I kinda like the combiner parts being on the front of the trailer, reminds me of those big refrigeration units I'd see slapped onto the front of trailers. Especially with all the little vent like details on Menasor's chest piece.
A month or two ago Big W finally got Legacy figures in stock in my town right in time for their yearly toy sale and when I got it home and unboxed it, it was significantly yellowed. But not only that, one of the wheel assemblies on the trailer was *horrifically* bent. So I went back to the shop to get a replacement and thankfully this time I opened it in store but it had even worse yellowing and the *exact* same damage to the *exact* same wheel assembly. Also, isn't that just LOVELY to know that literally EVERY SINGLE batch that got sent here to Australia has yellowing right out of the box, isn't that just FANTASTIC?
Hey, for those who got bad batches of Motormaster, the best method for dealing with the yellowing is as follows!: -Take the lid of a completely translucent bin and pour in a layer of hydrogen peroxide -Place a smaller lid in the middle of the bin lid, which you will set the figure on. Make sure the figure has no contact with the hydrogen peroxide -Place on the translucent larger bin on top, and let it sit in the sun. This method deals with the yellowing and does not make contact with the figure, meaning that the paint & stickers are left in tact, and the plastic is not weakened. It also requires no disassembly!
I gotta disagree. The incomplete purple stripe on the side, I didn’t notice that. Fair point. But to me, this is toy of the year! It’s so much fun, and engineering is incredible. The design is so cool, but I also adore parts forming. More pieces means more toy pieces to play with.
I just got my copy a few days ago and honestly this dude is definitely top-five figure of the year material. I already love the design and transformation of Motormaster alone but I can tell Menasor is going to be amazing! Hopefully this leads to updates on some other combiners
@@figment616 He’s amazing and asked for the gun tourette section are use the gray piece that forms part of the trailer as sort of a jet pack like Buzz Lightyear.
My pre-order is FINALLY supposed to arrive in a few weeks, so I’m really excited for that. I love everything I’ve seen, Motormaster himself looks fantastic, but Menasor is the main thing for me.
I went all in on the xtransbots set, but got scared off from the trailer's price. This legacy menasor just fills that menasor shaped void in my heart ❤️
Just got mine and I love him. Transformation is fun, well balanced complexity. It's not perfect....but I love how hasbro is trying. And menasor was always a weird combiner, so I understand the choices. Not perfect, but if you are a chug collector, this dude is awesome. I'm a fan of third party, but I'm not a consumer of them.
in my opinion,the legacy menasor is overall great,but i really hate how they did motormaster so quickly,especially with this new weird combiner gimmick,its like in the g1 cartoon were menasor is just wearing the limbs،and his size is the same size as siege jetfire,which is honestly really annoying in my opinion,especially consdering how big the combiners are
Well would you want to pay titan class and be around the same size as combiner wars devastator even though he is considerably smaller then devastator in the cartoon
With the issues you have with him I haven't had with my copy. No chipping. No yellowing. Everything rolls well and it feels fine to me plastic wise. Though I am a shitter when it comes to when things feel bad or good. Plus I don't have any issue with him standing
@@Dylan_Cito so far so good. It was the earlier shipments that had the yellowing issue so I think I got a later one. Though I've been careful and kept him away from sunlight and keep my room dark. Only yellowing transformer I've had is tigatron
Imo this guy is very worth it because MotorMaster on his own is a voyager and then he has his trailer which does so many things and when transformed it becomes a commander sized figure and the trailer does all that with only being priced at 50ish dollars
I personally put the turret stand onto the back with the trailer peg fitting into the cabs trailer hole in the back, to kinda give him trailer wings, it's not the best but it's enough to cop with till an upgrade kit fixes that lol
Another concern I have with this guy is the height in combined mode. Motor master was shown to tower other transformers, yet here he's the same height as siege jetfire. I know g1 is wonky in height but I feel they should have bulked up his height a bit more. Just my opinion tho, hopefully if the do devastator again he'll be much bigger
This times 1000%. I didn’t get into collecting until Siege/Earthrise, but the two older combiners that I picked up were CW Devastator (who matches perfectly with Siege Omega Supreme) and PoTP Predaking. Jetfire is supposed to be smaller than the combiners (which he IS when compared to CW Devy and Predaking), but when this new Legacy Motormaster is placed alongside these bigger “Titan Class” figures, he looks comically small. Don’t get me wrong… he’s very well engineered and poses very well, but the scale in combined mode is simply too small for my tastes. Hopefully some 3rd party can figure out a way to add an extra 3-inches of height while still keeping the proper proportions (hell… I’ll even accept partsforming to pull it off). We’ll see…
You can hang the gun tower off Menasor's back, actually. There's no tabs to hold it or anything, but put it back in the U shape as it attaches to the trailer mode and hung it upside down by hooking the parts that are the tower-mode's side feet onto the tops of his shoulders and it'll stay well enough for standing in a display, and his heel plates are already long enough that it won't take any more space. It makes the blocks on top of his shoulders that much bigger but doesn't affect the outline much otherwise, and you can finagle the big gun on to fill out his left upper arm a bit until that guy is released as well. That works better if you put one of Drag Strip's pistols in the port on the front of that arm and spread the big gun's handle on the front side a bit to rest against it while the back side handle plus into the port at the very top rear of the upper arm, and isn} super secure even then, but again it stays well enough to stand on your shelf while waiting for the rest of the team to arrive. Once these guys are done, I'm really hoping for a Seacons or Technobots update. Realistically the Combaticons need one the most because the last couple Bruticuses we got SUCKED, while the others were just typical CW with the typical CW issues and 3p Devastators abound. The Texhnobots and Seacons were the teams I really liked, though, and since they seem to have moved on to Headmasters and Masterforce characters some renewed or just mainline rereleased Seacons would fit right in. I could also go for an all-new combiner team to be introduced in EarthSpark, though I severely doubt they'll try anything so radical - it's been pretty much just reinterpretations of the same core cast on either side ever since the bayformer movies hit, occasionally a sprinkle of g1 reinterpetations, and the only real new ones to show up being one-ep-wonders from RiD15 and Cyberverse who only occasionally got an actual toy, and even then most are just obscure, sometimes toy-only or comics-only characters probably used more to preserve the trademarks than anything.
12:54 I'm pretty hyped for this but, I don't think you can really say it's that incomplete, all the other cars are gonna do is bulk out the combiner mode a bit, and some color the trailer has all the joint/posing/etc so we know what that's like, really not a fan of faux ratchets in the leg joints btw
Imma keep it a buck with you Chief, I don’t care about this level of minor yellowing. If a figure is balling, I’m balling with it. Appreciate the figure for what it is, then MAYBE think about what it could be. That being said, great video! Keep up the good work!
Also I will not defend the turret going nowhere. I see why they did it, as they already had the full body completed, and didn’t want to mess with the look, but they could have made another configuration for it when in Menesor mode. Though I do appreciate the overall effort. Good job Hasbro.
I only encountered the undeliverable issue once for Motormaster, as well as the Wreckers Leadfoot and Masterdominus, but did get both. What bugs me is after the second failed, I got an email from Amazon suggesting Amazon drop locations, as if they knocked on my door without even entering the city.
Great video! With everyone saying that the new legacy motor master was great I was thinking about getting it but I didn't know for sure, so I'm glad you made this video.
An amazing figure the only problem that I have is with the balance of the figure my copy of the figure motor master fall at the back every time I try to make him stand straight but overall he’s alright
with motormaster being one of my fan fvourite decepticons,i'm really glad that his legacy toy turns out to be great,its a well designed and great engineering toy,and i honestly love that vehicule mod,i do wish if other heavy combiner team leaders like hot spot or onslught can get the same unique features as motormaster,and i have to say,i really hope for a new thunderclash out of this mold
I think it would make more sense to do Thunderclash from the Laser Prime mold because that would be more affordable. They also might be able to retool the front so it's a flat nosed cab like on the original.
Something worth noting on the topic of Combiner Wars compatibility: They actually designed it so that if you have the Perfect Effect CW Menasor upgrade the replacement feet included with it are actually *perfectly* sized to match the legs on the actual figure, so for example if you wanted a TFP Breakdown, and you have the Unite Warriors Grand Galvatron as well as that upgrade you could replace the right leg with that figure
I love that the wrists have ratchets, I have tons of figures who's hands won't hold a pose if the item their holding is too heavy so I think this is a huge plus
I had this figure but I also had 5 Motormaster’s in total (BW, Legacy, X-Transbots, FansProject, and TransformMission), I’ve now gone down to my one favourite Stunticon set which is the BW one; which really helps as it fits into the G1 Legends collection I’m going for. Plus I hate that this guy only was one sword it looks pitiful in Menasor’s hands
I'm excited to see how the whole thing looks. I agree the knee pads look big but hey, we'll see how it all feels when it's done. I really just wish his sword was bigger or had a way to extend. It's plenty big for Motormaster, but way too small for Menasor.
Ugh. Another person that does not know the purple stripe on the trailer is broken as part of the design. The stripe is broken in the G1 cartoon. It has nothing to do with the plastic!
I’ve had this guy for a couple weeks now and overall I like him a lot. My gripes are I think menasor is to short in the thighs, sword is not long enough,trailer wheels as you said and not making total use of the parts for combine mode. Looks wise he’s the 21st century g1 inspired menasor I wanted. Yes price is a bit much for what you get. Especially when he takes up half the box he comes in! One thing to note is you can’t put dragstrip on the other arm without trimming or modifying. That was a surprise. Good review
I really like the design of this motormaster, especially the legs, yes the thighs are skinny but the entire lower leg including the knee-pad I absolutely love. THis figure looks amazing, I really wish it was like half the price because it seems way to expensive especially if you live outside the US like myself or many others. The price is really the only thing preventing me and probably many others from getting this cool looking figure.
Gotta sorta disagree about the Rodimus thing. Rodimus feels so premium because his trailer had to do almost nothing, he pretty much got the bulk of the engineering and budget while the trailer was just boring. Motormaster doesn’t feel as premium as hotrod but he feels just as good if not a bit better then most the mainline voyagers we get. I also think the combined mode is the way to do combiners going forward, it’s so solid and for me makes it feels much more worth the commander price. This is probably my second favorite of the commanders and I can’t wait to see what combiners they do next.
Same don't know why there's so much complaints about the parts forming\slap on combiners it's accurate to the cartoon, would they prefer the cw way? A disproportionately body and long limbs or pay outraged prices like 3rd parties for that type of engineering. Plus it's less messier this way and parts left over you know how Hasbro loves those.
This combiner is AMAZING! I'm canadian and I bought each part separately and the box with all five. It is an engineering marvel! It's solid, fun and is paving the way for 2025 combiners! aerialbots, constructicons and combaticons! Can't wait!! Hope they are as good as the stunticons!
Mine has discolouring on one closing section on the left leg, & the hinges for the trailers back wheels are a little loose. Other than that, grat figure. Very Happy with Motormaster. Also got Dragstrip. AUD $159, but i got mine on sale like the previous 3 Commanders. Still recommend getting one.
I work at Walmart in Western New York and we have trailers filled with overstock sitting in the parking lot. And we've had multiple days that hit 90° F, so that's not exactly climate controlled.
Hey That Toy Guy! Great content btw love your vids man! Little history lesson here, Motormaster’s truck mode is based off a k100 aerodyne kenworth semi truck, 70’s model. Those trucks were slightly larger than what Optimus was based after, which was a mix between a freightliner FLT 80’s model cabover and a peterbilt 362 cabover 80’s model. Also, the “bed” is called the frame or, if you want to go old school with it, it’s nickname is “cat walk”. The trailer I agree is short but oh well cannot wait to get my hands on my own copy. Why is it that every Transformer that needs a long trailer gets a short trailer. But Rodimus, who should have a short trailer, gets by far the longest trailer of anyone.
I, am not a critic. I love all the stunticons. I'm a little ticked that dragstrip and dead end break in half for the arms, but I can get over it. As long as they are fun, I'm happy.
For what it is, I love this guy!! I can't wait for the redo of the other combiners!! My Wild Rider will be shipped soon & will finally have a complete Mensor!
In Korea hasbro korea took preorders for dragstrip and wild rider but not motormaster yet. I am going to be so angry if they dont even bring motormaster to Korea
As a fellow Canadian, I don't know if I can pay that price for a single figure. While I'll collect the cars, I may have to wait to pick up Motormaster at TFcon 2023 as part of a deal or something.
They need to address wheels on the trailer, mine does that as well, definitely need a third party sword, and Motor master hands seems to be thin , like Galvatron, once you see it , you can't unsee it
Managed to grab Motormaster for AUD $160 from Big W day 1 of the release - like literally happened to walk past a Big W staff member as he was opening the box - MotorMaster never even made it offically onto the shelf!! :D
i found a way for the parts that are left over from minosaur take the turret and put it on the peg on his arm should look like he's holding it as a gun. then spit the tower to the white center peg, which pegs into minosaur's back center peg hole if u did it right it looks like wings or a jet pack
Good review I liked it, but just to correct you really quick, the designer for this Is Darius George, 1 of my good friends, he worked on Skylynx and Rodimus, Motormaster and also had his hands in the Gi Joe classified line, he designed Dr mindbender and Serpentor that's coming out this month, unfortunately he passed away about 2 weeks ago. Sad all the way around . Hasbro lost a great designer and I lost 1 of my good friends. So shout out to Darius George for making this Motormaster.
It's a great figure, I got red cog because of the extra weapons and give Motormaster the shotgun it looks really good. The problem with the stunticons is that they are going to look really good in all 3 modes. Robot, vehicle and combined mode. Now to wait for DNA to give us a proper sword and rifle for menasor.
I didn't like how Motormaster feels in hand either, but the feel of the combined mode does feel premium. I'm gonna cut the knee tabs so the legs can be turned around and mod the tower to become a massive cannon, which should have been done anyway.
This thing should have been Titan class scale. I will die on this hill defending that statement. The plastic used for the turret could have beefed up the trailer for it to be tall enough, and the box it comes in sure asf is big enough. Plus CW/UW Menasor already that scale, should start making all the combiners the same size as UW Devastator & PotP Predaking.
I'd have to say that with this release, Hasbro has met EXACTLY my expectations for a Legacy Menasor. No more, no less. I do have some nitpicks for this figure, those being the trailer being too short (tho it looks kinda cute so I'll forgive that), MM's body shape being not my type, and Menasor's shins being a bit too bulky than what i want it to be, but I think the most important part to me is that THIS Menasor is the Menasor I wanted and asked for, so I have no complaints.
I think parts are changing colors on my siege Springer and kingdom Cyclonus. Does it get hot in their boxes? Even though I have mine in an air conditioned room?
My copy has a really loose connection, the upper torso pegs that connect to the front chest plate/legs portion in Menasor mode fall out really easy. Any fixes?
My Motormaster arrived Sunday I went out and found a wild Rider Sunday so I have three out of five he looks good can't wait until dead end and break down hit the stores
I feel you could do videos or shorts about the plastics on tf toys why polyurethane is unpaintable or other issues like transclear plastic, something like that
Might look lazy, but it looks unique in comparison to the other G1 combiners who's arms are the vehicles with hands on it. He might be the least liked combiner, but atleast he's different from the others combining wise.
I missed out on the combiner wars Menasaur so I’m happy with the figure. Just wish he came with the other combiners as a set or at least release all of them at the same time
You know I don't really like legacy that much but when I saw the characters in the line of legacy I was like okay I'll probably pick it up because I now see knockout and I know she bulkhead and all the other figures I know I'm starting to change my opinion on legacy and how I didn't like it at first but now I love it because the designs are awesome modern Master looks badass!!
