You need to make certain of the pins that need to be jumped, there was a major change made between Maxtrac and some later series radios. If you get it wrong you will let the magic smoke out! The Maxtracs used a set of push-pull transistors in a TO220 package but one of the later series radios went to an IC with an isolated floating audio. Ground either pin and its up in smoke. Don't know is Motorola stocks these audio IC's today and they might be a pain to cross reference if the IC has been relabled with in house numbers for the big M.
if you're new then why are you messing with Maxtracs? I mean things are digital now (DMR, Turbo, P25) the APX, XPR series radios is where you need to be. Not hung up on old dated dos programmed radios that are no longer compliant
Speaker jumpers will be different between the Maxtrac and newer moto radios using th3 same connector. Newer radios use a floating audio that is NOT referenced to ground. You will fry the audio IC in the radio!
I have the radius m120. Thank you for this video. I only need to jump out 15 and 16. Do you have info on how to make cables to program the radio? Also other sites talk about using a dosbox for prorating. Do you have programming info?
I've got the radius GM350 4 channel radio on my bench for the local repeaters and Packet radio, audio out of the front speaker with no jumpers, I've got the RIB and the software but havent got a slow computer with a 9pin Dsub as yet. Will I expect to see audio settings in the software GUI for the speaker once its plugged in?. Eventually I'm expecting to have several of these cheap radios for 70Mhz Low band, 144Mhz High Band and one for UHF. I like the tone of these radios but their ability to get really hot explained that heat sink been so big, even though the SWR is a 1.1:1 match at 20w on a Co-Linier, still thinking about putting a fan in the base the radio sits on. There supposed to be a rubber cap that covers up those du-pont connectors, so if you do the jumper thing, the rubber cap will fit back in place.

ITS BETTER TO HAVE THE CORRECT PLUG TO PROTECT THE EXPOSED PINS, WRONG PINS GET CROSSED WITH A PIECE A METAL YOU CAN DAMAGE THE RADIO, DONT BE CHEAP YOU THE FACTORY PLUG THERE CHEAP

Ignition sense is one option, if radio has emergency ID enabled one needs to jumper the right jumpers so it will not transmit an emergency message. The rest of the jumpers are for external PTT, ext microphone in, cor, and several programmable pins for various other uses. Best found in the programming manual for the RADIO SERVICE SOFTWARE that programs the radio.

You need to get a radio that is in the same band. It does not have to be Motorola but if you are using it commercially (public services included) in the US then the radios MUST be narrow band compliant... Also you can buy programming hardware (RIB and cables) off eBay and get software online if you look for it..
