MotorGuide trolling motor arrow keep moving?

Have you had to take your cover off to re-align your arrow more than once? Or twice? Let me show you what the problem may be and how to fix it! It's only one or two more screws that you'll have to mess with and will likely be the last time you have to do anything to it.

Be aware, the top screw is loose (on purpose) so the gear disengages the other one and doesn't break off gear teeth if you turn your arrow to realign it without taking the cover off. This is a good tip and video but BE WARNED If you tighten these screws down , NEVER turn your arrow (while fastened to the TM) to realign it if it gets out of whack. You WILL break the gear teeth off.

Great info... I didn't know there was a purpose in it being lose to begin with. I just know that since I have adjusted the bell and tightened the screws, it has worked flawlessly. Thanks for letting me and the other viewers know this information!

It actually is an easy fix, but when I had this problem last year and I started doing research on it, I found a dozen videos telling me about how to remove the cover/re-align the arrow, but I didn't find ANY that mentioned anything about what to do if it keeps happening. (Which is what was happening to me) Thanks for tuning in Jake... I appreciate your enthusiasm and your support always.

I just bought a boat with motorguide troller, when i take my foot off the controller the trolling motor spins around and faces backwards. Is this normal? it seems like it should stay locked in place instead of swiveling back and forth. Thanks

It's normal with all brands that are cable drive and will drive you nuts trying to troll and cast because you can't take your foot off the pedal. There are motor clamps you can buy for about $30 or cut an 11/2" fernco and wrap it around the shaft to put friction on it.

I need a MotorGuide Pro Series 54 Lb thrust Steering Cable. Mine snapped. Ill be happy with the whole Wiring harness from foot peddle to Motor. Any help from anyone??

Ok... I just finished rewiring my 70lb motor guide a few minutes ago. Red lead from the head unit to the foot control was swelled up so I just replaced both red n black with 8 gauge... Now I've gotta figure out Mounting it to my Colorado Pontoon. Purchased it without the transm bracket for $20😁😂. Today's Technology Rocks! I appreciate your contribution to this project brother... Nakia
