I'll let you know, I ordered mine yesterday so should get it soon. Just to wind you up, I'm in the UK so we get double the storage, a 68w charger and a case in the box - not to mention a set of moto buds+ :) all for the same price
@@localblackman427 I would say it's better than the 2023 Razr+ but not the 2024. But they are close, and the additional bells and whistles the plus offers weren't worth an additional $300 to me.
@@localblackman427 I'd say it's better than the 2023 Razr+ but not the 2024. But the additional bells and whistles the plus offers weren't worth an extra $300 to me. But if someone came up to me and asked to do a straight up phone swap, the only way I'd even be remotely interested is if they had a 2024 Razr+
@@localblackman427 The standard razr only has the better price, bigger battery, and ultrawide camera. Other then that the Razr plus 2024 is better. Larger cover screen, faster charging, higher refresh rate screens, better processor. I didn't care about any of that though because I already have the flip 6. I got the standard razr 2024 for both me and my wife through cricket for $220 each so it was a no brainer. At $220, this is hands down the best phone you can buy (it retails for $600-$700, at that point I'd just spend the extra $150 and catch the Razr+ on sale for $850). Honestly I like the Razr better than the flip 6. The 4 shortcomings of the flip 6 are addressed by the standard razr which are Gboard on the cover screen, a dedicated tent mode, an actual recent apps switcher for multitasking, and better battery. My main gripe on the flip 6 is battery. My battery is just as bad as it was on the 5 so I'm hoping a software update can fix it but out the box the battery on the moto is good and even better with battery saver on. If the standard moto razr is this good I can only imagine how good the plus is. Either way 🤷🏾♂️ I can't go back to solely owning a slab phone again. My only slab phone is my iPhone 🤣
Thank you about the crease comment. My z flip 6's crease has gotten so much worse, at this point it's indistinguishable from the last gen 2 weeks into owning the phone.
The reason I got the Flip 6 instead of the Razr Plus is because of the lack of a wide-angle lens and only three years of support compared to seven with Samsung, a less powerful chipset, as well as Motorola not providing regular updates as often as other manufacturers. I do prefer the larger-size mini screen of the Razr Plus over the Flip 6 and the faster charging, as well as the ability to add apps to the mini screen right out of the box.
I think it's because Samsung know they're gonna sell way more of the flip 6 than Motorola will sell of the razr+, so no need to make any major changes. Samsung have gotten pretty damn lazy lately!
Man the more I see this the more I want it. I told myself I wouldn't even look at foldables but this one just speaks to me. Only thing I worry about is the crease. Would it stand out enough to just flat out bother me
I had the 2023, and wow looks fully updated. I’m waiting till 2025 for a next release. And please more storage… also I liked the haptic sound on the 23 hahah
Hey Shane, great review on this phone. I have a question that I think someone with your knowledge could probably answer. Do you know where Motorola stores its data collected from users? Is it the United States or China since its an post-American company that is owned by Lenovo? Based on your review, I am very interested in purchasing this device but am a bit apprehensive about privacy. Big thanks if you could answer this for me.
I do agree in most of what you're saying. I'd prefer a wide angle camera though. Even though I'm aaalmost a Samsung Knight, I can't stand the form of the Z Flip 5&6' screens. The Razr's is almost perfect. What I find weird is that here overseas (Norway) it's called Razr 50 ULTRA, and it comes with Everything in the box! A real good case, uSB-C, a 67W charger, a strap to attach to the case and some more. It's weird. My conclusion is that even though f.eks the ZF6 have a bit better hardware and cameras, 7 years update, I would still buy the Razr 50 ULTRA any day of the week. 🤘from Norway. 🇧🇻 Xcellent video btw👍🖖👍
Thank you for the very detailed comparison of the cover screen between the 2 latest RAZRs! I will now consider buying the regular RAZR since it's *only* ~USD480 here in Asia (I know it's more expensive there in North America). The extra real estate of the RAZR+ is really good but just too expensive for me😅
I just got the Razr +, I switched from the Z-Flip 4, I really like the software (more stock) version of Android. I am wondering about this "only charging the battery to 80%,..whats the reasoning for that?
For the first time ever, I will proudly let people know I still chew my fingernails at age 41. Who would've thought that it would help me preserve a potential new phone in my future. 🙂
I really like where Motorola have gone. Except they need to really have more frequent and longer support. Samsung and Pixel have 7 years support. The only thing about Samsung that really galls me is their use of Exynos chips in their 24 plus and 24 for international market. I really hate them for that. And even for the 24 Ultra they don't offer the 1 TB model. At least with Apple you get the same models worldwide. Also get rid of the bloatware. Like McAfee.
7 years of software support is a gimmick, trust me. Honestly, would you still want to keep your phone 6 yrs from now, even though it would still be getting updates? what about the hardware ? would it compete with a 2031 flagship, minding the fact that technology changes are overwhelming these days.
Just picked this up 36 hours ago!! Picked it up at best buy instead of the zflip6. That front display and cheaper price were beyond a no-brainer! Should have bought from moto for the free bose buds... But its alright. Yhe crease is better on this than the flip as well
You can also get em slightly used open box on e bay for really cheap. I got my moto razr 40 ultra for like 490$ carrier unlocked the thing was basically brand new when I got it. No cosmetic issues or anything
Wanted to purchase it but when I went to their website I didn't see where they took any traded in. So I said forget it. They should at least accept Samsung flip trade in to take something off the phone 😢.
At least the charging cable can handle the 45w charge, whereas Samsung's cables in the box max out at 25w like on the S24 Ultra. Compact 45w chargers are pretty easy to find for around $20 these days. On the whole tho yes its pretty crazy that these companies get away with not including a charger
Great device EXCEPT motorolas software and security update guarantees is a joke. 3 or 4 years total. Google and Samsung are 7 years. ONE+ is 3 or 4 years. So you spent $1k for 3 or 4 years software and security update? No thanks for me or my wife.
