Never forget, insurance companies aren't your friends. They exist to make profit, not to help you. You are merely a source of money and if they can take more from you or avoid giving any back, they will.
@HalfdeadRider

Yep, they have just got worse over the years too. I just cancelled a car policy, roughly £30 pm, they told me I had to pay £86 to cancel, I cancelled and they are not getting shit. Years ago I have cancelled policies early and got money back because it was halfway through a month I had already paid for, even got the difference back on a fully paid policy too once. They have forgotten what customer support/loyalty actually is worth to them.

I agree also, its bloody hard in Australia here, im 19 and most companies wont even cover you if you're under 25 let alone the fact if you do get full comp its a stupid amount of money and 8/10 times they'll screw you around and hold off a pay out or repair for as long as possible

Just been on the phone to these guys and waiting to see what they can do for me, even if they can't do any better than current quotes I will say the "customer experience" was far better than anything you would get from other companies. It's like you are talking to someone who actually knows about bikes and tries their best to get you the best deal.

The real test is how hard they fight your case after a claim, all seem excellent in customer service wen selling then completely give up once you pay its like they got 40 people on sales and 1 handling claims and that person works an hour a week, I remember the good ok days before anpr , cover notes were only a score of me mate mark

Just insured my bike with these guys, absolute blinder of guy on the other end of the phone. Really helpful and listened to what I needed with a Europe trip coming up next year as well as an offer of discussing the new purchase DEC/JAN as well as the best deal for the insurance possible. Amazing personal service, like chatting to an old mate down the pub. Will look to stay with them for sure - more brokers should be like this.

I work in claims department of one of the insurance companies and the questions You should be asking is how they go about a claim. How is a non fault claim being dealt with what are the charges at the valuation stage if the bike is a total loss.People are concentrated on just how much will they pay for the insurance. Think further how much You would get back for Your bike in the event of a total loss and how much compulsory excess they charge You.Most of cases bikers have massive excess sometimes more than half of the bike value 😑 also When Baron asked why IC like to total loss the bikes in stead of repairing them I will tell You because they will buy the salvage off You and sell it with profit so sometimes even tough the bike could be fixed it's a TL to earn some cash off You.Its all sad really.Bottom line is look for insurance on compare websites never call them and ALWAYS check the excess note that in the event of a claim You will pay for both voluntary + compulsory keep that in mind.Last but not least read Your policy and You will avoid disappointment in the future there are so many exclusions for every policy that You will be surprised on when Your IC will help You and when they won't.

I'm insured with these guys. They broke their backs getting me an amazing policy on my brand new bike after my previous insurer were completely useless and messed me about. Best customer service experience I've ever had with an insurance company. Was a big difference to the standard computer-says-no treatment from other insurers.

Tried to go with BeMoto, ran off a list of cosmetic mods, two of which affect performance (Master cylinder, brake pads) and they said 'not a chance'. Perfectly nice bloke to deal with though it does seem like they just fill in the same form you do on any website with their insurers and wait for the same answers.

Great video, I'd like to see more like this. I have a BMW K1300s HP, and after missing my Fireblade too much bought another. Called up the insurance company, purely for ease of having to only remember one company, and they said they could not find anyone to insure it. A quick online search brought up several companies, and it was only about £400, the whole system seems ridiculous, and if this guy is genuine, then this is what it needs to be like, actual people making informed decisions.

I had a claim on a bike policy that affected my next car insurance quote. It's so nice that car insurance companies will take from your bike policy but not give to it. Basically my car insurance went up by £150 a year because I got a cheque for £280 on a bike policy that my car NCD could not be used on. So now my bike policy is more expensive and my car policy is too. Wonderful stuff.

My company actually did help me out a ton. "Progressive" charged me $300/year for full coverage on my first street bike a 2015 ninja 300 in 2015. Someone tipped my bike over while I was working and it was estimated at $2,800 USD.... I had to pay my $500 deductible. So that claim and a speeding ticket raised my yearly premium to $400/year on the same bike. Not too shabby though to be honest. To be completely honest with you I was going rightfully fast. Funny to say that about a 300 but in comparison to the speed limit I was being a twat I guess. Baron my gas tank for my 2015 ninja 300 was $735..... It had ding in it because when they tipped it over. My bike managed to also to clip a curb. Shows you how overpriced OEM can be.

Hi Baron, Just watched the vid, and not sure if I might have missed this question but don't recall it, so if you're doing a follow up could you ask? With regards to the no claims issues. Why is it that no claims isn't transferrable to other machines, but lets say I had an accident in my car, (which they ask about when insuring your bike) would that affect my bike policy? Surely if NCB is seperate on each machine, then in that case, if I have accident in car it should have no bearing on bike policy? Just another way to screw us for every penny!
@Etho_7

No claims works weird over there, our no claims bonus is attached to an individual, not the vehicle, though sometimes it doesn't follow to different insurers.

I do not envy you one bit for your über-complicated insurance.. Welcome to e-Estonia: I type in the license plate number on the internets, it gives me quotes from different companies, I pick the cheapest (atm it's about 60€ for a year), pay up and they e-mail me the document.. and that's it. Don't even have to have anything on me while riding except for an ID.. :P
@climbjay
@climbjay 6 лет назад
it’s not uber complicated. we have the same. comparethemarket.com. type in details about yourself and your bike, choose the best quote from 20 insurers, click buy insurance, pay the money. done. insured. documents emailed immediately. I’ve insured vehicles in less than 5 minutes. what this video is suggesting is rather than using a Insurance comparison website, give bemoto call centre an actual phone call and see if they can beat the next best quote.. he’s also saying that most other insurers apart from bemoto penalise riders for silly things like bike mods... which is bullshit. I’ve just insured 2 high performance Motorcycles for a year, for £400... I called bemoto first... they wanted £600 so this guy is talking absolute shit. they actually penalised me for riding history. they wanted to know each and every bike I had ever ridden and how long I had ridden each bike 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ None of the companies via the comparison website ask for any of those details. Won’t ever be considering bemoto again. Was just a waste of half an hour of my time. By promoting this video they just want your phone call and they’ve roped baron in to offer a little sweetener (excess free discount) which is absolute bollocks. The insurance company I went with quoted LESS for me selecting zero excess, than if I selected the maximum excess allowable...

I have had some painfull experiences with insurance in the past but I would like to point out one particular company that has been nothing but awesome. MCE. I bought a second bike less than a week ago just days after I renewed my insurance. I called up MCE to add the bike (a project bike over the winter) and explained the situation. I wanted it on my policy but I was only going to ride it for a few weeks this year and then it will be off the road and in bits until next summer. I was expecting fees aplenty and convoluted explanations of these fees but y'know what- they didn't charge me a penny in fees. Instead all it cost me to add the bike for the year was £18! I like to moan as much as the next brit but sometimes there is simply nothing to moan about.

I'll more than likely give Bemoto a call when I come to renew in April. From what I've seen in regards to their reviews, they're a cracking insurer. Unlike other brokers who'll refuse to adjust the price despite having an automatic 'base price' on their systems that's cheaper. Looking at you, Admiral.

One big one that was missing from this video is when you get a insurance renewal which is the cost of a new kidney so phone up asking is there's any movement on price ie very little or none....but then go on a insurance comparison website & it's cheaper with the same company ?

In the end between frustration and countless telephone conversations Bennett’s and Carole Nash actually gave me a figure, Nash got my business.

I got screwed by Lexham Insurance. Cancelled my MSX125 insurance after just over 6 months as passed full test and sold bike. Expected £60 back assuming a £40 admin fee to cancel it(a rip off in its own right). Lady said a colleague would phone back later (they were busy) to tell me how much refund I would receive. Many hours later they phoned to say I would get nothing!!! I may as well have not bothered - plus I lost 6 months' no claim bonus. This is encouraging illegal behaviour - I could have not cancelled the remainder of my insurance and "gifted" it to the buyer so that the police number plate recognition would never sound and there would be an uninsured rider on the roads. I would then get the NCB as I would never claim because I don't have the bike. Insurers don't seem to actually be at all interested in risk. Perverse!

Short rate cancellation and refund is shit. If your insurance company is doing that, change your company. The companies we write all work on a proration basis.

dont buy into it being too complicated for transparency with price calculations.

The whole little mods shouldn't matter is why I went with bennets. Screens, tidys, rear sets etc they specifically say you don't have to declare it. Even a full exhaust system added like £5 to my policy. These bemoto guys seem to have that same common sense, will definitely be checking them come renewal

if there are any bikers. please write on this thread your bike type, power, any modes done, rough estimate of age and the price of your insurance pcm. I am trying to get a rough estimate of every cost before I can venture in this lifestyle. thank you all.

+BaronVonGrumble what model of Oakley's are you wearing? I've got Holbrook's, similar but yours look like they have bigger lenses

“Too complicated” haha way to assume your customers intelligence. No it’s not transparent because they don’t want you or their employees to know how much the guys at the top (who don’t do anything) are raking in. Regardless 44T videos are great. I have a question, can I insure my van with you as well as my bike?

This guy seems like a good guy. But he is a insurance broker, not an insurer. In other words he is selling you the insurance and hopefully advocating for you if you make a claim, but not actually underwriting the risk. I would definitely want him as my broker, but that won't change the basic rule that insurance companies make money by collecting premiums, not by paying claims. Still you are always better having a biker on your side instead of some besuited eejit in the city. What I like about this guy is not that he seems like a good guy (though he does) but that it sounds like he has a selfish business interest in treating bikers well. Your best insurance is still to ride safe.
