Pro stock in its glory days unlike the over the top modern era in where diving is just cutting a good light. To see this beautiful car in its glory days then to see it almost nothing more than a rusting hulk then to be resurrected back to its origins is so gratifying...

Being from Toronto, I remember this car. Then called "Rebound" campaigned by Beatty & Woods (Machine shop who are still in business) at Cayuga Dragway. I'm a friend of Henry Sega (Sega Speed Industries) as shown on the rear fenders of the car and also remember the car at his shop on occasion. It's Motown Missile heritage was known and I marvelled at it's custom touches. I always wondered why Henry held onto the original clutch pedal from the car was was glad that you fellows have it now in the restored car.

One of my all-time favorite early Pro Stockers, and I was a Chevy guy! They were so dialed in, they'd arrive at the track, make a test pass, and wait for Eliminations. They were so relaxed many competitors said that was an indication that they were cheating; they weren't, they were THAT GOOD! Ted Spehar told me once that just for burps & giggles, he screwed on clear plexi discs to his rims, just to mess with his competition's heads. This is when Pro Stock was fun and GREAT.

My dad worked for Don at his Saw Mills NC shop, said he was a great man that'd give you the shirt off his back. First 8 sec. P/S quarter mile and the originator of the clutchless 4-speed. He left this world way too soon.

Probably the wickedest Pro Stock car ever built in comparison to the competition at the time. As much as I loved the Motown Missile and crew, (big Don Carlton fan) When it came to Wally’s Nobody could touch Ronnie, Buddy and Jake….and then throw Herb in for good measure. I’m a diehard Mopar fan, Cuda’s Chargers, Challangers, Dusters and Demons. So many great teams, besides the aforementioned. Billy the Kid, Akron Arlen, Don Grotheer, Butch Leal, Dick Landry, Bill Bagshaw and Reid Whisnat…apologies to anyone I’ve missed. But they were just too good for the NHRA…Wally and company penalized them and gave a big advantage to the Grump and company. No disrespect to Bill, choosing to run that small block Vega was a brilliant idea, But the NHRA effectively killed the Mopars. Thanks for the post, glad to know that historical treasure was saved for posterity. But more importantly to me, Thank You for making me remember all those great racers and teams and the fantastic cars Dodge and Plymouth gave us to watch race. 👍🏻❤️😎

Beautiful. Was disappointed that they chose not to anodize the rear wheels though. I know the cars history it ran mostly with the raw aluminum finish on the rear. But man that day #1 picture on the thumbnail it looks so tough with the bronze/gold wheels on all 4s. That and the gold leaf are my favorite parts of the car.

Totally awesome!!! Amazing you found it after all those years. I have several old cars and this is part of the reason I love them, the history and connection to the people who owned them over the years. Imagine if you will, owning a '72 'Cuda now in 2018. How many first dates happened in that car, how many stoplight drag races, how many real drag races and trophies, how many times was "Just Married" written across the back window and how many times did it bring home that new baby? I bought a '69 GTO in 1983 when I was 15. I still have it and it's been totally restored. It was setting on a Honda dealer's used car lot in Tulsa, OK. They previous owner had traded it in for a new Accord. I wonder sometimes when I look at it if they ever tell stories to their friends or children/grandchildren about the cool GTO they owned waaay back in the day? These cars are far more than pieces of steel and vinyl, they are truly treasures to those who understand!

Them and would always see the car ther unless it was a different car I know it was either a cuda or challenger but I was drooling over it every time I went in the only thing I never cared for were the strait up and down wheelie bars but ya Motown Kissel one of my favorite drag cars as a teenager

This was TRULY "THE GREATEST PRO STOCK DRAG CAR" in our nations history. I knew this team very well. Don Carlton was a dedicated & thoroughly educated driver. He knew how to win a race with so many tactics, always getting his 'Cuda passed the finish-line ahead of his competition. This car with its hundreds of innovations was a MOPAR success, and recalibrated drag racing like no other team. You Chevy guys have your Grumpy Jenkins, but Carlton & Plymouth were unbeatable. Our flagship drag car was this "SUPER 'CUDA" that was the most heart wrenching car to ever come out of MOPAR. The entire world respects this car as the greatest muscle car to ever exist. Camaro's, & Mustangs were a dime a dozen vehicle that mothers & grandmothers drove. The 'Cuda was made for men & tough-guy drag racers. The greatest show car ever as well......

Let's Not Forget the Team of Sox n Martin! Or Dick Landy, both Great drivers of Mopar! But, I'd agree, I loved seeing this Run Motown MISSILE! Bad unit, my Pops raced in late 60s n 70s, even held a National Record! J class I think..I was only 11 or 12 in 71..but every weekend drag strip somewhere, US National n Bristol spring national winner! Great time..met all the greats..I miss the days..love dragway 42..

Stunning, fantastic job guys. I believe this is the last and most high tech Pro Stock car ever built. Before they went full tube chassis. Extremely significant historic beast. One mean mean lookin 1320 ride too. Can't wait to hear this thing running again, and hopefully see it moving under its own power. Thanks for sharing, I can't get enough of this car, that's for sure.

I see the Beatty and woods cuda in the picture I live in Oshawa Ontario Canada and we had a Beatty and woods here in the 70s and 80s it was. On ritson rd and olive ave I used to buy parts ther for my 70 roadrunner they had a car in the store I loved that car I do believe it’s the same car I was 16 and that car got me into drag racing I would dream of that car I see it says Toronto on the quarter panel I can’t remember if it stayed Toronto but I remember the hooker header sticker on the front fender I’m pretty sure was that same car as Oshawa is to a lot of people Toronto it’s the suburbs I imagine that picture would be Cayuga dragway were the picture was taken memories
