Hey Anthony. Your vlog is a godsend buddy. Building a surprise hot rod 350z for the Wife. Was planning on the plenum spacer and a few other mods you mention. A quick question ... I’ve seen cheap “race” headers for a 350 on eBay for a couple of hundred bucks. I’m sore you’ve seen them too. Are they worth the buy? I know they’re a birch to fit but I don’t mind that if it’s worth it. Any thoughts?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 5 лет назад
On an N/A setup it's not much gain for power vs cost and time. The intake manifold and a Motordyne XYZ pipe with test pipes and aftermarket it exhaust will yield a better gain after you get it tuned. That being said, after I have my engine rebuilt, I will most likely install Z1 Headers and it will be am N/A build.

Loved the tunnel bit! Revup owners on a budget can just buy a stock DE lower plenum and plenum spacer. Motordyne buys DE plenums, modifies them, and sells them for roughly 10x the price. I've noticed the same thing with the shifting as well, only I now run the revup plenum, so I'm shifting more often.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 5 лет назад
You're basically paying for a port job. You're right, if you're on a budget get a used DE version.
@benjamindo8142

I've heard the same that md lower plenums were off 03-05. I see one off a track edition in a junk yard for real cheap. If purchased is port & polish necessary lol?
@rollinthesweets6147
@rollinthesweets6147 3 года назад
@@benjamindo8142 you’re paying for the milling, on an mrev2 the tops of the intake runners on the front two are milled down 5mm and smoothed out...I have access to a mill at work and modified a non-revup plenum just like an mrev2 but also ported out the runner outlet to match the lower manifold ;)

@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 2 года назад
Thanks for watching our videos! The REVUP has more of advantage having variable valve timing on intake and exhaust (regular DE is variable intake only). If you plan to super charge it a 2005 regular DE might be cheaper to buy and be a good candidate.

Rolilasx Just FYI, so no one wastes their money. The mrev2 is really "only" beneficial for "rev up" motors. If you do have a rev up motor, then I totally recommend getting the plenum spacer w/ the mrev2. They're a beast combo for bolt ons. Oh and welcome to the G fam! :D
@Rolilasx

Yes, it is a revup engine (2007 g35), and it has both the mrev2 & spacer. The car does not have a tune, but after I get it I intend to put on a lighter flywheel and get it tuned, it should be great! Especially considering that my current car is a 7th gen Celica xD

@AnthonyJ350

Travis Anderson Revup debuted on the 2005 Anniversary and was on manual 2006 350Zs. It had more power because it was equipped with variable valve timing on intake and exhaust. Regular DEs only have variable timing on intake.

what about splicing the coolant line and installing a valve to cut off the fluid flow under the throttle body? it would reduce the running temperature and in cold weather you can open the valve up and allow it to warm the throttle body.
@AnthonyJ350

@MotordyneG35 7 лет назад
After reviewing your exhaust, it is not a true dual exhaust. It is just a single exit, 3" exhaust. I'm curious on your gains also, but I'm guessing not more than 25whp. I had a true dual 2.5 inch Invidia Gemini and only got 24whp with test pipes on the dyno, rev-up motor too. Mods were: - Motordyne MREV2, - Motordyne 5/16th spacer - Long tube Injen CAI - Resonated test pipes - Invidia Gemini exhaust Once Motordyne ART pipes and Motordyne Shockwave, did I get up to 37whp/45wtq. The Shockwave is a true dual 3 inch exhaust. The MREV2 with 5/16th spacer will give you that wtq number in the 30's, the Motordyne Art pipes will get you up to the in the 40's for wtq. Good luck, I'm sure I will see the upload. Final mods: - KW v3 Coilovers - Injen CAI - NWP 75mm throttle body - Motordyne MREV2 - Motordyne 5/16th spacer - Motordyne v3 ART pipes - Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust.

Motordyne G35 With the amount of power these cars produce, 3 inch single will still flow fine. I guess we'll see what it will do. Did you change your bushings in your diff carrier and transmission. Did you notice I focus on driver interaction? I just want the car to drive well, not too concerned about telling eveyone I see my dyno numbers (it's not that powerful of a car). I have a project truck with a custom built small block for horsepower that I'm tinkering with for that.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 7 лет назад
Motordyne G35 Another note, your comment made me remember. I watched an episode of Ignition on Netflex. The Nismo GTR is single exhaust. It goes from 2 to 1 long pipe the has a Y at the end. That car makes more power than our cars ever will. And yes I know it's a forced induction application, with titanium exhaust and it has heat sinks to cool the exhaust.
@MotordyneG35
@MotordyneG35 7 лет назад
Exhaust size does not matter when you can just turn the boost up or you have boost to begin with. On a NA application like yours, it does matter. Only 25whp gains, I'm positive and you will see for yourself soon. Yes, I changed my diff bushings and rebuilt my diff when I had it out, also added the Nismo cover which is like a heat sink with fins to cool the diff, plus it adds an extra quart capacity.

Space 671 I would do the ISO thermal gasket kit with the plenum spacer from Motordyne (less money same amount of work though, helps prevent heat soaking) and do test pipes with Motordyne's XYZ Pipe with the high flow cat. I'm also a fan of the stock 2006 intake because it's serviceable and has a built in velocity stack.

Space 671 In theory yes. But the gain increases wouldn't be as big as the REVUP. The MREV2 is a reworked lower plenum from the standard DE so air moves better in key areas which they keep secret.

ssmoly The MREV2 is a modified lower plenum from the regular DE motors. It will flow better than the stock one cause it's modified. But the REVUP really benefits from it the most.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 7 лет назад
ssmoly If you don't have a REVUP your best value is the Iso thermal upgrade with the 5/16 spacer from Motordyne.

Anthony, I have a problem....after I installed my mrev2 and 5/16 spacer my engine light turned on?..I disconnected the battery...pumped the brakes...comes back on? Another thing I turned on my car and it breaths wierd ...feels and sounds like the car wants to turn off...I tried the pedal dance routine...still acts the same?
@AnthonyJ350

Try the procedure again like this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tQm28K32SQ.html also double check for any vacuum leaks.

Planning on purchasing the mrev2 and plenum spacer. Is it okay to drive the car without a tune? Im driving cross country in a month.

Daddy Edrix Minimum you want to do an ECU reset ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5tQm28K32SQ.html. It is best for the car to do an UPRev tune on the dyno to make Sure everything is working properly.
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 6 лет назад
Daddy Edrix Also make sure you do an oil change before and right after your trip. Also possibly in the middle depending how many miles you put on.

AnthonyJ350 i dont wnna get tuned before i drive to cali (live in ny rn) cuz i only have an exhaust and an intake. Still waiting for more bolt ons, just wnted to make sure the engine will be okay with the mrev2 and spacer without a tune

AnthonyJ350 thanks brother. I also left a comment on one of ur other videos, when u got dyno tuned,i know you get tuned to see how much whp ur cars making and to get the most out ur mods. But for the maps, do the tuners make the maps for u? Or do u tell them what u want?

Are mrev2 carb legal?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 4 года назад
You would have to contact Motordyne directly on that. Mine did not have a CARB compliant sticker. However it does not modify the emission system at all, you are simply providing more air to the 2 front cylinders which are being restricted, that's where the power increase is coming from.

I'm thinking that's what I want when I'm bored with the car. Rebuild the motor with lower compression, beef it up and just run 5 lbs of boost. I want 400HP reliable.

bro, i have a 2005 350z and its automatic and i don't know if got the rev up or non rev up? i'm not sure if i got the rev up one,
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 6 лет назад
Automatics are regular DE (NON REVUp). If you look at the front of the engine you'll only see one housing per side for the variable valve timing for the cam while a REVUp has two per side. REVUp was made only available for manual transmissions.

AnthonyJ350 I like going fast so do I still need to buy the thermal with spacer from motordyne.?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 6 лет назад
If you like going fast, then you'll want to maintain power and not heat up the intake plenum, so yes, buy the ISO Thermal kit.

Really ? Do you think about the investment that a youtuber makes to do videos ? Thats the least you could do, watch that damn comercial and maybe even click on it just to help the person that uploaded the video. Show some grace, especially if you like the content.
