Hi and thank you for checking out my video! This is a deeper look into the Paintless dent repair process and how I repair damages to motorcycle gas tanks. Servicing the Treasure Coast of Florida this was done for a client in Port Saint Lucie. I personally Ride a Kawasaki and have had the pleasure of owning 9 motorcycles to date. This gives me a deeper understanding of tanks and other body parts that me need repair. I hope you enjoyed this video and for help with your dent repair visit

Great job. Took my 900rs tank in a few weeks ago for a ding and he shattered the paint and clear. Only upside is I get to paint it the color of my liking lol

That is the nature of the beast. Painted metal can be unforgiving. Heat is key to keeping paint flexible. Thanks for watching and your comment

Like the way you hid how you pulled the dent with the glue tool.
@bonesdentrepair696
@bonesdentrepair696 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment as my videos are more of a way to document repair results rather then show all the techniques used. The glue pull process made up the first hour of the repair and the tool work of hammering and pushing was an Additional 3 hours or so. If there was better access points for leverage I would avoid glue as bike paint is thicker leading to paint failure in some cases. This particular dent was located where the vinyl pinstripe was located. This strip is clear coated over and not adhered like paint making this a delicate job. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for commenting. Jim

Nice job. Many tanks do have a pretty thick gauge steel and that was a long reach. It came out good!

Great question. This is most likely due to my crude camera skills. Filming is tough for me as I’m usually hyper focused on the actual task rather then documenting the process. I hope one day to produce better video content. Have a great day 😁🦅

Whatever you do DO NOT put compressed air in tank to pop out dent I found that out the hard way once i did that the bottom of the tank expanded NOT where i was expecting and if wouldn't fit back on the bike LoL

Great comment. It is very dangerous as you risk destroying the tank. No professional uses that sort of method. It is a process of reshaping with rods

I'm confused how metal tap downs and hammers don't chip the paint. How does that work?
@bonesdentrepair696
@bonesdentrepair696 6 месяцев назад
Great question. I use very precise amount of pressure when using metal tapdowns. You must clean and polish your hammers and knockdowns to ensure safety of the painted surface. It’s a delicate balance to knockdown smooth with no harm.

How hot is too hot heating with the heater ,will it damage pinstripe or transfers , cheers.
@bonesdentrepair696
@bonesdentrepair696 4 месяца назад
General temp range to heat paint making it mailable is 150-200 degrees Fahrenheit. You have to use less heat near decals stripes or emblems. Never glue pull on a stripe emblem or decal. Hope that helps Jim

Unbelievable how you artists do this. I watched another guy and he used heat (heat gun) stating the paint would crack without. You did not use heat. Clearly your repair came out beautiful but would you normally use or recommend using heat or is it not required? Thanks!
@bonesdentrepair696
@bonesdentrepair696 10 месяцев назад
Great question that was properly answered by the other technician. Heat is used to keep paint flexible to prevent cracking. Depending work conditions and many variables such as type of vehicle,paint material, metal type, depth of damage will determine if I use heat or not. This damage also had a delicate cleared over strip that I was mindful of durning repair process. Every dent is unique and must be accessed properly to ensure the correct approach. Hope this helps. Jim

What should a couple half dollar size dents cost to repair at a shop so I know when I go if they are trying to rob me... no creasing or paint damage either on them btw...
@bonesdentrepair696
@bonesdentrepair696 Год назад
Great question! Most professional companies have adopted a size guid for pricing. General price is 150$ for first inch and 50$ each additional inch. We also add 25-50% for difficulty factors such as aluminum, body line, braces… and so on. Charges for removing trim panels for access also apply. Talking price with no visual context is often misleading. I personally only price in person as it allows me to see all the hidden challenges and make judgment calls as needed. Hope this helps. Jim
