Thank you very much for the video, it is really very valuable because there is less information on the internet about how to disassembled/repair this Motorola device. Greetings from Colombia.
You the beepin man! I dont like you didn't physically remove the sim tray, I was watching on silent took me a min to figure out why my mobo didn't come out!!! Very difficult but doable repair! Difficult for the noob not cellphone repair man! Thumbs up and i subscribed!
I ended up getting under the screen, but not the assembly. The screen has a cable clear across the bottom. So I ended up ruining my screen (which was working fine), due to torn cable at the bottom. So, make sure you pry out the whole assembly, not just the top screen. Bummer!!
I did the same thing. I wish I had watch another video first that shows and explains much more clearly the depth of the screen assembly. I appreciate the effort of the video but please accept this as constructive feedback so others don't ruin their screens. Take care!
Great video! My battery started to swallow and it end up damaging the LCD, bought two already but when I connect only works the LCD not the digitizer, is there any process to do after connecting the new LCD and the battery?
Where did you find LCDs? The digitizer is known to be easily damaged when replacing the screens and I-Fixit recommends replacing the entire unit, however, they don't say where to get one. Lenovo will replace the plastic screen for free, but not the LCD panels.
@@RinrvUSA you mean the shatterproof one? After ordering already two LCD/Digitizer it seems the phone doesn't have the correct drivers to load the digitizer since the synaptic chip might be different.
Sigh... Got my old battery out. Now neither battery will "click" back to battery connector. I can hold it in place and the device to start, but as soon as I move my finger, it disconnects.
@@Ratteler I am going to be trying to do a battery change on my Z2 Force as soon as I get the new one. Can you recommend or steer me away from any battery options? Is it the connector that is not snapping on? Need to examine it with a high power magnifier and see why it is not going on.
@@BillKinsman I wish I could. It's not like the connectors look any different. I'm going to try the thin double stick tape I got to put the screen back on, strategically placed to keep the connector ribbon from moving after I get a solid connection. Hopefully by the time this battery dies, I'll have a CNC machine that will let me make my own back with an way to use changeable batteries.
Hi, I am interested to know if you notice the type of microphone that's used on top the devices as the 'noise cancellation microphone', wonder what type, and where is the mic pointed at? It's a death-trap by design of you notice, as the mic hole is just next to the sim tray hole, it's so easy to poke into the wrong one. Just trying to gauge the possible damage, as I did on mine.
Not sure exactly which is the GPS but the two plastic pieces which are screwed in on the bottom of the board to the left and to the right of the charger port, those have antenna lines drawn through/built into them. If those are not in place correctly they can cause signal issue. Also I would check the black and white wire cables running on the right side of the phone from bottom to top of the main board.
@@fabiomel.4450 The GPS antenna is a pin attached to the chassis, on the right side of the speaker that is what I investigated in the electrical diagram. In my case the GPS does not work due to lack of a capacitor that the previous technician damaged
Screens you should be able to find on ebay or amazon, as for battery you can get an original one here: www.mobilesentrix.com/replacement-battery-for-moto-z2-force-genuine-oem-hd40-111690
Do you know what would cause no cell reception after disassembly or what to check. WiFi works, just reception that is either out or barely working, no calls
Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement LCD/Screen assembly (preferably whole)? I-Fixit has Z2 Play screens available, but they're lower resolution than the Force ones. My screen was fine, but the battery needed replacing. I took it to a "professional" repair shop in CdA Idaho (across from Costco) and they broke the LCD when removing the screen (obviously amateurs) and told me their supplier didn't offer replacements, nor did they offer me anything else; not even a discount on their refurb phones, no apology, nothing. There are Z2 Play screens available that will fit, but the resolution is only HD, not the 4K which defeats the purpose of a flagship phone vs the economy model.
Greetings, how do I get the flash and the fingerprint reader, since the screen I bought did not bring these last two things, whatever you can help me, I appreciate it.
I was able to resemble and replace the battery and speaker but when it came back the Wifi wasn't working. Any thoughts? I played with the black plastic bottom pieces. It also seems laggy
@@PBKreviews everything looks good as far as connections. How could I tell if a chips is damaged? Is it even fixable? This Z2 Force had a bad battery. The original z2 force I was working on needed a new speaker but when I put everything back the screen wouldn't turn on so I swapped the mother boards.
Amigo !!! Buen video, pero creo que al ensamblar en display dañe el touch y ya no baja la barra de notificaciones ya intenté todo habrá alguna posibilidad de que lo arregle o ya necesito cambiar el diplay ? Todo lo demás jala al 100
Hi, it shouldn't damage the display, I have changed many displays on the moto z2 force back in the day and it worked. Maybe you have a defective display, try a different one see if it will work
i am using 2 nos moto z2 force 1st one is single sim 1 and half years and 2nd one dual sim 2 month age.. i am very hapoy with look.performence and quality. thanks every one
Honestly, I've been a Motorola fan for years. Sadly it came to an end with this device. Had mine for less than 6 mos, and the battery failed. I'm positive it's heat related, as these newer devices have no way of disapating it. My Moto X pure edition actually is still running solid. The X pure was the last device Motorola officially made before the Lenovo/Google merger.
The back of my phone got dented badly. Doesn't seem to affect the performance but it's a huge eyesore. Is it possible to buy and replace just the back, i.e. the bottom half of the phone without the electronic components?
Hi, its the microphone rubber that leds the sound from the hole on top of the frame of the phone to the microphone. Basically insures sound is captured clearly through that small hole and not surrounding areas muffling it out.
Assalamualaikum hello guys i from indonesia, and i user moto z2 force i need the screen because my screen is broken.. Where i can to buy this screen. Pleasee helllppp meee :-((
Hey, i Changed my phones vibrator and buttons ribbon. When i reassmbled my phone all was well everything was working including buttons and vibration. But now microphone doesn't work. When i send whatsapp audio messages the other person can only hear noise. Like fan noise(for explanation) I tried so many things but didnt work. Also replaced those 2 plastic connectors besides the charging port, didnt work. I just dont know what cause that as i didn't even do anything to the microfone
Hmm not too sure. Did you remove the motherboard? maybe you damaged a chip or resistor somewhere on the board. Also try disconnecting or using your old parts to see if it works with those to rule out a defective part causing the issue.
@@PBKreviews nops. I clearly remember i lifted of the top of the board afer removing all screws just enough so i could change the vibrator. As for the buttons, the ribbon was loose, so didnt change that. Just fixed it. Didnt touch the below board. Although, the plastic you showed, the one with antenna lines, both of them were broken, maybe due to excessive force while removing the panel with prying tool. I have a dead Z2 force. I took parts from that. Changed the plastic, didnt work. One thing i remember now, while the screen was open and i was testing the mic, i had the pryig tool in my hand and it touch the board, a very small spark appeared. But, neither did the phone turn off nor anything else happened.
Its possible the mic got damaged but highly improbable. It's soldered onto the bottom corner of the board so if it did break, you would probably need a new phone since it's not fixable by the end user.
sir, my motorola z2 force damaged with battery and screen can you help to get replacement.. please it has been 3 years from now.. i could not afford to pay for the replacement.. i bought this phone in 2nd hand but initially 2 years it was very perfect but suddenly it got damage somehow I don't know, but if you help me to reply theses battery and display.. will be helpfull or site where can i contact someone for ... 🙏 please
make sure there isn't anything stuck between preventing it to seat properly and also make sure you put the bottom in first since it slides into the lip on bottom then you can seat in the rest of the display.
Please what happens if the camera is not connect well? i have this phone with finger print, flashlight, camera all not working, am suspecting the Camera connection, What do you think? i want to be sure before i open the phone. Will be grateful if you could help.
Not sure don't think it has to do with the camera not being connected well. Fingerprint cable is not connected or related to the camera cable, nor is the flash. You can try taking it apart and reconnecting all the connections but they are not related to one another
@@PBKreviews thanks, but can you fix the phone without the back camera connected and see what will happen, this is a new phone and want to be sure what the issue is before i open, what do you suggest could be the problem sir.
@@PBKreviews thanks , I have tried Factory reset a thousand times and nothing worked, i changed the ROM and nothing worked, i feel the phone is refurbished and maybe something was not fixed right.
Looks kind of difficult, with all the little component and ribbons that could easily be destroyed. all I can say is I'm glad that I bought two of these phones when they were on sale. When the battery becomes unbearable on my first, I will just start using the second one and sell the first one "as is" with a crappy battery. Let someone else change the damn thing.
Dear Sir, Suddenly my phone was moto z2 force got switched off after that I tried to switch on the phone but its not on even I tried some tricks also but no use , I taken into mobile repair shop they told me LCD probem …they have been trying in UAE Can you please tell me where can I brought in UAE,please revert me back,i have been waiting for your reply
Have they checked to make sure the battery cable did not come loose? Not sure where you can find a screen on UAE, you can always find a screen for it online on ebay or amazon or somewhere like that.
Hy im from Indonesia. Now i use moto z2 force unlock mode this very good phone,so fast and so thin i really love this phone.. but now my screen has broken and i don't to buy the part where
The screens on these are pretty pricey running $150-250 if im not mistaken. Usually sold on ebay or amazon. Runs just as much as buying a new condition z2 force. Yea its a good phone.
Its not a glue, its double sided adhesive tape. If you need to replace the tape, one of the better ones you can use are the 3M cell phone Red tape which you can find on ebay. They come in different widths.
There is no flex cable for the sim reader, its soldered onto the main board. If the pins are damaged and not reading your sim, it would require someone who is a professional with soldering to replace it with a new one and solder the new sim reader onto the board.
No, its soldered onto the mother board. Its not with flex cable, the flex cable you see is for the proximity sensor when you put the phone to your face to turn the screen off
Hi, it's possible the hole for the mic on the bottom is clogged, try using an old toothbrush or something similar to brush out the pin sized hole on the bottom where the mic is and see if it fixes it
motorola never provides screens or replacement parts, only sometimes shatter shields and stuff like that. They do however replace defective or bad parts themselves when you send them your defective phone, however they send you out a different phone to expedite the process and you don't get your same phone back.
Anthony James they are still destructible, if you drill into it or hit it hard enough with a bat you can possibly damage the screen underneath, it just won't shatter. However its kind of really hard to damage it and the possibilities of what can get it to go bad are very few if any lol.
After you disassemble the phone, to the right of the battery there is the cable that goes for the power button/volume buttons (if that is what you are trying to fix). They cable is screwed into the frame so you would need to unscrew the small screws and remove the buttons from the frame and replace it with a working one if yours is not working.
after you followed the video on the disassembly, the battery has a black pull tab on top of it, you can use it to pry it off the adhesive it is attached with onto the frame of the phone.
The instructions on this video have only resulted in me damaging my phone. There are critical things you have to know that this stupid video neglects to explain that will guarantee screw up your phone. The reality is that you're more likely to peel the screen off the face of your phone instead of opening the phone up. It's extremely difficult to get any tool into the case to open it up, and you're more likely going to just peel the screen off. There is too much finesse required to get this case open safely. Now I'm probably going to have to buy new parts! Thanks allot for your Sh#t explanation!
I mean this is a 5 year old video, I do grant that it's not perfectly explained, but through the 5 years I have not had one person complain about damaging their phone aside from you. I'm not responsible for you damaging your phone if you did it incorrectly. I don't claim my video has the best explanation nor is a 100% guaranteed method not to damage your phone.
