I have had both phones and both are great. But seriously, the Turbo is the better phone. The battery life is insane and the Motorola features are awesome. However ultimately I sold both and went back to my M8. The Turbo was incredibly heavy, heavier than the Note 4. Also the capacitive buttons are a bit antiquated. And the nylon backing was cool at first and then it just felt weird.

Great review as usual. You try to be so fair, but the truth of it is, that the note 4 really is the best phone of 2014, and maybe 2015 as well. Droid turbo can't compare. The turbo is a great phone for those who want a plain Jane Android kind of phone. But if you want a true multi-purpose computer in your pocket with the best display, great camera, replaceable battery and SD card expansion, there is no other phone but the note 4. I see that you're wearing your Samsung gear s watch. I just got mine as well and love it. I think there are several good watches out on the market these days but the gear s seems to have a great tizan format that plays beautifully with a note 4. In fact they even look the same. At this point I'm still not impressed with Google Android wear, especially on round watches, but I'm sure it will get better as time passes. Can't wait for your review on the Gear S.

Who does this Lisa lady think she is. She must work for Samsung because their is no way the Note 4 is better than the Droid Turbo. Expecially at 5:06 why would she point that out. Then all that talk about the camera on the turbo having a slow shutter speed and not so great photos with in door light. I wonder how much Samsung is paying her... Joking. Lisa always does a great job doing reviews. Her reviews are always helpful honest and clear cut. Thanks to Lisa and her reviews in the past I have avoided devices that would have made me upset had i purchased it. I always like share and subscribe to her channel you should too for more great tech reviews.

What a dumb comment. You obviously haven't watched many of Lisa's videos. She really doesn't show bias, concentrating on how she finds the devices in general. If anyone knows how to review a device without all that over the top brashness and brand allegiance, it's our Lisa.

Muscle Mike hahaha the turbo is a great device. No TouchWiz jank. I have the Note 4 and Droid Mini and the Droid Mini isn't as powerful/fast but it's smoother than the Note 4 if that makes any sense. The Droid Turbo having the same chip as the note makes it both faster and smoother than the Note 4. It's and give and take

MobileTechReview please note that the note 4 can activate Google now with a hotword command of "ok google" when the screen is off and phone locked similiar to the turbo. I have the AT&T note 4 and use this feature all the time. You have to enable it in Google now settings. The ability to activate Google now from a locked phone with the screen off isn't unique to the turbo.

Right on! Eventually they're going to have to give us the ability to customize our voice commands so that were not setting off all of the phones around us!

Bigger is not always better. The Droid fits nicely in my pocket, I don't know if the Samsung will. While the Samsung might have some nice features the Droid doesn't have, Samsung has more bloatware than the Droid as Samsung likes to create their own apps instead of using Google's. Also, the Droid is quicker to get Android updates than Samsung. So, if you don't need those extra Samsung features, go with the Droid - it's a great Android phone

Very good review ...would just like to point out ✌ things. ⚀ Google makes it possible for you to wake the Samsung phone with the "ok Google now" command. In settings go to Language and Input, select voice search , select OK Google now detection. ⚁ Samsung allows you to wake the phone by passing your hand over the sensor to the top right of the 📱. In settings select accessibility, then select dexterity and interaction, then select Air Wake Up.

@eatnosenuggets
@eatnosenuggets 10 лет назад
Nikolas Hajiantonis Interesting you say that as the dozens of reviews show that the Turbo can actually do things. In fact, it does them with an extremely stock like version of android.
@nkolas11hajiantonis
@nkolas11hajiantonis 10 лет назад
eatnosenuggets That's my point, I've never liked the stock version. TouchWiz may rarely lag (as they say, I've never noticed any) but I'm willing to sacrifice the smoothness for an experience with a lot more features. Some people may be annoyed by TouchWiz, I personally love it's features.
@eatnosenuggets
@eatnosenuggets 10 лет назад
Nikolas Hajiantonis So the fact that you think Touchwiz is amazing is the reason you think the Turbo "can do absolutely nothing"??
@nkolas11hajiantonis
@nkolas11hajiantonis 10 лет назад
eatnosenuggets Well, "can do absolutely nothing" is too strong, it's more suitable to say that it has less features. I shouldn't have said that it does absolutely nothing.

I've just picked up a Note 4 but would love a Droid Turbo Ballistic 64GB(Maxx) with their tough case for when I'm cycling. Nice compact size with the rounded back. Put my Note in a Samsung flip top case. Don't use Touchwiz - installed Action Pro Launcher. Health Suite useful though the Gear S won't be released here in Australia until early December. Overall a big improvement on my Note 2.

I love the small things on my note 4 like when I am on the phone and screen goes dark after a min or so. Soon as I bring the phone down the phone s screen lights up again. Useful when during calls u have to go back in the phone to get some info. And no its not the same thing as "smart stay" I have that disabled.

Yes, I know you caveat the review a number of times by saying 'If you like the form factor......etc...', but let's all be honest; these 2 phones are not in the same 'category'. One is a phablet, and one is a normal size phone. Someone who is looking for a more usable 'normal' phone would NEVER choose the Note 4 no matter what software or specs it has. All of the Turbo bashers in these comments are obviously people that are fine with using such a large device. You just have to say that if you are looking for a 'normal' size phone, the Turbo has no equal (currently).

If you like gimmicks or insist on using a 6 inch phone for productivity then the Note is the winner. If you want a smart phone that you use mainly as a smart phone then the DROID wins easily. Smooth operation, long battery life, sensible size screen, rugged, no lag, solid and we'll built, great notification interface, etc. Looking forward to it hitting the UK. I have had a Note 3 but never used the s-pen, it was always easier to use my fingers. I never use multi or split screens, the reason I have a larger phone is to have a larger screen, not to split it into two teeny weeny halves. Removable battery has never been an issue, I suspect for 95% of the population you can easily get a day plus out of most phones. Not a bad big phone but now the market has flooded with larger screens the Note gets lost in the crowd, unless of course you like gimmicks or prefer to do your productivity work on a 6 inch screen!
@Jon-Cameron
@Jon-Cameron 10 лет назад
I owned a Note 3 and was very happy with it, and now I have the Note 4. I can honestly say it is a huge improvement. It is the best phone I have ever owned. No lag, superb camera, stunning screen and build quality. To say the Note 4 is lost in the crowd is insane. It is still the king of large screen devices and hugely popular. (Oh and for the record you keep saying 6" screen, the Note 4 has a 5.7" screen)
@andyH_England
@andyH_England 10 лет назад
Jon-Cameron Bates I have not tried the Note 4 yet, so if as you say it has improved then I stand corrected. I do have the Samsung Tab S 8.4 and I assumed because of its lag that the Note 4 would show those tendencies. I still have my Note 2 and it is so sluggish, nearing unusable as the temptation is to throw it at a brick wall. Two years on tech wise so I suspect the Note 4 won't go that way, though my experiences do cloud my judgement as far as Samsung goes. Enjoy the Note, but Vanilla Android is my much preferred UI, so Nexus 6, Moto X or Droid are my choices for upgrade time in 6 weeks or so.
@Jon-Cameron
@Jon-Cameron 10 лет назад
amfrepo I absolutely agree with you, in that lagging was an issue with early Galaxy phones and TouchWiz was the culprit. I understand how this might have tainted your view on the Note 4. But it seriously is an outstanding phone. I do respect your decision to go with something that suits your needs better though mate, which is why we have those choices on Android :)

You and Yava are not right you have more features like multiple Windows and the pen functions but when come to the ram? You're doing nothing but the ram is already 2.2 out of 2.7 Gb. Results of power performance compare to stock Android, this involve the update time line which will take longer than the Turbo, build quality the Turbo fiberglass body and water repellent it's best The Note 4 a high end phone that come without waterproof it's very bad to much money is involved. Samsung is destroying the experience that Google are giving to people through out his OS. Reviews prove that the Note 4 with Snapdragon 805, GPU Adreno 420 and 3Gb ram perform lower than the Droid Turbo with same specs. In every area but software the note 4 is an absolute beast, one of the best or probably the best phones out there. But the fucking software, my god it's an abomination, and the us carriers lock the bootloader, add that with knox and you have a gigantic piece of shit for software. Don't think I want to ever deal with that crap.
@Jon-Cameron
@Jon-Cameron 10 лет назад
The Note 4 has a much toned down version of TouchWiz. I installed Nova Launcher and it all runs very happy with that. As for carrier bloat... well that's not Samsung's fault. I always buy direct from Samsung or carrier free. I hate carrier bloatware and branding, that includes that awful logo and text on the back of the Note.

the note 4 pen is useless UNLESS you have fat and slow fingers. plus the pen wont keep up even if you write at normal speeds. the pen is just a gimmick imo. also if both phones have similar resolution but the droid has a much bigger battery id expect the note which is even bigger to run out of battery very fast.
