Motorola XTS3000 With MODAT | Failing EPROM Error 01/82 and 01/92

This XTS3000 stopped working correctly about 2 years ago. The first line up of Astro radios, The Astro Sabers, XTS3000 and XTS3500 (maybe even more) have a common issue where the EPROM fails and the radio is no longer useable. You can see in this video is slowly begins to lose programming information, and even display a corrupt zone name. The HT1250 is programmed identically as the XTS3000. I could only find one channel they could communicate on. When trying to push the codeplug back into the radio, it complains that it does not match the serial number (it does in reality) however the corruption on the codeplug also effected this information. By the end of the video you can see that the radio stops working completely.
Radio did have MODAT, which is a feature not often seen on these. If you came just for that go to 1:00

Nearly every 3K I've seen has MODAT. Like the proverbial dog that caught the car, it gets boring real quick...

MODAT does get pretty annoying when you have to hear it all the time. I flashed this radio with MODAT so I could get some recordings of it. I had copies of the zones that had MODAT, MDC and no signaling enabled on them. Since the EEPROM had corrupted the zones either showed as unprogrammed or a random character. Unlike MDC-1200, portable Motos with MODAT can't decode the unit IDs, and the radio can't mute it. So it's pretty much useless. I personally have not seen the XTS3000 with MODAT outside of the HAM/Radio community because very few government agencies had equipment to decode MODAT.

If you acquire a time machine and a properly equipped Centracom-II Dispatch Console, then go back to 1995 you'll be all set. (Presumably while watching reruns of LAPD: Life on the Beat on Betamax.... uh-oh... just revealed too much of my biography...)

@@Jah_Rastafari_ORIG A friend of mine had converted the dining room into his radio room. He had some pretty cool stuff, Antennas in trees and wires running through the yard. His wife wasn't happy about that either.

Hi, Have you be able to recover your radio? I get the same fail code 01/82

This is usually an unrecoverable fault. It's when the EEPROM reaches it's lifespan. You can try rewriting the code plug to the radio.

@@DatamasterCorporation I’ve created a blank codeplug with saber depot and rewrite it , no luck still gives the same error. Now I found a srecord for xts3000 and trying to write it with the lab software. I hope that works. Thank you.
