When I was a kid and soda cans and beer cans were really thick people would use them for mufflers when they were in a pinch . Great vid Mr . McGuyver .
I thought this video was excellent Steve. I am loving your McGuyver attitude. Toilet bowl flow regulator boost bottle shut off valve? Ingenious. Nice job keep em coming!
Dude I've watched ur video 3 times, just to make sure I havnt missed one frame of your genius, you just reinforced the need for a lot of stuff I was considering doing to my bike
Awesome video never saw the motor mount tensioner before I'll definitely be trying that out! Been riding fine with no tensioner at all but I will add one on my rebuild.
Good job man. Looks neat. I have the offset intake without a boost bottle. Mines a mountain bike, and Ive gone through about 6 rims. I actually use a sprocket adaptor now. I bought a heavy duty 12g spoke tire that is pretty heavy, but sturdy. I recommend a sprocket adaptor if you havent already put one on.
Nice tips. I'm gonna make my friend one of those air filters. He's been running for months without one due to clearance issues with the frame. Thanks for the knowledge. :)
Springing tensioner was neat. I was struggling with different ideas. This could work for me. 2 different tensioners already got into spokes. Now wheel needs to be changed, because mangled spokes. A kickstart is also kinda must, especially in cold days.
Thanks those were some awesome tips. Im sure you have used your outside the box views in other areas of your life good job. I will use some of these tips on my bike. Thanks again make more videos.
Very cool thanks allot dude, broke both chains today one right after the other, managed to get the motor chain back on but not sure why it happened, was carrying quite a bit of weight in my back pack about 25 litres of fuel
Love the idea of two in one brake. When I want to stop Oh Gosh I have to go through a procedure !!! LOL. I have to secure the clutch first then push down the brakes.
Not trying to be a dick but you do realize you are supposed to depress the clutch in when comming to a stop right? Regardless of a dual action brake lever or not you still have to depress the clutch or you will burn through clutches like no tommorow from just casually riding, its okay to brake the motor like that with the clutch at times but is never good to do everytime, puts extreme unneeded wear on your clutch pads
Feel that makes sense.....i just build these , ride them a week or two while i have them listed for sale but that definetly makes a lot of sense just like using up brake pads easily u can wear the fuck out of your clutch pads too
@@TheNiibz exactly its no different than a dirtbike, you cant come to a complete stop without stalling and burning the clutch without pulling it in, let alone to take back off, i build and sell them too but i ride them alot aswell so i have alot of experience on the building side plus the actual field side, common riding issues and things like that. I can tell you these clutches can normally take a beating for the most part but its still like anything else, you abuse the piss out of it, eventually its gunna abuse you back and idk bout anyone else but when im wide open pushin 40 id prefer not to get launched over my bars from the clutch plate locking up and binding the rear tire, nty haha
My clutch never worked. So I have to slow down, hold the kill switch for five secs find the clutch pull it at the right time, then slow down a bit more, Then I am able to kill the engine
If you add some rubber on the stock chain tensioner it doesn't move as much. Plus add some locktite to the bolts or hot glue and the bolts wont come out. My buddy has close to 1000 miles on his bike and the tensioner stays where its supposed to.
It’s bending your rim because the rubber shrinks after a while and gets loose. So then the bolts are just driving the torque right through your spokes. Every little bit re tighten your bolts. After a while the rubber stops shrinking but it happens a lot
Along with the mag wheels actually meant for this. I would also recommend puncture resistant e-bike tires, like Schwalbe Marathons, Slime tire sealant, lockable fuel cap, and maybe a bigger tank.
On the issues with the rim and sprocket assembly. You can buy a sprocket with a hub adapter and that will fix your rim problems. But you can buy aluminum rims that's what I'm working with... God bless my fellow bike brother
These are all great tips. A tip about that back sprocket is: take the dust cover off the bearings, put the sprocket on (it will center up perfectly and snug), and DON'T use the outermost rubber, but DO use the inner rubber pieces -- this pulls the hub of the sprocket directly into contact with the hub of the spokes [metal-on-metal, essentially friction drive from sprocket-to-spoke hub; NOT cranking the back wheel directly by the spokes, but rather using the spokes as a "brace" to pull the sprocket inward against the spoke hub, and a fraction of tension (half??) directly on the spokes].
@The Colony Room - Private Drinking Club I mean don't use the rubber between the sprocket and spokes, and do use the rubber on the inside of the spokes (technically "inside the hub" is the coaster brake, but yes). So if you were looking at it from behind, I only used the "inner" or "right" rubber pieces (and 3 metal semi-circle brackets of course). The bike I used is a 26" Huffy Cranbrook. I have aftermarket wheels, still 26" but with heavy duty 10 gauge spokes, and I did it this same way when I transferred the sprocket over. It has worked well for me. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll help if I can!
Took me 5 minutes to find a double brake handle like yours on Amazon thanks for the great tips would love to watch you build your muffler from scratch or just take it apart and put it back together again. I am about to start burning 100% octane Aviation fuel in mine I'm anxious to see results
Brian S are you talking about removing the ethanol out of your fuel I remove the ethanol out of my fuel with water I know that sounds crazy but it does work there's plenty RU-vid videos about it
I just got my 80cc kit Wedsday. Bought new bike Friday then was gonna pull it all together Saturday. But family member got sick and it don't seen right to have fun while they sick. So atlast I'll have to wait
Nice video it was helpful. I install a high performance (HP) crab and used an intake manifold that is angled to the outside. They also make CNC machined sprocket that mounts differently but I'm not sure if it will help your bent spoke problem. I have an old beach cruiser that I rebuilt and added a motor. I haven't had a bent spoke problem. I've seen that spring loaded tenstioner you used sold on eBay, it's a good design. I've been thinking about making my own using a similar design concept that mounts to the inside of the cover. I'm still working out the details.
hey man i have had my bike for a year now and i was just wondering what the big can on the exhaust is and if there is any way to make the bike quieter and lower sounding (bassy) love the vid thanks.
Get a smooth sided high flange rear hub- Flip Flops are often like that and drill right through the hub- you need a sprock with the inner inner 8 disk brake drillings- these were easier to get a few years back before everyone started getting "top hat style" adapters and sprocks. You can then bolt the sprock directly to the hub- which gives a better chain line too usually- you can use shorter titanium bolts and save all kinds of weight.- and the sprock no longer even touches the spokes. and I recommend a 415 INDUSTRIAL TRIKE chain- same 415 size with shorter plates- it weighs less than half the 415 weight and rolls much smoother.
Your air filter is a fine design, the only issue is the surface area of the filter is small so it'll get dirty quicker, that's the only reason why we do like pod filters yours actually breaths better, than any other filter
The best way of keeping up on speed is. If u r moving slower than normal u can fix the stator on the bike or replace the decributor for timing cause of over use n
Almost finished with my motor bike. I'll look into boost bottle info. Also, I actually have a Nos can on my exhaust tip of my car. Just for looks. Thought its funny.
I suggest turning your boost bottle the other way around to take better advantage of the shape also remove the acorn head nuts and use couplers. Then make an aluminum cover to direct more air across the head for better cooling.
He's using a "regular" 36 INCH gear, that is one hell of a big sprocket!!!! Lol. I bet he could do wheelies for miles and miles!!! LMFAO/ROFL. (GOOD video and GREAT advice btw, keep em coming! Thumbs up!
These are really impressive solutions, what i did though for the air intake (stock didn’t fit my frame as well) i used a cap of a lysol bottle, cut out a portion of the top, screwed it in with a stack of washers on it and stuck a cut piece of fuel cell foam as my air filter into it, it works great and definitely improved the power i wouldve made stock
That's an awesome air filter idea! Mine fit stock, but I made something similar (though don't use now, but still have it) with a peanut butter jar including lid. I made 2 mounting holes and a large intake hole in the lid, cut out the middle portion of the plastic jar and sealed the top and bottom jar pieces together, stuck foam inside, and used an awl or nail or something to punch hundreds of tiny holes (this took the longest lol). So, you have to mount the lid first by screwing it in from the inside with those 2 long screws that come with the stock filter, then you twist the shortened peanut butter jar onto it. But nowadays I use the stock filter with holes drilled into it. This was just something I got creative about.
Never used a tensioner in ten years and several builds- saves all kinds of weight and failure- you can tension the pedal side with a derailleur or the new 1/8 chain lightweight tensions (ebay-China) and then just set the motor chain tight, or you can match the chains with half links if necessary, but the motor chain usually stretches more than the pedal chain over time- so you might have to adjust the matching every few years.
Your rear cassette looked rusty please oil it and use it to wear the rust off! Also try and get some sort of air filter. You can get an intake that angles to the side to give you more room. Dust n dirt is an engine's enemy! Also a rear sprocket/hub adaptor will keep you from having to change rims, keep you from bending spokes! Cool build bro!
Thank you, nice video, bought me a bike, a 2018 Specialized Alibi at the pawn shop for $100, truck broke and gave up on it, car parts have arrived but still need to put them on and pay for title, registration, plates and insurance but this bike is a money making machine for me, they always have been. I want to put a motor on there and I'm about 219 pounds, any suggestions?
Ironically you bought the double brake handlebar from the same person we did wouldn't trade them for anything in this world they are a great life saver
1:15 Just a safety concern. The rear axle looks like it is hanging on the frame- I don’t know what the term is--where the rear axle bolts on the frame. It just looks like it is going to come off once you go WOT on the throttle. I would add a couple of 415 chain links on the motor side if it was my bike. Just to be safe.
i just used a lid from a big medicine bottle cap and made a air filter all i had to cut the ears off the inner piece but to bolt holes with a automatic punch
That is a screen for the drain the rubber housing is from the original air filter would you usually buy those drain screens at the dollar store 3 for a buck three different sizes
My suggestion is get rid of the bracket that bolts to your spokes and get the one that bolts around your hug instead that will give better support and not put strain on leather spokes
I have worn out two of these , but the cops have jumped all over these and now you will end up with $900 worth of fines I have my latest one now, but I don’t ride it much anymore, I made my own chain tensioner from a photo of a real one. I went the other way as to gearing though, I went from a 50 tooth to a 56 tooth sprocket on the back it’s so much fun As to you going to a alloy wheel, don’t , get one of those sprocket kits that go through the spokes and clamps onto the hub Have fun!
