it cost 300 or more bucks to not have to track miles or check the tank and instead just look st the fuel cap and see how many lights i have left even if its not perfeftly touching the bottom of the tank atleast it would allow me to update my older bikes

If you low side with the fuel gauge down, isn't it a huge fire hazard?
@billetproofdesigns5609
@billetproofdesigns5609 2 года назад
Of course there is a risk, let's not be naive. But you should also be concerned with your vented fuel cap and tank. They too are going to leak fuel if your bike lays down. It's great that you are considering the modifications you make to your motorcycle and the effects they may have. Thank you for the comment and ride safe!

How do you the holes in the tank..tanks
@billetproofdesigns5609
@billetproofdesigns5609 4 года назад
Best way that we've found to put the holes in the tank is with a UNIBIT or stepped drill bit. Don't confuse this with a twist bit. You do not want to use a twist bit on sheet metal.UNIBITs can be found at any decent hardware store or Home Depot / Lowes.

Will these work on a atv?
@billetproofdesigns5609
@billetproofdesigns5609 3 года назад
They will on any steel or aluminum tank. This kit will not work on plastic tanks since you have to weld in a bung. If your tank is plastic, you can get it to work, however you'll have to use a sort of bulk head fitting. Hope this helps some, thanks for watching.
